Ginny was definitely God-sent. We met her a year before our july 2013 wedding, and in that timeframe, she was patient, helpful, and extremely kind in helping us prepare for our big day. There were times when my husband and I got really busy with our personal lives that it become difficult to respond to her email right away, but she was very patient with us. She's also very organized in which will become an important asset when looking for a photographer. Another thing we loved about her was that on the day of our actual wedding, she always made sure if my husband and I were doing okay because she didn't want us to feel overwhelmed. Our guests also loved her! THey said she was very kind and was always willing to take pictures even without the bride or groom in the picture. Ginny is wonderful, patient, organized, smart, and EXTREMELY talented. She brings life to pictures, captures emotions through her lenses, and creates a beautiful masterpiece with every snapshot. WE love her!!!

To say I feel blessed to have had Ginny as my engagement and wedding photographer is an understatement. Her work is brilliant and her enthusiastic personality is contagious. She is so amazing and talented that I have received compliments daily from my engagement photos and wedding photo sneak peek. The best part about the sneak peek is that she gave it to me the day after my wedding! I haven't received all of my photos yet, but that does not stop me from expressing my appreciation for this tremendous person. Not only does she provide stunning photos, she also provides warm and caring personal support. She carried my dress and bouquet throughout the venue while juggling her camera gear, even though I was able to do this myself. She cared about making sure I was having a good time and wanted to do anything to help. I also had a sibling show up super late for family photos and she helped me laugh and relax while we waited and still was able to get the photos done for me. I could go on and on about how grateful I am for Ginny Silver, but I will save some praise for my updated review when I receive my spectacular wedding photos in a few more weeks! I cannot recommend Ginny highly enough. she did some wonderful spontaneous photos of my family on the beach several months ago. I have just treated myself to a boudoir shoot . I was very apprehensive as I am forty something and have never done anything like this. Had a fabulous morning, so much fun and felt so spoilt by LilyAnn the make up and hair genius and Ginny, the amazing photographer. I felt totally at ease in the gorgeous studio. Ginny made me feel so special and her gentle directions made me realise I was in the hands of a true professional. I saw the photos for the first time yesterday, they are stunning, I know Ginny spends hours editing, but does not mess about with photo shop, she manages to show the best possible version of yours you really are. Ginny has made me feel like a very beautiful woman. can't wait for a good excuse to go back.!!

Where do I begin... I found Ginny during the Summer of 2013 pretty soon after my husband proposed. Like most newly engaged brides I was super excited about the process of wedding planning and finding an amazing photographer was at the top of my priority list. Why? Because these are the photos that will be shared with our closest family members and friends and some day to our future children and grandchildren. I reached out to her that Summer and her communication was very prompt, however, my husband and I had a sudden turn of events that led us to end up getting married at the local courthouse. I let Ginny know that our plans had changed and had hoped to reconnect with her in the future. Fast forward a year and a half later. Everyone around us is getting married and engaged and posting their storybook photos on Facebook and Instagram. I loved my small wedding, but my one regret was not having beautiful photographs. So I convinced my husband that we needed some professional photos taken. I looked into a handful of photographers that friends and relatives had used, but I kept going back to Ginny's Facebook page and website. Ginny's photos are natural and let me tell you she doesn't take a bad photo. With slight hesitation that Ginny might reject my idea for a post-wedding shoot I reached out to her. She remembered me from my first inquiry and said she would be happy to do the shoot. Over the course of a couple of weeks we finalized all the details. I chose to have the photos done at the Ravenswood Historical Site in Livermore. On the day of the shoot Ginny met us right on time at the site. She made us feel at ease from the first moment we met her. She is a naturally friendly and engaging person. She told us not to worry and that she would instruct us on what to do. So for two hours we followed her lead. We absolutely loved working with her! Even my husband commented how much fun he had at the shoot. We photographed in 3 different outfits and took advantage of all the amazing backdrops that the Ravenswood site had to offer. The next day we got an email with about 8-10 photos (a preview of what was to come). Both my husband and I were blown away at the photos they looked even better than I had imagined them. Three weeks later we received the whole set. The package we selected guaranteed us at least 40 images and Ginny sent us over 150 images. They are so stunning! And everyone has commented on how much they love them! We could not be happier with Ginny and the photos. My husband has already requested we use her for a maternity shoot when the time comes if you get the opportunity to work with her I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. I was amazed at Ginny's ability to get such a wide variety of backgrounds within the site. She found a small patch of Poppy's and made it look like we were sitting in a poppy field.

Ginny is the best. My husband and I came across some of her photos and couldn't stop gushing over her beautiful use of light and framing. She has a way of capturing those fleeting moments you'll always want to remember in such a thoughtful and lovely way. She was the first photographer we found that we really loved, but wanted to do our due diligence and look into others as well. I mulled over about 25 other photographers, interviewed a few, and happily came back to Ginny as the obvious choice. Ginny is so easy to work with and really goes above her duties. Prior to the wedding, she offered advice on random questions we had (like what does she think about getting a videographer), and even gave me her sweater to sit on after our ceremony when everything was wet with the rainfall! Who does that?? Ginny does. She is the perfect person to have in the room while you're getting ready and throughout the day.It was obvious that she has a ton of experience, managing to get the perfect shots while still allowing space for us, our bridal party, and guests to enjoy the moments undisturbed. Plus she's fun to have around. We loved her so much, that we booked a second portrait session with her 4 months after the wedding. As I mentioned before, it was pouring day-of, so even though Ginny managed to do an incredible job given the unexpected weather, we still wanted some of those special sunset shots she is so talented at taking. Second time around, Ginny was still amazing. Did I mention how fast she got the photos back to us? She had a little sample ready for us 1 day after each of the shoots, and the rest within just a couple of weeks. And for the wedding package, printed versions came in this gorgeous walnut box she puts together. I could go on and on about her, but instead I recommend you book her and see for yourself! Ginny was everything we could have asked for in a photographer and more! She and her assistant were extremely professional, funny, kind, talented and loved by our entire wedding party. Our photos turned out beautifully and we could not recommend her and her services enough!! She sent out a "sneak peek" within 24 hours of our wedding and kept constant communication during the rest of the editing process. We are still in awe with how beautiful everything turned out and just could not be happier with our experience.

I wish Ginny sold photo packages for all major life milestones because I need her at every event from here on out! Words cannot describe how thrilled and grateful I am to have had Ginny photograph our wedding this past September. We looked long and hard for someone who knew how to not only work in natural light, but make it look like magic - and boy, did she! We skipped a videographer altogether because we had such confidence in her work, and we could not have made a better choice. From the beginning, Ginny was so lovely to work with. She made the months leading up to the wedding simple and seamless on her end. The day of the wedding itself, she blended right in. She flitted around and did all of her photography things without requiring any guidance from us whatsoever. She worked quickly (which we all appreciated so much), but not at the expense of quality. She made us laugh, created a comfortable atmosphere and overall just facilitated a fun, positive environment around taking pictures. I don't imagine too many brides/grooms walk away from a wedding treasuring the photo-taking part of the day, but we honestly did. It felt as if that was the only time that we really got to enjoy and focus on one another. Thanks Ginny for helping us find that in the midst of wedding chaos! We have our photos now and could not be happier. They are beautiful, personal and reflect exactly who we are and how our wedding day was. Ginny captured every moment we wanted and every moment we could have never prepared her for. She's a visionary and, more importantly, just a lovely human being.

I'm so glad we found Ginny as the photographer for our engagement shoot and our upcoming wedding! She is beyond ordinary! Imagine she was 7 months in when she was shooting 4 hours indoor and outdoor with us going up and down! We were so worried that she couldn't handle the long hours standing and working, but she even comforted us not to worry about her and kept us at ease the whole time Not to mention that when we saw the sneakpeak the next day, we were totally amazed by Ginny's incredible talent of capturing emotion through natural light and postures! We've received so many compliments already on our photos. Can't wait to see Ginny's magic on our wedding day!

Ginny, you had me at penguins and sausage suits... Literally, that was how the first conversation that my husband and I had with Ginny went when we met her for our consultation. And she had us as clients at that point. The minute we got engaged, I went on on frenzy trying to lock down a photographer. Photography was very important to us and the photographer I initially wanted to book was booked a year and 3 months out. She gave me some recommendations with Ginny being on the list. At that point, I must have met with about 10 photographers and emailed about 20 of them. When I browsed through Ginny's portfolio, I noticed something very different with her work. Lover of light? Check! Soft, romantic style? Check! Meticulous to detail? Check! But what stood out was what her photos made me feel. I'll never forget seeing one of her photos and tearing up at the image of a stranger embracing her father. It wasn't just one photo. Ginny has a rare talent of documenting not just the moment but an emotion behind the moment. This prompted a meeting with her to see if we as a couple was a good fit with her. The tricky thing as a bride is to make sure you and your fiancee feel comfortable around your photographer. If not, it shows in your photos. The minute we spoke with Ginny, we somehow detoured our conversation from telling about how we met to penguins and sausage suits. We knew we would hit it off with Ginny's down to earth and fun personality. She has an infectious laugh that makes you want to laugh with her. She's very good at making you feel like you're just hanging out with a friend who happens to be a very talented and revered photographer. She went through realistic expectations, logistics, and presented everything clearly at the consultation like clock work. You could tell, it was not her first rodeo. She was clear, honest, and to the point, which I appreciated. Communication via email was easy and efficient. Her payment app made payment very easy. For the quality of work Ginny delivers, we felt like her prices were very fair. But wait...let me tell you about her work. Every photographer has their own thing. They present that thing in their portfolio. Some photographers, its their bread and butter. They stick to their portfolio and take photos of you that look exactly like their portfolio. Nothing changes, almost like a cookie cutter photo book. Ginny is different. She utilizes her space, environment, and mood of the situation to create something different. If you go through her portfolio, not 1 photo album look alike. They are unique and catered to that couple. Ginny is hard working and will go through brushes (literally) and hoops in order to get a good shop for you. You know that ridiculous meme of those photographers laying in puddles to get a specific angle and effect of a photo. I could see Ginny doing something wild like that to get her shot. For ours, she braved through questionable dried brushes, where snake sightings were forewarned and got on some wonky stools to get an aerial shot of the bridal party. Gotta love her. She stuck by my stringent timeline to the tee. And got some incredible shots. Our family and all of our friends were in awe of her work. They kept gushing how they could feel the joy and love in her photos. We were speechless. When we got back our photos, I never thought wedding photos would make me cry the way our did. But somehow Ginny managed to capture the most poignant and cool shots. Not to mention the most meaningful and minuet details that even I didn't think of capturing. For instance on my bouquet, laid a locket with my grandmother's photo in it. I kept her close because she passed away about 12 years ago. She somehow found it on my bouquet, opened it and shot a photo of my grandmother. It moved me to tears. Ginny's photo made my grandmother's memory into her presence at our wedding. It was as if she was there. Capturing moments like that, it wasn't luck. It is duly because Ginny has a great command of her attention to detail and she's just simply incredible. I was so excited to get another chance to work with Ginny! The last time i worked with her was in 2013 for a maternity and boudoir shoot. Two years later and it was time for a mommy/me and family shoot. I wish I can give her more than 5 stars - she's beyond awesome! I was really nervous about the shoot this time because my 2 year old can be a little terror sometimes. But Ginny was so wonderful - she was so patient and so great with him! We shot in her studio for about 2 hours and she was totally considerate and thoughtful of everyone's time (especially the little one). We even captured some shots of the little one's snack time - the pics totally cracked me up (so sorry about the ham!) We captured so many awesome shots that I bought all the prints. It took less than two weeks for her to send me the gallery - she has such a good eye and i love how fast she works. Just amazeballs. So happy that I found Ginny - thanks for capturing all these precious moments. read more

I'm taking a break from being a wedding insider and turning into a wedding reviewer because Ginny is just that good. Seriously, I have never written a review for another vendor, but having done over a hundred weddings in the past 5 years it's easy to tell when a person is just above and beyond. Most importantly, obviously her images are gorgeous and speak for themselves. My review is based mostly on the personality and professionalism side of things the average bride would never see but ultimately notice/ feel. For reference, I am a wedding videographer and have worked with 100+ photographers over the years. Ginny is at the top of the list and one of the few who integrates warmly and effortlessly with the video team. She can balance being "in charge" when it comes to groups and couple's photos while still being present. Specifically I remember one series of large group photos that had to be knocked out one after the other. In that moment, rather than just focusing on what she needed to do (normal), she had the presence of mind to turn and ask if we needed anything and did it with a smile. Her warmth is genuine no matter whom she's around and this was a relief. She hasn't let her success affect how she treats people around her and although that may not be at the top of your list when researching photographers, believe me it is HUGE in how the overall bridal party + team of vendors get along on the day of. Her photos alone are top-notch, but if you're curious about personality and collaboration with other vendors (specifically video) on the day of, then take it from an insider: she is the best in every aspect. read more

The best decision I made for our wedding(besides choosing my wife as the bride...) is having Ginny catalog our journey, from our Civil Ceremony, to our Engagement photos, to our Grand Wedding Ceremony/Reception at Kohl Mansion. She has been great! She is easy to work with, and super patient with our probably the two most indecisive people she'll ever work with. I don't think I need to mention how amazing her work is but, I will! IT'S AMAZING!!! We received compliments after compliments on our engagement pictures, and every one at the wedding was extremely impressed with her professionalism. We received our online photo gallery of our wedding day yesterday. The pictures are beautiful! We look forward to sharing the beautiful wedding pictures with all of our friends and family. Ginny Silver is The. Most. Amazing. I am so incredibly happy with Ginny's level of enthusiasm, professionalism, artistry, and finished product. Our wedding photos are so beautiful and enchanting. My husband has remarked many times since our wedding that working with Ginny was one of the highlights of our wedding day. And this is from a man who does not like to be photographed! When I introduced myself to Ginny I told her I was a little bit of a "shy" bride. I didn't want to be photographed in various states of undress while getting ready. She totally understood. Ginny popped in and out so unobtrusively that we were really able to relax. She captured totally sweet moments of my daughter as her mama transformed into a bride. Our "First Look" photos are some of my favorites, capturing the joy of seeing each other right before the wedding, adoring each other. Such sweet moments. Ginny made us both feel so comfortable posing for her. Our friends and families have gushed over our pictures. And am so excited now to order our wedding album. The hardest part is picking our favorites, there are so many favorites! I am absolutely smitten with Ginny's pictures. A true artist. read more

I'm so thankful for Ginny Silver! I knew that it was priority that we got a good photographer to capture our special day, because after our big day, it's all we'll have! I searched and searched for a portfolio with a dreamy, airy feel. I was looking for someone who took romantic photos with a lot of natural lighting, photos that looked natural; her portfolio was exactly what I was looking for. Let me just babble on about her... 1.) Her personality is so fun! We had a great time doing our engagement session with her and our wedding photos! She made us feel so comfortable, like we were out with a good friend. 2.) So professional. Ginny always replied to my emails quickly and was on top of it. She made the whole process of booking and planning so easy! 3.) Ginny always checked out our locations beforehand. For our wedding day, we went to an off location spot to take some photos with fields and hills behind us. Ginny checked it out and found a few spots that I didn't even know of. 4.) She was such a great help the day of our wedding. The day goes by so fast, but she and our wedding coordinator were always on the same page. I didn't have to stress out about anything. 5.) She captured every little detail of the wedding--all the DIYS and the hard work that went into planning the wedding--she captured beautifully with her photographs. 6.) Even the way she sends us our photos is beautifully packaged! She's great. 7.) She got our photos to us QUICK! Immediately, she sent us a preview, and in a couple weeks we had all our photos ready to view! I'm so thankful for Ginny! read more

Ginny is the cat's meow. She is an amazing women and photographer. She was more than a photographer for me on our wedding. She saved the day. This is how our story began, I met Ginny on my wedding day. Right when she walked through the door she made me feel so relaxed and comfortable. She is a firecracker, a blue serge. She got the ball rolling and kept it rolling. I mentioned to her in her questionnaire that I had a chair I wanted to sit on in a photograph and she remembered it for me. She was prompt and kept me on schedule with pictures and our wedding. After our ceremony we took pictures. She was a hoot! She was dancing around to entertain our children for the pictures. She did a fabulous job keeping me relaxed and my husband comfortable (He hates taking pictures). After all of the family portraits and bridal party portraits, we realized my dad took the keys to my car. I have a son and he is not yet a year old, so mind you we needed a car seat. My husband and I were stumped on what to do. Ginny right away offered to take my son and I. She had a car seat for her son. We finished taking pictures and then she drove me to my reception. She saved my wedding and precious time, while taking stunning photographs for us. She has an amazing gift! I recommend Ginny for all weddings!! She is brilliant! My advice: book Ginny for anything and everything you need photographed. If your goal is to capture candid, emotional, intimate, loving moments with lots of negative space and warm light, than Ginny is your girl. Trust her and her husband's eyes: they are an amazing team that will capture the most beautiful moments that you took for granted. I cannot say enough nice things about Ginny and Retrospect Images. Seriously, nothing I write can really do her and her services justice, but I'll try. My husband and I were scrupulous with our research for the perfect wedding photographer, it was our #1 priority for the wedding day. Ginny was the most professional, kind hearted, responsive, and talented photographer we found after months of research. She was incredibly helpful during the wedding planning, and even helped me find a last minute hair stylists when mine dropped out a couple weeks before the wedding. The whole 14 person wedding party fell in love with her and her husband and she kept the whole day moving on time in a kind and courteous manner. During the wedding, I was shocked to learn that her role is not just limited to "wedding photographer" but also morale booster, confidant, comedic relief, time keeper, hair tidier, and squirrel wrangler! Don't get me wrong, our day was perfect, but any bride can admit that there are just times that you get a little overwhelmed. Ginny was quick to recognize this and would pull my husband and me aside for couple's photos to give me a chance to breath and decompress. LOVE LOVE LOVE Retrospect Images. Ginny was our wedding photographer back in May 2016. Her photos look gorgeous and makes everyone look incredibly photogenic. I think that is the one quality every couple cannot compromise on. Although her pricing seems very clear-cut on what we would receive, she was very nice and gave us some freebies and a little bit of extra photo-time. I am recommending her to all of my friends who are going to get married too! read more

My husband and I met with ginny about two years ago for our wedding. Her studio is gorgeous, she is such a breath of fresh air, and her work is truly breathtaking. She is so personable and very passionate about what she does. Last minute we decided to elope for our wedding but we talk about having a wedding at home with friends and family one day and having her photograph our future wedding. You can tell that she cherishes her clients and their love story. I think it's important to have a photograph to document those little details, one that Ginny will go above and beyond to do! read more

We had a family mini session with Ginny and were SO happy with the results! The pictures were gorgeous, she was able to capture a great range of shots of us with our 3.5 month old daughter in just 20 minutes. She is professional, organized and has wonderful energy that helps if you are at all camera shy:)! I am so incredibly grateful that we found Ginny to photograph our wedding day. She is so sweet, so fun, and SO talented!! We are normally pretty awkward people when someone asks us to pose for a photo... but not with Ginny. She gave us a few simple directions and made us feel so relaxed and comfortable, it never felt awkward at all. Having our private portraits with her was so fun, it was actually one of the highlights of our wedding day. We still giggle to each other about her trying to get a shot of us close, but not actually kissing (I did say she made us comfortable!), to the point where she'd have to say, "ok, wait... wait for it... ... ok, *get him, Crystal!*" She sent us a "sneak peek" of several shots a day later, which was so fun and special to see so soon. Considering she has a newborn infant and a tiny kiddo at home, we were very impressed by the quick turn around, her constant communication with us (even during maternity leave!), and her seemingly effortless ability to balance being a dedicated business woman and awesome mom. We just got our full album a few days ago, and we are just in AWE of the gorgeous photos. We knew we'd love them, but WOAH. Every single shot is just visually stunning, but also so meaningful and really captures the magic of our day. (Honestly, we got over 1000 perfect photos, but we felt that hiring Ginny was well worth it after just the sneak peek set. Now it's like we're getting away with something!!) And finally: she hires excellent people to work with. We adored our second shooter, Jaime, who took some absolutely PERFECT shots that we wouldn't have gotten without her help. Ginnie sure made our wedding look beautiful! It's been a month after my wedding and I'm still getting compliments on my wedding photos. (Got 2 today). I've finally decided what I want for my next tattoo: Ginny's lovely face. Ok, maybe not, but now that I have your attention, you need to contact her asap if you need a stellar photographer. I can ramble on about how professional yet friendly and easy-going she is, I can sing her praises for her commitment to her work and you the client and her reliability to contact you and her swift replies, I could yelp about what a doll she is and how much everyone at my wedding party (because that was not a reception, it was a PARTY) raved about her and what a cool photographer she is and how they ALL admire her work and demeanor. And I can upload all the 100's of photos I just received (hello, my wedding was 9/28 of THIS year, I have heard some horror stories of other photographers taking months to get pics edited and out) and you could witness how bad-ass the pictures look (serious vintage touch, which is EXACTLY what I wanted). Beautiful, gorgeous, love her love her love her. But I won't. Her brilliance speaks for itself. You just need to find out for yourself. And do it soon, because this girl is goin to the top. read more

Working with Ginny is the best decision we made for our wedding. She is kind, funny, smart, and extremely patient. She made my husband and I feel so comfortable and at ease while taking photographs of us at our wedding. Ginny thinks through the smallest details to help make everything seamless in both coordinating the photo taking process and within the photos themselves. Ginny blends in with everyone and works well with all vendors. She is direct when needed but always professional and kind. Our photos are INCREDIBLE and everyone who sees them agrees. I have no words to express the amazing talent Ginny of Retrospect Images has! She is truly gifted and so kind. I've worked with 3 other photographers in the past 2 years with my daughter and I can say I've found the photographer who I will work with again and again. She knows how to work with children (my daughter is 2) and captures the true innocence they have. She takes time and works from all angles to get the right shot. Ginny is fast and her editing is beautiful! If you are looking for a family photo session or just want to get some shots of your child I highly recommend Retrospect Images! Ginny was a dream to work with. I researched and scoured the internet to find a photographer with a style I liked and I kept coming back to her website! She was organized, responsive, bubbly and most of all PATIENT AS HELL when it came to herding cats a.k.a. "big family photos" and the "already kind of drunk wedding party members." She made people who feel awkward in front of a camera and don't normally take romantic mushy photos ACTUALLY seem photogenic like some kind of witchcraft! The pictures were gorgeous! They are framed all over our house (I guess that's normal, but let's just say there are more than a normal person would hang up because they are the only good pictures of us! HA) My wedding was in June 2018 and it has been fun to keep up with her on social media to see all her gorgeous work, also fun to see our own wedding photos pop up from time to time on her account! Sorry it took me so long to leave my review Ginny, I'm the worst I know... but a year and a half later I'm still stoked about recommending her! read more

There is no question as to if I would work with Ginny with Retrospect Images again-- she is incredibly talented. I have done makeup and hair for many photographers, and she is by far the most pleasant to work with while producing the most amazing photos--this girl is a natural! She is very comfortable to be around, and for a lot of people getting their picture taken can be slightly uncomfortable, but with Ginny, there is not an ounce of negative judgement, which creates a very open environment. I would recommend Retrospect Images photography to anyone and for any type of event. She has pure talent and that is something that can not be overlooked- her photos speak for themselves. read more

Ginny's work speaks clearly for itself, so there's really no point in me writing this review except to brag that I had the honor of being a client. Before dragging my partner in crime down the isle this fall, I wanted to get some nice pictures of us just in case we party too hard in Vegas, and end up having only mug shots of each other to hang in our jail cells. After sending my inquiry, Ginny quickly responded and was very accommodating to all two thousand of my emails including my request of having only blue and white m&ms waiting for us at the shoot ( im kidding.) When picture day finally rolled around, she was ready,friendly, cool, and had a lot of great ideas for our photos. Hubs in training was a little nervous since the last time he had photos taken of him were his Kmart modeling days ( not kidding,) but Ginny made us both laugh and feel so comfortable , he even had to admit when it was over that it was fun. Her photographs come out so great, it made us wish we were millionaires and could hire her as our personal paparazzi so our life could look as fabulous as Brangelinas... In photos anyway. We are happy customers, even the delivery of the cd was beautiful so get off of here and give Retrospect Images a call already. Did I mention her prices are amazing too? Go, go book now before we win the lottery and she's no longer available to the public. read more

Ginny exceeded our expectations. She and her husband are a class act. They make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. The few posed pictures are traditional and expected, but the natural candids are spectacular. Ginny's distinct photographic style is best described as romantic. She is an artist with a camera. I would absolutely work with Ginny of Retrospect Images again---she is a total doll and a pleasure to work with! My boyfriend and I set up a couples shoot with Ginny for early April but we had to reschedule due to stormy weather. She was awesome at keeping in touch before and after the shoot and she is very professional and prompt! We shot for about 1 1/2-2 hours and the time literally flew by because we were all having so much fun. It wasn't until Ginny realized she had already snapped 700 pictures that we decided to call it a day. She was awesome at getting the good shots without shooting the same thing over and over. She gave excellent instruction and positive feedback throughout the whole shoot and I definitely got at least 20 pictures that I adore and can use in my portfolio. She also had a preview of the first few images sent to me by the end of the night and I had the rest of the photos by mid-afternoon the next day! Getting magazine quality photos was too easy---the credit all goes to Ginny. Her work speaks for itself. What you see; beautiful, quality, romantic and timeless photos, is exactly what you get. I definitely recommend working with Ginny for any of your photographic needs---she's truly got talent and you'll actually enjoy being photographed! read more

Met Ginny this past weekend- she was a secondary photographer on a bridal shoot that I was part of. From the moment I met her she was extremely friendly and very outgoing. When shooting she was awesome with direction, concise and clear with her verbiage, and physically showed me ideal poses per each situation. She was super sweet very professional, while maintaining an easy-going attitude, and sent me a preview of the images hours after the shoot. I really wanted to document my pregnancy with a maternity shoot, so my husband and I met up with Ginny in a location she found in Mountain View about 5 days before our son was born in my 39th week of pregnancy. Needless to say, I was a very large and irritable pregnant lady, but our shoot with Ginny was so much fun due to her upbeat and easy-going personality, and she made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I cannot tell you how stunned I was at the gorgeous photos that Ginny captured of us and my ginormous belly. I really was not looking my best that day (!), but Ginny's talent is amazing! Our photos are simply breathtaking and truly capture the love and excitement we were feeling about our impending arrival. I have already picked out several that I am going to have framed! My boyfriend and I recently worked with Ginny doing our first photoshoot as a couple. She was absolutely wonderful and made the day a great experience! We never regret our decision to choose Ginny as our wedding photographer. Ginny was very detail oriented, professional but also friendly and funny. She has this full-of-energy aura around her that makes you feel very comfortable. We love how Ginny's focus was entirely on us throughout the wedding day. My husband and I found Retrospect Images on Yelp and immediately fell in love with Ginny's style and ability to capture candid moments. She was quick to respond to my questions and made it so easy to decide that we wanted her as our photographer for our engagement and wedding. Before taking any photographs, Ginny gave us a questionnaire that asked about what qualities we wanted out of our photographs. She definitely listened and delivered. For our engagement shoot, Ginny gave us advice on how to prepare our clothes and props. Little did she know that we would bring all sorts of crap. A can of soup, an easel, humongous wine glasses...we didn't know what we were doing. Ginny made it all work and we had a lot of fun. When we got our preview, we were so happy and excited that she would be photographing our wedding as well! We had a meeting before the wedding to get the schedule straightened out along with all the small details. When it was the actual wedding day, she helped us stay on track and put us at ease. We probably drove Ginny crazy with our weird ideas about incorporating Arnold Schwarzenegger into our wedding ceremony but she stuck by us and went along with it. We received our photos in a gorgeous wooden box with the digital files, prints, and three glass vials with mementos from our wedding. Our canvas that we received from the photo registry looks great too! Looking through everything, we get to experience our special day all over again and we couldn't be happier with the results. We definitely recommend Retrospect Images! Message from the husband: Ginny may be a Silver, but her work is pure gold. read more

Ginny is the best! We were looking for a photographer whose style focused more on natural light. While Ginny was at the top of our photography budget, it was well worth it. She made us feel comfortable right from the get-go, had cookies baked for our first meeting, was easy going, but was also very professional. She was also flexible in letting us leverage one hour from our wedding package to do our engagement shoot (was totally understanding that we were at the top end of our budget). We were amazed at how quickly she delivered the fully edited photos for both our eshoot and wedding. The photos and our experience with Ginny exceeded our expectations. I can't thank Ginny enough for all that she has done for us! She is the best photographer anyone can ask for on their big day! I just had my wedding yesterday and I would not be on Yelp writing a review if it wasn't because I'm so thankful for Ginny! I've had the privilege to work with Ginny on our engagement shoot, City Hall ceremony and actual wedding ceremony day. She goes out of her way to make sure everything is organized, well thought out and everyone is comfortable. She took her time to review my timeline for every event and made sure we had time for everything we had scheduled. Without her, my timeline for my wedding day would've been too rushed. Not only is Ginny a talented photographer who can always capture the right light, she is a responsible business owner who is always responsive, responsible and honest. We love the pictures she took for us at engagement and City Hall -- she definitely captured the moment above and beyond the actual moment. For our big day, I forgot that we had a 10 hour booking, I thought it was only 8, she was the one who reminded me of the extra 2 hours. She was prompt to every photo shoot and went out of her way (aka even if it's risking her life falling off a slope hill, or climbing things even when she was pregnant or laying flat on grass) to take the best angles of pictures. She kept me on my schedule and suggested when it was the best time to take pictures. Ginny is simply brilliant and she took the pressure off of me on my big day -- her help and coordination made it easy to go through the chaos. As a wedding photographer, she not only possess the eye of art photography, she is professional, kind, fun, and simply a pleasure to work with. read more

I need to start by apologizing to Ginny...This review is about 5 months late... Ginny is amazing! I was looking for a photographer to for a maternity shoot. I was looking specifically for someone with a beautiful studio and an eye for glamourous pictures. Thankfully, I found Ginny on yelp. I was drawn to her for many reasons: 1. Her pictures speak for themselves. They are beautiful! I absolutely adore her style and eye for details. 2. Her studio is gorgeous! It's white, and full of sunshine and lovely! It looks like a dream. 3. I loved her honesty! It's so true that you and your photographer need to be a good match and I really appreciated reading about her and what inspires her in a client So, with all of that in mind, I sent Ginny a message describing myself and what I was looking for. I included several photographs to give her an idea of my vision for the photo shoot. She responded right away and we were able to book a session. I contacted her several times in preparation for my session and she was always timely with her response and very helpful! She was able to recommend places where I could buy beautiful lingerie for my shoot. She also set me up with a fabulous hair/makeup artist- Kat Tinney A-List makeup. I really like being able to contact Kat prior to my session so that we could be on the same page for what I had in mind. Originally, I had planned to have a very simple shoot with just a few specific images. As I began to pack for the day, my suitcase got fuller and fuller. I warned Ginny ahead of time that I was likely to bring my whole closet (at least everything that fit me at the time) and she assured me she could help guide me in the right direction. On the day of the shoot, Ginny and Kat were waiting for me at the studio. It was even more beautiful tat I had expected. Ginny was so warm and friendly, and it was so great to have time to get to know her while I was getting my hair and markup done. During that time, she also unpacked my ridiculously full suitcase and put together several beautiful looks for me, including shoes and accessories. During my shoot, Ginny made me feel beautiful and comfortable! (This was especially reassuring for a very pregnant, barely clothed/fully nude boudoir shoot). Even my 2 1/2 year old toddler who made a cameo with my husband for a few shots, was cooperative, smiling and agreeable to wear a fairy dress (I hadn't been able to get her into any dress in months) 2 weeks later, my photos were ready to view. I returned to Ginny's studio to see pictures of me and my family laid out on every surface of the room. And let me just say...they were gorgeous!!! Ginny helped me organize them and select the most beautiful images (an impossible task) for my book. When the book was ready, she delivered it to my house. She also mailed my the digital prints on a beautifully packaged flash drive. She even sent me a few surprises. I'm not going to lie, I spent more money than I had planned, but it was worth every penny! I love to look at these beautiful pictures and have many displayed around my home. Ginny's bubbly personality, eye for style and beauty and attention to every detail make her a phenomenal photographer. I can't recommend her enough! Thank you Ginny!!! read more

I worked with Ginny recently on a whim after seeing her pictures through a friend and cannot rave enough about her work. Every image was equally stunning and it was near impossible to pick which ones in the end I liked the best as they were all stellar. She captured my 2.5 year old to a tee and caught him in a way that no other photographer has been able to, with smiles! Her studio is equally amazing and beautiful, clean, and she is very professional. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for any kind of photography as she clearly is extremely talented. read more

I had been watching Ginny's work through the years on her website and facebook. I KNEW as soon as we made the wedding date official, she was who I wanted to shoot my wedding. She had a certain style I loved, vintage/whimsical/romantic look. However, seeing we were getting married in South Carolina and she was based in California, it didn't make sense to book her. So after much hurt I started searching for photographers. I looked at EVERYONE in the SC/NC area. I looked at different people I saw get married before me and their wedding pictures. I just didn't like the style of all the work I saw . "To me", your wedding should tell a story. It's not just snapping pictures and being done with it. I wanted our photographer to be able to tell my love story even AFTER the wedding (by the pictures) So as time went on my sweet husband saw how frustrated I got and knew that photography "for me" was going to be the MOST important part of my wedding. So we spoke with Ginny. She worked with us on our photography package and we booked her. Not only was she understanding about it being a destination wedding, but when my mother unexpectedly passed away 7 months before the wedding, we moved the whole wedding to Nashville to be closer to my family. It was a big change, but Ginny was so amazing and sweet about the whole thing. When our special day got here, we were different than most couples getting married. Due to it (technically) being a renew of vows, having a two and four year old and more older guests of my family, we decided to have the ceremony and reception done in only 3 hours. In that amount of time, she and her husband were able to get ALL the moments I wanted. She did AMAZING work and was so wonderful with our children. I would recommend Retrospect Images to anyone! My boyfriend and I recently worked with Ginny of Retrospect Images for our a couples photo shoot and she made the experience easy, comfortable and fun. We had no specific reason for taking photos other than wanting some quality shots of us together, so we really wanted them to be simple and as true who we are as a couple. To say that I am slightly obsessed with how our shots turned out is an understatement. They are absolutely gorgeous! Ginny was super accommodating when it came to our choice of location and our wish to include our dog in our shots. She did such an awesome job of working him into some beautiful shots. Her instructions were always simple and great and she continuously offered positive feedback (Disclaimer: You may leave your shoot feeling like a supermodel...like my boyfriend did). The entire process felt natural and before we knew it, we had been shooting for over an hour and she had taken hundreds of shots. After the shoot, Ginny went as far as keeping me updated on her editing of the photos and letting me know when she would have them ready. She even sent us a preview of some of the best shots within hours after the shoot! I immediately shared those shots on Facebook and got so many wonderful comments about how beautiful and romantic we looked...thanks to Ginny and her incredible photographic talent. It was such a pleasure working with Ginny! She was absolutely amazing! I am a hair and make up artist @ http://dezidoll.com and work with many photographers. As a professional and a client I was very pleased with her talent for photography and professionalism. She was very easy to talk to and chose a theme and location perfect for our personality. I was very happy with how she captured our style and dynamic as a couple! I absolutely LOVED our photos and she got them to us so quickly! There were so many great shots, I was amazed! She even captured some cool shots I had no idea she had gotten. As a couple we have a very unique and retro style. We took photos with our 1953 Chevy Bel Air which she captured beautifully and had gotten some very cool photos of the car alone for us as well, which I had no idea she had gotten! Ginny of Retrospect Images is an incredibly talented, delightfully professional, and artistically exceptional photographer. My husband and I can't recommend her enough!! The wedding photos she of us took turned out more beautiful than we could have imagined! She, with the assistance of her husband Mike, perfectly captured the mood and emotions of our wedding day. One of the most important parts to us in planning our wedding was finding a photographer to document the details and overall feeling of the day in a casual, unposed way. Ginny provided us with exactly what we had hoped for and more! She is a joy to be around and made us feel relaxed on a day filled with overwhelming emotions. This was important to us because it allowed us to enjoy our day naturally without our celebrating being interrupted to formulate a cookie-cutter image of a wedding through unnatural stiff poses. Rather, it felt like she and Mike were there as a part of the celebration, and casually documented the whole thing without anyone noticing. We just adore them! On top of Ginny being an amazingly talented photographer, professionally she goes above and beyond. She is extraordinarily easy to work with, especially within the world of wedding vendors. She was always fast to respond to questions, helpful even in unrelated matters such as recommending other wedding professionals to us, surprised us with a preview of our photos the morning after our wedding which was so fun to share with everyone before the excitement of the day had even faded, and sent us out the full set of photos in an heirloom box faster than we expected! Also important is her artistic sensibility and the emphasis she places on the tangible in this increasingly digitally-dominated world. Her use of natural light is outstandingly gorgeous, even in our case, under trees in the Sunset district of San Francisco where bright light isn't overly abundant. She places importance on the small details in her photos including expertly framing her images, as well as to the details in everything she sent us, that were packaged beautifully. We were ecstatic to receive her hand-selected printed photos in a beautiful handmade wooden box, along with three special elements she chose of our day, which included a eucalyptus leaf to remind us of the scent at our venue, all of this as a unique and special way to send us our digital photos on a USB in the form of a gift we will treasure forever. It was the kind of thoughtful collection of memorabilia that we could have only received from Ginny. We loved it so much we ordered an album from her as well. We are overjoyed with the quality, flawless artistry, and perfect selection and juxtaposition of photos in her album design! It is not easy to sum up how happy we were to have chosen Ginny as our wedding photographer with a reasonable amount of exclamation points! She exceeded any expectations we could have had of her in every way possible before, during, and after our wedding. We have gotten so many nice compliments about our photos and will be able to relive the day through them forever. Photography was the huge splurge in our intended-to-be-low-budget wedding, but was totally worth every penny. Our wedding was held outdoors in the evening at our farm, and I knew just from the photos on Ginny's website that her aesthetic and shooting style were a perfect fit for what we were planning. Even the look and feel of her website itself had the vibe of our wedding, and when I read her bio I knew it would be worth the three hour drive to meet with her. We ended up doing an engagement session in addition to hiring Ginny (and Mike) to shoot our wedding and both were so incredibly worth doing! The day of the wedding was so stressful, that having already met and worked with Ginny made it great as I could pretty much not worry about touching base with her or getting comfortable with the camera. I had already seen photos she had taken of me and felt more at ease with the camera aimed in my direction. She and Mike were absolutely great at catching people both candidly and formally, and even candidly in formal situations! She also caught so many of the details that we worked so hard on. The engagement session was done at my generations-held family cabin and the wedding was at our farm, so in addition to shooting great images of us, she has also now exquisitely documented two very dear properties and heirlooms for our family history. We couldn't afford to add any albums to our package, but we have so many amazing images between both sessions, and with both in hi-res on USB we can share them all with friends and family. She also created an unexpected 5 minute slide-show that we could view and share, that has some beautiful diptych and triptychs so I know how she would have placed photos adjacent to each other in an album if I want to recreate them when we make prints or frame images. She even went so far as to use the music from our ceremony as the soundtrack to the slideshow, so it completely takes me back to the moment. To sum up, Ginny has a great eye. The resulting photos are a wonderful balance of up close, vibrant detail, dreamy solar flare, traditional framing, and more editorial framing that offer great perspectives. Our final album was mostly color, but with some images in black and white to highlight lighting and contrast. All of our family will be able to pick photos from the album to match their aesthetic. It was totally worth blowing this backyard wedding budget... we worked really hard to make our wedding a special day and Ginny captured it all so well... it makes up for the day coming and going in such a blur to be able to go back and revisit the images of it. read more

Had the greatest time doing photo shoots with Ginny. She captures the beauty of life within the family through the lens of ordinary life. For our engagement photos, as promised, Ginny blew us away.
