My father had a cataract surgery here which should have been uneventful. He was in surgery for a lengthy amount of time, suffered great pain, and lost vision in his eye. After receiving care from a true professional and expert in the KC area, we learned my father shouldn't have had a cataract surgery without additional steps and care in place due to a medication he takes. It took the KC specialist one visit to understand what had happened to my dad and that he takes a medication, Flomax, in which numerous medical studies exist related to the risks of this medication and cataract surgery. We watched Dr. Farhat stumble around with his words while trying to explain what happened to my dad and it was later clear he and his team had made a tragic mistake by their gross negligence. Vision is so important to quality of life. Do not receive care here if you can help it and have the means to go elsewhere.

The doctors in this office (ie: doctors Stiles and Penzler routinely keep their customers waiting excessively and the office staff acts like you are crazy to expect your appt time to be kept. Either their staff over books not allowing enough time for each patient, or the doctors themselves are disorganized. Either way unacceptable. If you have another choice, take it. Doctors time is NOT more valuable than yours.

The scheduling staff is fantastic! It's not only their friendliness, they truly work with you and try to get you an appt as soon as possible. Professionalism at it's finest, yet caring and compassionate. The techs doing the testing on your eyes are also professional and friendly, and they all seem to enjoy their job, which passes onto you a feeling of coziness. And Dr. Gentsler.....I cannot express strongly enough how wonderful this woman is to her patients!! I have sent 3 friends/family to her after I had my first appt with her. (and I just recommended her to my book club ladies last night). These were people headed to KC for eye appts and I told them about my experience with Dr. Gentsler and her staff. They all have fallen in love with her just as I have. You will not find a more caring doctor, EVER! She is so gentle and you feel like you're the only person she is seeing as a patient. Her results....well it's as good as it gets, she knows exactly what she is doing and will recommend what options are best for you. I am 2 weeks out from my 2nd eye lens transplant and I no longer need contacts or readers!! It was the easiest and least anxiety I've ever had with a medical procedure, a piece of cake! This is the 4th procedure with multiple doctors in an attempt to improve her vision. Prior to this, Dr Stiles did a procedure to correct acute glaucoma in the same eye. This young women is losing her vision, no doctors really no why and you would think the least Dr Stiles could do when he saw her today was speak to her. He said nothing. Walked in, did the procedure, answered one question about pain, got up and left the room. No one from the office called her later in the day to see how she was doing. And in fact, there is NO improvement. They told her that as soon as the dilation wore off she would see results. Nothing and no phone call. When I asked her why she didn't call them, she said...this office is the worst and most difficult to get a hold of to have any sort of conversation. I will try tomorrow. So - shame on you Dr Stiles, for being so incentive to a person going through an ordeal this significant.
