I gave the Mishawaka office two stars because 1) the employees were pleasant, and 2) my husband has…read morehad good outcomes with his cataract surgery, thank goodness. HOWEVER, both appointments were a marathon of frustration! The first day our appointment was at 10:30, and we weren't done until 3:45. We were upset to sit in the waiting room for several hours, but hoped it was an unusual day. But his next appointment a week later was for 9:30. They shuffle patients from room to room to room, doing an exam and getting papers signed. In each room there is a LOT of sitting and waiting! Finally at 11:30 we were taken to the surgery waiting room, which was full. We knew we were in for another long day when patients started telling us their appointments were for 8, 8:30, etc. So we sat, and sat, and sat! They have NO REGARD for their (mostly SENIOR patients) that have not had any water or food since the night before! FINALLY at 3:45 he was called back for surgery preparation. Guess what? The dilation of his eye that was done that morning had worn off and had to be redone!! He was so dehydrated, that it took four tries to get his IV going! (which he never has trouble with). The 10-15 minute surgery went fine. By this time it was 15 minutes until closing at 5:00. He came out of surgery, had IV and heart monitors disconnected, and was wheeled out to the car. The nurse said to help him at home because he's still weak and shakey. i can't imagine why. No post-op observation. Just put in the car, 71/2 hours later, for a procedure that takes about an hour from preparation to recovery!! The Institute needs to figure out how to fix this. Because this treatment is ridiculously inefficient!

I had my first appointment and everything went very well. Everyone in the office was so friendly…read moreand helpful.
