The front desk staff were very friendly and gave us a detailed and informative tour of the facility. The facility is very clean and the amenities are outstanding, with the only exception of not having a sauna. There is a smoothie bar/cafe located within for pre-workout nourishment or refueling and a coffee bar with free coffee. My favorite thing about coming here is the wellness room is never crowded as opposed to chain gyms. It's also a family oriented environment so my kids are able to workout with me as well. There are tv's on every cardio machine with cable which I found is a great way to keep my youngest focused. Disney channel and go, lol! Aside from not having a sauna and steam room, there are no other complaints. Overall this is a wonderful YMCA.

Called Sammie to schedule my appointment and she was able to get me in right away. You have to buzz to get in and once you step inside the tranquil and relaxing ambience helps to relax you. I got setup and relaxed inside my pod. If you focus on your breathing you have a better chance of remaining in the pod the whole 30 minutes. Felt like I sweated out a lake and was a little drained (pun intended) afterwards. Relaxed for a little bit and drank some more water before hearing more about the color of my toxins and the benefits of the pods - experiencing it I already understood the benefits of it. It was shortly afterwards when it hit me and I just felt really really good - I highly recommend going and giving it a try - plan it if you are so that you get the most benefit from it. My first attempt to cancel was by email on March 4th, and I emailed again on March 16th when I didn't receive a response.I then went in person on a Sunday, as my contract allows cancellation in person. The manager, Lorenzo, was not there, and the front desk staff told me I could email him directly to cancel. I followed their instructions and sent the email. This morning, Lorenzo replied telling me that I cannot cancel by email and that I must come in person Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM -- even though I already went in person, and none of these requirements appear anywhere in my contract. My contract clearly states that cancellation can be done in person or by mail, with no mention of manager availability, weekday-only hours, or any other restrictions. Under the Texas Health Spa Act, gyms are not allowed to add extra cancellation conditions that aren't in the written agreement. The shifting explanations I received -- including in my recorded call with Lorenzo -- would not hold up under Texas consumer protection rules. I've filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General because this has now dragged on for nearly a month despite me following every instruction they gave me.It's a great gym overall, but if you ever move out of the city or need to cancel, be prepared for a stressful and unnecessary process. The facility is good, but the cancellation issues are simply not worth the headache. Stay away at all costs, Houston is literally saturated with so many gyms that this one is absolutely not worth the trouble.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at this spa. From the moment we arrived, we were…read moregiven a quick, half-hearted tour and weren't shown the upstairs or told how to use the lockers. The entire place felt severely understaffed. One of the biggest reasons we chose this spa was the salt cave, which they promote heavily, yet we were asked to leave because of a "private event." The facilities were also poorly designed. The only showers are located near the heated pool, steam room, and sauna, so you're sweating again immediately after trying to rinse off. Basic amenities were lacking. No brushes or bags were available unless you went searching, and the space lacked the little touches you'd expect from a luxury spa. While my full body massage was the only redeeming part of the visit, my friend had a not so great experience. We booked an additional $300 in foot massages in the salt cave (on top of our $200 full body treatments), only to find out that it was not going to be done by massage therapists, but nail technicians. They were very nice, but there was no real pressure or technique. It felt like a total waste of money. You should really disclose that. We also ordered a bottle of Moscato and weren't allowed to keep it at our table. We had to go find someone just to get a refill. This was a $750 visit that didn't feel luxurious in the slightest. If you're looking for a real spa experience, I highly recommend going to the Houstonian instead. This spa just didn't deliver in service, amenities, or value. ***********Update: The manager was suppose to call us but she never did. I called and spoke to Tracy and she did not understand my frustration about my massage being done by a nail tech. She said she would call me back and never did.
