Pretty surprised when I found out they billed insurance $250 for two stabilizers that you could get on Amazon for $10 each. People wonder why medical care is so expensive in the US vs. other developed countries -- it's because of companies like Restore Motion. My doctor has lost my business because of their relationship with Restore Motion and I'm certainly NEVER agreeing to receive anything at a medical office visit just in case it might feed into Restore Motion's scam. Posting (as many others have) to shed light on Restore Motion's predatory pricing for the durable medical goods they provide. The short story: they charge 5x the Medicare pricing and 8x the Amazon price for a boot that my husband got after his Achilles surgery. We were fortunate enough that our insurance company covered 80%, but would hate for someone to foot a $500 bill for something that they could buy online for $60. We reached out to Restore Motion's billing team and the initial rep, Heidi, mentioned that they go by Medicare line pricing. This was clearly untrue as insurance explained that the amount Restore Motion billed was over the threshold (4x Medicare pricing) that they set as a reasonable ceiling. When we informed the billing supervisor, Morgan, of this, they did not do the right thing to update their pricing and instead resent a bill with a "23% discount" to appease us. What Restore is doing may be technically legal - they get to set their pricing as a profit making business, after all - but is clearly wrong. We'll be asking our ortho to reconsider using them, posting reviews to alert others wherever possible and hopefully getting this information in front of people so they can make an informed decision to NOT do business with Restore Motion unless the company decides to do better. The company seems to emphasize on selling braces without using ins companies, my experience, Dr wrote script for a brace, in Jan, they would submit paperwork incorrectly to ins so it would get deined, then they would call you and say it's a cash sale only, I did my do diligence and found out forms were sent wrong to ins, so deny deny deny, 3 months later I said enough, purchased a brace from another brace company, terrible customer service, you can almost never get ahold of anyone to.speak to, leave a message and they will get back to you, maybe, if you have cash they will call you right back, I tested that , and right away I was speaking to a rep, no thank you, if you choose this company, you will need a ton of patience and alot of luck getting what you needed from them, my suggestion go to another vender, I found one, they came to my home, custom fitted, and I am happy with the brace, this company needs to work on there customer service, my ins said many times this was covered but to me it seemed all they cared about was a cash sale, very sad what customer service has come to.. read more

I have not had a good experience with Restore Motion. They've been sending me a bill for $770 with no justification and have not returned my ongoing phone calls to them. NO ONE answers the phone!!! There is no email on the bill so I am now online searching for their company in hopes to get someone to respond! My son had hip surgery and the surgeon had him get one of the machines for recovery. After the fact, they told us that they don't deliver the product to our area (Ventura) so we had to pick it up at the doctors office. To return they told us that they would send packaging to return the machine. It was quite a large machine to package. At some point they sent out a box which we used to package the hip machine and we went to the shipper to send it back. About a week later I got a call saying someone was outside my son's place to pick up the machine. I explained it had been returned. The next thing I see is a bill for $770 with added late fees. Upgraded my knee brace through Restore Motion, and the entire process from initially trying to identify the best suiting product, to addressing my follow up questions and concerns, to placing the order, and eventually having a visiting technician come to my home to fit and demonstrate the actual product to make sure it is fitted right and that I was sufficiently informed and equipped as a new owner of a sport brace, turned out to be 100% satisfactory. I started getting bills. I paid the first one, hoping it was the end. Got another bill the next month. He took the time to not only set up the equipment for me, but provide specific instructions on how to effectively utilize the equipment. He was patient and thorough. This review is to warn people to do their homework before allowing themselves to be referred by their doctors to this company -- and also encourage anyone else who has had similar experiences to message/reach out to me. Restore Motion charged a **300%** mark-up on a cloth Bauerfeind knee brace available easily online for $200. (Yes, over $600 for a flexible cloth knee brace ). Nothing was different about it. No special fitting was involved. The Cedars-Sinai orthopedist did not provide cost information - merely gave the knee brace. An absurd bill followed in the mail. After one back and forth with the doctor's office and their reducing to merely a 275% mark-up, a response was awaited for months and but they didn't follow-up. Then the company -- without any warning -- sent the bill to collections. The collections agency "mistakenly" continues to harrass us for money even after they confirmed the settled debt, eating up time in the interim. Anyone else have similar stories? Honestly, it looks like very fishy business is going on -- and that insurers (and patients like us who haven't reached their deductibles) are getting massively overcharged, to the benefit of both doctors and this company that allegedly puts the patient first (HA!). The practices between these two -- and probably many other doctors' offices -- seem like fodder for a class action lawsuit for collusion, price fixing, and price gouging. Kerlan-Jobe and Restore Motion should be ashamed of themselves, and patients should be forewarned about this profiteering racket between the two companies. Side note: from a previous experience, I know the company has their technicians who fit equipment grub for reviews for them, so look pretty suspiciously on those five stars...if it's for the person who came out to help, great, but this company as a whole clearly does not put patients first and is seeking to massively profit on people's injuries. read more

Dalicia and Rita are amazing to work with. I needed a custom Ossur knee brace and am so pleased with the service I received. I can't say enough good things about Dalicia. She was on it! She works with a sense of urgency and understands how important it is to provide speedy service. She was proactive, kept me in the loop the entire time and was easy to get a hold of. It was frustrating working with my insurance and she took ownership and really helped me out. She answered the million questions I had and was patient and understanding. I never felt rushed and she made me feel like I was the most important client. Rita was a lot of fun to work with. She knows her stuff! My daughter received equipment from them. I paid out of pocket which was fine. When I received my invoice, it showed that one of my daughter's devices had been paid by insurance which was incorrect. As I needed a correct invoice for reimbursement from my medical flex card, I called and was told that a note would be sent to the account coordinator to correct and then send to main office who does the billing. I never heard back from them. 2 weeks later I called again and asked to speaking with a supervisor and was told no one was available and that a supervisor would get back to me in 24-48 hours - 3 weeks later no one has called me. I just left a message with Brittney, Operations Manager but I don't have a a lot of confidence she will call me back. Their motto is "where the patient comes first" is obviously a lie. I'll update if Brittney called me back. UPDATE - Brittney did call me back within the hour and resolved the issue very quickly . She apologized for the inconvenience. read more

My son, who turned 18 days before ACL surgery, was told this company would provide PCM for recovery. We asked for how long, initially it was a couple weeks and it did help recovery, he was pushed to keep it for many more weeks without any indication of cost. To be responsible he made a payment and asked why he was getting bills with TWO different account numbers and neither reflected his payment. He called ( I know because I was sitting next to him), left messages repeatedly and just kept getting no reply. He asked to see the two accounts and be shown why they were different and why they didn't reflect payment - no reply to date. He sent a written note back with his information ( I reviewed it and it was hand written but detailed, thankfully I took a photo before he mailed it), asking them to contact him and then he finally heard from them - through a collection notice. As I noted he's a young man who has never had to manage this level of customer service and utterly disgusted with the process and is now having to deal with this from college in a very different time zone. It's appalling how poor the customer service is and the mark up, when we saw the final cost of the PCM, was unreal. The only plus was the guy who came out with equipment and returned it, he was terrific and helpful on that front -- but had no insight on costs but was the one who followed up with my son and told my son about keeping machine longer. Overall it's a big mess and handing it over to collection was the last insult. read more

Surgery is not fun, nor is all of the prep that goes along with it. I just had knee surgery and Tony came to my house to deliver it the day before to ensure that I understood how to use it on my own. He is such a friendly and helpful person, which was a welcome surprise. He spent about 20+ minutes with me, making sure I could understand how to operate the machine after surgery, by myself. And he made himself available to me in case any questions arose - which they did. He responded immediately and helped me through a big hurdle just hours after surgery. All the 1 star reviews are very accurate for this company. They sell medical equipment to patients prior to surgery at very high costs. I paid 701.00 Co insurance. They stated when they sold me this equipment that Insurance would cover the rest, My plan has no deductible, only a Co Insurance. They paid 1000 some dollars and left me with a. 31.00 Bill. Its not about the amount I received its the principal of the situation. Their sales people practically guarantee insurance will cover it and try to pressure sales on you. The simple unit Restore Motion sold me for $814.64 can be purchased at Walmart for under $50. Restore Motion charged $584.64 to my insurance company and specifically called me prior to my surgery to ask for $230 (an erroneous double charge) without an explanation. When I realized what happened I spend several hours calling Restore Motion, but nobody was willing to help. In fact, Restore Motion's customer service representatives were very dismissive. At last resort, I filed a dispute with American Express. Restore Motion fought American Express about their own erroneous charge and the $230 was put back on my card. I then had to explain to American Express again what happened. Restore Motion finally realized they made a mistake and claim they are trying to rectify the issue. However, after all that happened and the fact they are grossly overcharging for their products, it seems like too little too late. read more
