Prawns with Garlic and Olive oil
Ameya B.

A nice hole in the wall, family run, traditional Portuguese restaurant. I found this place by accident. I wanted to try another restaurant on the same block which had pretty decent reviews. But guess what? It was closed at 6:15 pm on a Saturday evening! Just when I was wondering, how business runs in Portugal, I noticed this cute little open and inviting! The waitress didn't speak much English but their menu had both English and Portuguese right next to each other, so that was really convenient. I ordered the Prawns with Garlic and Olive oil and Bacalhau à Brás as my entree. My entree was amazing. Really delicious.. Just when I thought the potatoes overpower cod fish, you get a very subtle taste of the salted cod. Just amazing and very light on your stomach, so you feel the perfect amount of satisfaction! Also had their draft beer which was Sagres. Really good and strong. Tasted like Stella. At around 6:40 pm, this place wasn't busy at all. One very interesting thing I saw was that their staff was having their meal at the same time in the restaurant itself. They had these 2 huge plates with what looked like pork, along with chips and fries. Looked delicious and I was very tempted to join it! Taking away 1 star because when I presented my Visa Credit Card for payment, they refused and said that they don't access Visa, Mastercard of American Express. I started wondering what else is accepted then? Sadly, I couldn't communicate in Portuguese so had to let go. I'd suggest confirming before hand if they'd accept a card.. else safe to say that this is a cash only place!

Amazing sea food and live beautiful fado music. Totally full in there

if you want cheap(er) place to have a taste of fado, this is the place to go. fado lasts until midnight (we went on a weekend) and entries are about 10 dollars each. ambiance is rather cozy and homy, we saw the owner's family member were also sitting around, as well as fado singer's acquaintances. the waitress didn't try hard to sell us bread/cheeseboard and all that jazz. we each got an entry and shared a pitcher of sangria. the food is ok(have a taste mediocre portugese food?) , octopus i got is rather heavy and oily. i would recommend order food and share/exchange, so that you won't get too overwhelmed with one heady dish ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but again, the fado. the we were there, a man and a lady singer were alternating, each would sing two songs and then both will take a half hr ish break so you can chat and order your food lol.

It was packed with people, which was a good sign. We enjoyed all our dishes, especially the tiger prawns, octopus, and seafood rice. The sangria was average. Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

The fact that my husband and I got there before anyone else came, allowed us to have the most amazing conversation with the staff that works there!! Faysal greeted us and was very welcoming! As we ate dinner, Bernardo who is a waiter there, told us the history of the building etc and since no one else was there, we talked about our families and that he going to be a veterinarian...and that he has something else coming up that is going to be exciting. All through our dinner we chatted with him (as if we were having dinner at his house) and enjoyed every minute of the conversation!! It was the best part of the evening! We even got to meet Miguel the chef, and were happy to tell him his food was amazing! I can't recommend this restaurant enough!!! They only charge 19.60 euro for all you can eat!!!! I hope a lot of people read this and go to Rosa da Rua!!!

The restaurant was quaint and intimate , with a small buffet that easily fills you up. There were many options from a beef stew to a curry, a noodle dish with bacon, salad, and other options. They even explained the options to us. I truly wish we had more time in Lisbon because I would have definitely returned to try it again as the options differ nightly. I would definitely recommend this to all in Lisbon.
