Having a child in band means something will go wrong with their instrument. As expected, we had trouble unscrewing the Baritone valves for a whole year. Tried everything. Finally, took it to Rettig and the owners were so helpful and got the valves out and even cleaned and oiled it. i offered to pay but they refused to accept any money. What great service! Rettig Music continued to have us pay for a cello long after we had paid for the cello. They continued to send us coupon booklets as if we needed to continue our monthly payments. In all, we overpaid nearly $2000 dollars above the price of the cello. We finally contacted them when our child graduated and we were still making payments. At that point they informed us we had overpaid. However, they could not refund us. We could however apply what we had paid for a new cello. Grudgingly we did this. However, adding insult to injury, they would not apply our overpayment to the case or bow a total of $178. In short, be extremely careful if you rent or buy an instrument from this company and keep track of your own payments. read more

I would like to recognize fantastic service provided by Dan Stevens at the Sawmill Road, Dublin OH, location! Our son was having problems with sticking valves on his baritone. He had a school concert the day he told of the issue. Dan was happy to and able to do a quick cleaning so he could play that evening without difficulty or mishap. I had purchased a cello for my daughter . I purchased not leased. I was told if she had to get a bigger size I could trade this back in on the new one and they would subtract out the tuneup cost and give me the difference in credit towards the purchase of a bigger size. We brought it back after my daughter had used it 4 to 5 times and they wouldn't give me anything close to what I paid they offered me less than half of what I originally paid for it and said sorry we don't do that even though the sales person told me they would. I will never purchase anything from this company again. If you read the reviews this is not the first time they have treated their customers badly. I called and they said that I had almost payed off my sons cello. And we had 150 dollars left. We had been paying on it for 3 years and it was a 3/4 size. We paid extra payments for a year after being told this. I went in today and they told me I had 400 more dollars to pay on it. Wow! Very inaccurate information given over the phone! My daughter was looking for a step up flute, so she wanted to try the Azumi 3 as well as the Haynes Q1 and Q2. Rettig was able to hold all 3 flutes so my daughter was able to try them back to back. After playing them all several times, she decided on the Azumi 3. She was a little bummed when she found that the Azumi didn't come with plugs for the open hole keys and a couple of the keys were problematic for her small hands. Our sales person said that it didn't come with plugs but they could make them at the store within a day or two. As we finished up the paperwork, he had done some behind the scenes magic and had their technician make the plugs while we were doing the paperwork. We were absolutely thrilled that we were able to take the flute with us. From rounding up all the flutes, to making the purchase and everything in between, they were Awesome! Great store! Very personable, caring and understanding. My son's neckstrap had broken just hours before he had to take the field for the homecoming game. He called me, and I called Rettig. I was stuck in traffic, but they stayed open so I could get a neckstrap. Very awesome! read more

They don't mention a credit check. You should probably check your credit score before going here. Seems like you need a 750 or higher just to rent a clarinet. This place is a joke. They are MONEY HUGRY. I recommend Music & Arts they know what their doing. read more

They were fine with my first child's instrument rental. My second child, however, is a different story. We rented it for the school year and returned it in the summer. Every month, however, I keep getting charged for a rental we no longer have and was turned in months ago. It's really agitating that I have to check every month to make sure we aren't being charged. Other than that, the people have been nice and every time I call (every month now) they apologize. Still very irritating. read more

Rep. from the company was at the school for my son's fitting. The enrollment rental seemed easy and a smooth transition. They were to deliver the instrument to the school. A couple days later I get an email that my application was denied due to my credit. They gave the option of purchasing a used instrument or having someone else apply. They could not give me what an acceptable credit score range was. Exasperated......I had my ex-wife complete the application and she was also denied! A neighbor referred me to Colonial Music in Westerville. I can not speak enough about how nice and professional they were. My son has use of a new trumpet and case! read more

Poor service, clerks are rude. I spoke to several different clerks (on the phone and in person), both abrupt and failed to answer questions. At one point the clerk helping me on the phone just transferred me without answering the question. I called the store (over 8 times) during business hours until someone answered the phone as no one returned my messages (3 in all). Very poor customer service. read more
