Honest Take After 2.5 Years The glowing reviews for Revel have to be from short-term rentals, because my long-term experience here was anything but positive. Yes, the building looks nice and the location in the heart of NoMa is convenient, but the return on investment for the rent is absolutely zero. Safety and security were constant issues, and management never took meaningful action. During my stay, I experienced: * A melee on the roof * Visitors openly doing drugs on the roof * Vagrants sleeping in the common areas (multiple times) * Lost packages, car thefts, and break-ins * A homeless man shaking door handles and later found hiding in the trash room * Trash regularly left all over the trash room floor * Leasing staff even asking residents to call corporate to complain on their behalf The leasing team was dismissive, unprofessional, and consistently acted like residents were a burden whenever issues were raised. There's zero hospitality or customer service here--just indifference. When I finally left (I couldn't get out fast enough), they tried to charge me a ridiculous cleaning fee despite pre-existing damage noted on my move-in sheet. Do yourself a favor: look elsewhere. I've lived in several communities, and Bozzuto properties have always provided far better service and care. Revel is not the play--trust me.

"Manager"-didn't help for 2 hours while we were stuck outside on hold w/ "customer service." Should be fired-

Stay anyplace but the misnamed "Global Luxury Suites @ Revel." IF you have a problem and IF you can reach someone on their phone line (no one present at property), they will disregard you to their complete convenience. For example, we arrived at our room and it was a disaster - sheets dirty, towels wet and even hanging on the light fixtures, crud lining sinks... and this was at 11p. After nearly an hour on the phone we were moved to another room. Nothing more said. The next day, Revel starts calling and texting and telling us to move although we 1) were at work, 2) they offered neither apology nor compensation for our hassles and time and, 3) provided no notice nor assistance (we traveled with our two dogs). Their answer? We get back from meetings and are locked out with our pets inside for over 2 hours! They said we were "privileged" to have been given a higher rate room for the night we arrived and it was their error not cleaning!? That higher rate meant nothing - just an additional bed which we didn't need.... We spent 2 hours trying to access our room and then another 2 hours trying to reconcile all the other issues like our codes for another apartment and packing and moving - which was complicated since we had unpacked and bought groceries, etc. Revel always has problems - their Latch app doesn't work, no one at building will help, apartments have damage not addressed like broken lamps and holes in walls. The rude and insulting (lack of) customer service in light of their mistakes is beyond. They deserve 0 stars. Avoid them.

The location is where everything relevant to my lifestyle takes place. The concierge staff were friendly as well as welcoming. I didn't get names but the tall, dark complexion, slim gentleman that admired my white sunglasses was unbelievably polite. You never know the storm people go through and on that day, I had encountered the darkest point of my life. His kind greeting and smile gave me something to look forward to. Check in was super easy The room. Ehhhhh!!!! So the heat didn't work for the first three days out of a five or six day stay. My anemia kicked my tail on these days. I was not provided any additional linen after specifically requesting it on day 3 of my stay. I ended up going to the store to purchase detergent to wash the linens that I had already used. I was under the impression that hotel stays came with housekeeping at no additional cost but that was not the case. I was given linens after I had already washed, dried and folded the old ones. Two towels and no wash cloths. Go figure!! On May 5, 2024 I was reunited with my twin boys and decided to extend my stay so that we could spend time together. They loved everything about the location and room. I mean everything! There was an annoying knocking in the ceiling that started around 2 am and went on to 6am daily. Whenever I turned the water on for a shower, the utility closet made a whistling noise, which was nerve wracking. I had reported the issue and was told that maintenance would be out one day before I was to checkout. I'm all for paving the way, but how does that benefit me? I went out onto the courtyard in hopes of using the fireplace for ambiance and nice photos. That didn't go as planned because it didn't work. I laid on the seating for a while and noticed that bugs were crawling on me and a friend. If management checks the camera they'd see, me stripping down to my undies and throwing my clothes away as they were covered in worms. The pictures show dry grounds and wet grounds. I now have a rash on my face and I'm not sure if it's from the linen or the bugs... Update: 5/16/2024 Management reached out and asked that I reach out to discuss compensation. I did and I've yet to receive a refund Update: 5/23/2024 I called this location hoping to rectify previous issues before I went to look for another booking for May 23-28, 2024. I'll have the twins and their 10th birthday is on Monday and this is where they want to be. They'd like to visit Bowlero again as they did during their last stay, However we need to discuss the $894.96 charge for May 2-5, 2024 and the $792.17 charges for May 5-7, 2024. I'm awaiting a call and partial refund from both stays and that's just me being fair. Update: June 10, 2024 With all the problems I had, I received a text saying no compensation will be rewarded. I highly doubt that whoever sent that text has a functioning brain!!

Too bad stored blankets were unavailable for sleepers wanting more warmth than their traveling companions. We had to make a second request for one. May I also suggest providing more than one bar of mini soap bars. It's such a minuscule cost item but would obviate having to repeatedly move the precious one bar from sink to shower. We found the valet staff particularly helpful especially when navigating awkward arrivals and parking needs of our personal guests. Sean was a prince. He supervised an otherwise complicated set of logistics with competence and gentlemanly grace. Another shout out to the manager ( sou?) of the breakfast dining. We watched him rigorously oversee staff and guests while occasionally stepping in when helpful. His leadership is likely responsible for the professionalism of said staff. This is in direct contrast to the staff of the Willard across the street where we took the first breakfast of our stay. We were dismayed to have to endure extremely loud staff socializing, boisterous laughter and downright flirting. This type of behavior would have been unacceptable at the JWMarriott. This experience alone confirms our future choice of Marriott over Willard for annual DC visits.

The price for a room I guess because of the multiple conventions in the place was excessive. I think for a room, not a suite, it would have ben $750 per night during the week. I thought that was a lot so we used points, and the 1st night they had not held our King Room for us, and despite being our anniversary, we had to sleep in a double room and move the next day. Unfortunately, the double room was quiet, and the King Room had an adjoining door and we heard every little thing from the room next door. I would put this down one point, but the service, staffing and helpful Concierge made this place really nice for us.

Traveling can be exhausting, and during our stay, my son Colin often went down to the bar and restaurant on his own in the evenings and mornings. What stood out to me wasn't just the quality of the food or service--it was how the staff treated him. Every single time, he was met with kindness, respect, and genuine warmth. He ordered his meals, sat comfortably, enjoyed his time, and never once felt awkward or out of place. The staff made sure he had what he needed, checked in on him naturally, and created an environment where he felt completely at ease. As a parent, that level of care is something you never forget. For me, the experience was just as special. Corey, the bartender, was exceptional. Each evening, he made sure I had exactly what I wanted, when I wanted it, and engaged in thoughtful, easy conversation that made the space feel welcoming and safe. It wasn't just service--it was connection, and it made a long, tiring trip feel restorative. This hotel doesn't just deliver luxury--it delivers humanity. The staff understands how to read people, how to make guests feel comfortable, and how to create an atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong. I've stayed in many beautiful hotels, but this experience stands apart because of how we were treated as people. Thank you to the entire team--and especially Corey--for making this such a memorable stay. We will absolutely be back.

The bartender mentioned that this event also helps provide additional hours for staff during the slower month of August, which made me appreciate the concept even more. The Top of the Hay itself is stunning. The views and setting are exactly what you would expect from such an iconic DC property, and getting to experience a space that is typically reserved for private events made the evening feel particularly special. The drinks were also excellent. Sweet, but not overly sweet. But what really stood out was the staff. I do not say this lightly. The service was outstanding. I genuinely wish I had caught everyone's names because anyone working between roughly 4:30 and 7:30 that evening in the lobby, Off the Record, or Top of the Hay deserves recognition and a raise! Every person I interacted with was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing. What impressed me most was that the staff remembered my schedule for the evening and made sure I left Off the Record at exactly the right time so I could be the first person to step into Top of the Hay when it opened. That level of attention to detail is rare. Beautiful space, great drinks, and truly exceptional hospitality. "Be Gin the Evening" is such a clever way to let locals and visitors experience a part of The Hay Adams they otherwise might never see. I would absolutely do it again.

For the rates they charge, the conditions and service are unacceptable. The building is old, heavily dated, and features cheap fixings. Furthermore, for a five-star hotel, lacking a proper hot tub and standalone shower is unacceptable. The towels provided are cheap, rough, and feel entirely out of place at this price point. The bathroom ventilation is so old and loud, that I can't even believe it's there. No fridge in the room, only a mini bar that will charge you if you move around mini bar items to place your own drinks. The view of the White House was severely misadvertised. To actually see it, you are required to pay an extra $700 on top of an already steep $600-per-night room rate. The acoustic insulation is non-existent. If anyone is staying in the room above you, forget about sleeping--every single footstep and movement carries straight through. The front desk staff was entirely dismissive. After promising to switch our room to resolve our issues, they dragged us through three separate attempts, wasted hours of our time with non-responsive answers, and then finally demanded we pay even more money to fix their mistake.
