And points me in right directions while still giving me similar to what I had in mind but in a way that suits me best. Jessica is also just the best vibe reader. If you want to gossip and talk? She will gossip and talk. If you want it to be quiet and just read or scroll, she will be mindful to only speak when it's important information and walking through steps of what she is doing for you to be informed. She fluctuates so well and is just a super kind and gentle person. In addition the head massages she gives are amazing. I am autistic and I have sensory issues up the wazoo that I can't have people touch me for long periods of time or even (3 seconds sometimes) like a massage, especially my scalp and you can imagine how tense I am if I never get the kinks and tension massaged out. For some reason, Jessica just does it right. I melt into her hands and she gives perfect pressure, she gets all the good spots, and keeps the water warm (if you like it warm). I also love the eucalyptus or water hot towel that's done at the end, so refreshing. I literally walk out the salon confident, sexy, and in a haze because I'm massage drunk and relaxed. After calling around to several locations, I lucked out and found Komi Hair Studio. They were able to take me in an hour and half so I grabbed a quick bite to eat then headed on over. Their location is in the Gramercy on the side of the building closer to Starbucks. They mentioned they are in the midst of renovation, but I thought it looked super cute inside, very adobe earth tones feel. I also love that they offer to make you a drink during your service, which I totally would have tried had I not just gotten a coffee before coming. To my delight there was a pink felt board welcoming me for my appointment! My stylist was Jenna and she is awesome! Before my haircut, she looked over my hair and asked what I was wanting (keep my length and just refresh my layers and bangs) Then she took me over to wash my hair and such a treat they do a head a massage with essential oils and top it off with a hot towel...so relaxing and such a nice personalized touch. We had nice conversation, and she took her time with my cut and gave me a great blowout. Another cute moment that stood out to me was while I was getting my blowout the sweet woman working the front desk (I forgot her name) came by with a basket of treats offering one to each of us if we wanted a snack. So sweet!! I loved my experience here at Komi, and now I know where I can go for my next cut! Highly recommend if you're looking for any hair services with a personal touch. But I needed an appointment for an "updo" for a formal event and was booked with Jaime, for Jen was booked elsewhere. Fine by me, for I would trust anyone in Style & Grace. I see Jaime around the salon and she always radiates a bit of sunshine, professional expertise and badass female vibes every time I see her. This was my first appointment sitting in her chair and I kind of knew I was in the right hands. I absolutely did not want "mother of the bride, nor Holly Hobby teen" updo. I think I stated to Jaime the need for "I'm in mid 50's, skateboarding woman, needs formal hair that shows my edgy personality, yet stylishly on point and can last until I am out until 4am and possibly over served" updo style. All while in a formal gown. LOL! The kind of style that says you cared enough to have your hair professionally done, but also messy enough to let my personality show. She nailed it! First of all this Salon is incredibly irresponsible every single time I've had an appointment they've rescheduled it, cancelled it, or were very late. What Jay does not tell you as he will initially put in your extensions and then he sticks you with a much lesser skilled stylist for all of your touchup needs and he will not deal with you until you have to put an extensions again. When Yvette had to touch up my roots which is the first time I was not happy with, the second time she asked you what color he used and he didn't even know! He didn't even write down the colors that he used on me because clearly he does not care about his clients and told her to just do what she felt like and figuring it out which ended up with her putting bleach on my hair and frying it off and over toning it until it turned a green tint color. While taking out my extensions she literally ripped off my real hair, at the root. I'm missing chunks of hair. I'm devastated. Jay responded to this by saying "well what do you want me to do?". No I'm sorry, no let's try to deep condition and salvage what you have. No refund, no accountability. He said "extensions and bleach don't damage your hair". Ummm there's a reason I said no bleach. Evil, disgusting people. I paid 4 grand to have bald spots. He's running a scam to ruin your hair so that you have to keep coming back for extensions. Save your money and you hair and buy a halo.

Everyone here is generally really nice. For $59.00, it's alright since you get your hair washed and styled. For those with long thick hair, you'll know what a struggle it is on hair wash days. So if I can pay someone to wash and style for me, that's cool in my book. Just don't go in with high expectations. Haven't left Uncommons parking area yet and 10 minutes later, my curls fell flat! So disappointed. I am currently sitting at Drybar waiting for the stylist to re-curl the hair again. It's a waste of my time to come back here. Not everyone will have the schedule that will allow them to take extra time of their day.
