We booked the historic kind of love package in February. This place is beautiful and the service is top notch! We were greeted at the door and had our car valet. We were greeted immediately and checked in. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived but we were invited to the Quill for refreshments and light snacks. When the room was ready we went to the room where our luggage was already waiting for us. The room was spacious, clean, and beautiful! There was water set up on the counters and turn down service. We had reservations at the Greenhouse with pretty amazing seats right by the fireplace. The food was fantastic! We ordered the oysters, baby gem salad, and filet mignon with mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a staycation! read more

Didn't realize this was a hotel that many high profile politicians stay at! On our floor was a room who had security 24/7 that would mean mug us every time we passed by which made for an interesting experience lol. Used our Amex FHR and got to redeem $100 of dinner credit and $75 breakfast credit. For dinner their restaurant was closed on Monday night which was disappointing! We decided to order room service and got a burger, salmon taretare, truffle macaroni, and sorbet. The burger, fries, and sorbet were delicious but tare tare and macaroni left something to be desired. The salmon tartine could have had more carbs to go along with it, the thin chip could barely pick up the salmon and would break. Wish it came with more. The truffle macaroni could have been cheesier, the truffle flavor was a bit overwhelming. Burger was nice and juicy, fries fried to perfection, and ice cream flavorful and not too sweet. Really big portions of ice cream! The raspberry sorbet was our favorite. Service was good. Utilize valet because it's tough parking out here! read more

We had a short stay here on our way to our honeymoon, and it was such an A+ experience. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The hotel is luxury but it's also quaint and doesn't feel corporate, so it was a great way to unwind. The staff members are so friendly and helpful. The room was also cozy but the bathroom was enormous. This must be our 1st time using a hotel tub - it was that clean! We liked the little touches around the room, and it had everything we needed, including mildly scented lotions and toiletries. I swear some of these luxury hotels are moving towards old lady perfume scents. We especially loved the bar downstairs with the small deck and the breakfast area was like a tea room. It was one of the best hotel breakfast we've had - get the blueberry french toast. Side note, they partner with a University Club down the street for a fitness center. I stayed here for a few nights on a work trip. The hotel is amazing. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. The lobby is beautiful and has wonderful antique paintings and documents on display. I had a queen room which was really lovely (yes they are smaller rooms, but perfect for a business trip). Everything is very clean. I ate at the restaurant one night I was there. The food was very good and I really enjoyed my meal. I look forward to staying here again next time I am in DC. read more

I've travelled a lot in my day and have visited many hotels for conferences, to include grand hotels; but the Jefferson takes the cake. From the moment your car pulls up to the driveway to the moment you step out the door, you are treated like royalty. I loved the exceptional, personalized service. The concierge was by far the most courteous and professional that I have worked with. Of note, the decor within the hotels and the amenities in the room cannot be beat - from the LCD TV inside the mirror in the bathroom, the bedding, the little "personalized gifts" (in my case chocolate dipped strawberries and hotel-made shortbread) when you arrive make you really feel like a guest and not a customer. Of course the Michelin star restaurant (the Plume) in the hotel is a testament to its quality and eye for detail. The one thing I did not know about was the coffee service within the library in the morning. I will definitely need to check that out. I personally think it's best to stay during the holidays, the decor really takes you to the romanticism with a twinge of gilded age grandeur. read more

I walked into this hotel earlier this year with high expectations of a comfortable if not luxurious stay to recharge and relax. I arrived and was greeted warmly by the two front desk attendants. As the paperwork, prepared by the hotel's Front Desk, was being finalized the security guard demanded that I leave the property immediately thereby frustrating the stay and forcing me to walk on the streets of DC late at night alone. It was clear that I was intending to stay there and the hotel does not hold itself out as delivering brutality and aggression to guests so I contacted the GM in the hope of an apology but he has refused to communicate or apologize, avoiding an explanation. The message seems to be to suck up the nightmare experience. read more

Holy cow. Those of you who've read my reviews are probably a bit surprised to see me reviewing a hotel of this caliber. I freely admit that I don't usually travel like this. I like quality and all, but I'm also about finding value to go hand-in-hand with that quality. However, I was traveling for work, and my managers stay at the Jefferson, so I got to spoil myself with a stay here, as well. To start, my exposure to the hotel is in having booked my group at the hotel a gazillion times over the years. I had an image in my head of the hotel, but it did not match when I saw it in person. Oh, it was just as elegant and sumptuous as I expected, but it's also much smaller. There are only 8 floors! I had expected something much larger, for some reason. Regardless, from the moment I stepped out of my cab, I felt welcome. The doorman, the reception (and it was great to finally put faces to the names of all those people I've spoken with over the years), to the concierge - everyone was friendly and helpful. The room was very impressive. I didn't book myself in the larger room (where people like my CEO stay), but I didn't need it. This room was plenty large for little ole me, and it was very comfortable. The desk was a bit awkward to work at, with the location of the outlets (at the front of the desk, in a fake drawer), but I managed to work around that. I loved the shower - it was nice to unwind under the shower head after a long day of travel, and three hours exploring our nation's capital on foot. The bed was very comfortable, with a ton of soft pillows and easy access to a light switch that controlled a spotlight (for lack of a better term) over the pillows, which made it easy to read. And you could have knocked me over when I came back from my aforementioned explorations to find that they'd done a turn down service while I was away. That included them prepping the bed, of course, but there was also a little mat next to the bed, with a pair of slippers laid out to be used. They moved the water bottle and a glass to the nightstand, and further organized the bathroom for me. Seriously people - I *don't* travel like this, but I really want to, now! The hotel is pretty centrally located. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go (playing tourist and getting to our DC-based office, as well as restaurants and a CVS) with no problem at all. I will say that they must be unused to people using the stairs. I only used the elevator twice - checking and checking out - and took the stairs every other time. They were constantly surprised to see someone not employed at the hotel there, which cracked me up. The stairway is definitely not something they spend much attention on, but it was fine. I don't need fancy stairwells, they just need to be functional, which these were! read more

My husband and I recently stayed here and even before I left my house I received an email welcoming me to the resort and if I had any special needs. Any concerns were immediately addressed by the appropriate person. Upon arrival we were given a tour of the hotel and all the amenities. They even took our picture in front of the Greenhouse restaurant. I later learned that the Greenhouse restaurant and Plume occupy the same space but Plume is fine dinner dining. The Greenhouse is casual for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. We had a corner room with a welcome note which I found very thoughtful. Our room was exceptional with even a view facing the Washington Monument. On one of the nightstands is an IPAD which you can use for all your needs and services the hotel has to offer. Anytime we encountered a problem in the room, the staff was right on it to correct it. We had an opportunity to dine at the Greenhouse for breakfast. The restaurant is breathtakingly beautiful even down to the fine china they use for serving. The hotel has a fitness room in the basement along with a library where you can relax. If available, they have two "cabinet" rooms which are also used for lounging. We got to see the wine room and a conference room as well as Quill-one of their bars and the bar for Plume. There is even a small spa here but we never used it. The book room is worth a visit in itself. Huge books adorn the walls and there is a table for games as well as luxury chairs and sofas. In the morning they serve coffee and muffins here. The outdoor staff couldn't be more friendlier and helpful. They provided us with cold water and large umbrellas during our outings since the weather was bad. We would have our car when we needed it fairly promptly. The lobby is small but they are some of the nicest and most helpful people I had ever met. All around the hotel their are busts, prints, and writings of not only Thomas Jefferson but other founding fathers. I just took some of my free time just to walk around and capture all the detail that went into making this place so attractive. We were given complimentary WiFi, nightly turndown service, and fresh bottled waters along with ice to have in our room. Each morning we had our paper delivered in a black bag hanging on our doorknob. They think of everything here! In addition the room has a mini bar and safe. The room may be small but these people have a big heart in taking the time to make our visit one I will always remember and one worth coming back for. The Jefferson Hotel is located near Embassy Row and within a reasonable walking distance to Lafayette Square, the White House, and the National Geographic museum. Valet parking for your car is available with prompt delivery of your vehicle upon request. Otherwise you can head over to the nearest Metro stations by Farragut Park if you want to see other attractions without the hassle of driving. They will give you a map and directions. read more

This is the snazziest place I have ever stayed at in my life! It is a five-star luxury hotel for good reason. I had a queen room on the fourth floor and every single member of the staff made my stay exceptional. Shout out to the gentleman at the door Mohammed, the reception person Shannon, and the concierge and director of sales John. The personal care were well stocked and high quality, a lovely walk-in shower with good water pressure and HOT water, and I also loved the overstuffed pillows and crisp cotton sheets. It felt cool and clean every time I snuggled into bed. There were plenty of outlets and water and ice always available, plus a beautiful robe and cozy slippers that I lounged in almost exclusively when I was in the room. Truly an incredible stay; I cannot stop raving about this place and have told everyone I know that they HAVE to book a room here while in DC. read more

I just hosted a Bridal shower there yesterday and it was the best decision I ever made! The venue itself is breathtakingly beautiful and immaculate. We were given the gorgeous East Gallatin Hall. Since the beginning the coordinator was very responsive when I was looking for a venue. MJ was able to accommodate my many concerns regarding the number of guests, our religious diet restrictions, our requirements for a space to play the bridal shower games in, and the speed at which I was able to book the room so last minute was a miracle! The paperwork and everything was handled online conveniently. Amber allowed us to have an extra hour and fifteen minutes free of charge which was so kind! The servers were incredibly sweet and accommodating, they helped us put our bags and things away when we arrived, they always hung around to make sure they were around in case we needed anything. Everything was handled in a timely manner. The food was unbelievable, what else can you expect from a Michelin star restaurant?! Everything was delicious, they were able to take suggestions like asking for hard yolk in the eggs Benedict. Two of the staff kindly helped us take photos outside after the event. I have nothing but amazing things to say about the Jefferson. From Mahi at the Entrance, to Chris and Cliff at the Concierge desk to Katie at the bar. Everyone was wonderful!! The rooms were a little small, But clean and cozy. The employees were always very helpful. Mahi always helped us with any questions we had and was so nice. He always has a cold bottle of water ready for us. Cliff and Chris, were fantastic and made the best recommendations and reservations for us. So knowledgeable and sweet. Katie at quill makes the best martinis! My husband didn't see anything on the menu he wanted, so he described to Katie that he wanted something light and spicy and she proceeded to make him a great jalapeño martini. I loved this hotel and will stay here again, next time I'm in DC read more

I felt like Pretty Woman. Minus the wig and turning tricks part. So out of my league at this place! If I was forced to write a one word review of The Jefferson, it would go something like this: SUMPTUOUS. The attention to detail in this boutique hotel, both historic and otherwise, is of the obsessive-compulsive variety. The service is beyond anything I have ever experienced and I will admit it has turned me into a bit of a snob. After staying in the Deluxe Suite for two nights all future "regular hotel" stays will pale and disappoint. Likewise, I came home only to hate my own bathroom mirror because it didn't contain a TV like I have became accustomed to. This review could easily reach epic proportions if I went on and on about all the little details, all the little things that the hotel does to go out of their way in making your stay unforgettable. It isn't only the hotel that is grand and opulent. Equally worthy of praise is the hotel bar, The Quill, and the restaurant, Plume. I was lucky enough to experience food and drink from both during my stay here a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever have the pleasure of staying here again. When a hotel hosts the President of the United States, serves complimentary sweet tea in the lobby out of crystal pitchers, places porcelain goblets full of bath salts with silver spoons to scoop into your over-sized tub, delivers exquisite in-room breakfast with every detail of fine dining......it's probably too expensive to just casually check in to. And it IS expensive. Full disclosure: I was able to stay here as the "plus one" during a familiarization trip that a friend in the hospitality business was a part of. It's good to have connections who also happen to be your best friend :) Of course, one could always drop in for a spot of afternoon tea in The Greenhouse.....as soon as I'm back in DC I might do just that. Until then, I'll have to survive on olfactory memories of my stay by way of the complimentary tubes of Monticello Grove body lotion I squirreled away. It's custom made for the hotel by Red Flower and it is exquisite. I'm kind of rationing that out whenever I need a hit of luxury in my life. If you have the means, I can't recommend The Jefferson highly enough. read more

We stayed here for our Daughters graduation from The George Washington University. This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. The hotel has the feel and ambiance of a private club. Everything was spotlessly clean. The beds were unbelievably comfortable. I've never stayed at a hotel that had more bottled water provided at no charge to the guest. I feel the heart and soul of a hotel are the people that work there. Here The Jefferson set itself apart with some of the nicest people you can find. On our arrival I was greeted by Amil who I believe is the longest serving member of the staff and a great guy. Next on to the ladies at the front desk. They were warm, friendly and very helpful. This is a review for The Spa at the Jefferson. On my day off, I went to visit my colleague Janelle, who works there part-time. I didn't really need a spa service, but got my brows and lip done, which she always does a great job. I only wish more people knew about this place! Looking over their brochure, they are, to my knowledge, probably one of the most expensive spas in the area. However, they have a set price for 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes irregardless of treatment, which makes it less confusing for guests. It is located on the second floor of the hotel, and used to be a hotel suite. Thus, it is a boutique spa--only two treatment rooms here! When you enter the spa, to your left is a larger room that is used for massage. Couples' massage is a question that gets asked frequently at my job and at the Jefferson, they do offer a couples' suite. In that room is a bathroom/changing room, as well as a lovely combination steam/shower. Down the hallway is a small (single) mani/pedi station, and at the very end is a room used for facials and waxing. The skincare line they use here is Darphin, and the nail care line they use is SpaRitual, which is vegan and toxin-free. To create privacy, there are floor to ceiling curtains, which may be used to partition areas such as in the man/pedi space or reception area. Being as it is very intimate, the Jefferson has done absolutely no advertising for the spa whatsoever, with the intent of limiting it to hotel guests only. I find the idea to be absolutely ludicrous, as the majority of clientele that come to hotel spas will be local residents. You can't build repeat business without involving the locals. As an example, I'm sure the hotel spas in Bangkok did brisk business with their tourists but business plummeted when the protests limited travel to Thailand. In any case, you need to keep a few things in mind when booking an appointment here. As it is a small spa and not very active at the moment, it may take a while to confirm if they have the availability. The first few times I've called, I was directed to their main reservation line. But since reservations department does not have a copy of the spa booking program on their computer, they need to call someone at the spa to see if anyone is available. Usually if a spa isn't busy, that means their therapists are on-call. So whoever answers the phone needs to call the therapist to check their schedule, and then after they've confirmed with the therapist, they report back to you. This can be very annoying and also means you probably can't book last-minute appointments. The second thing you need to know is that since it's a converted suite, there are other hotel rooms on the spa level. Also when arriving for your appointment, your therapist may happen to be the person checking you in and cashing you out, which may be awkward for some people. Lastly, this is definitely a "quiet" spa. I know we girls can be loud and boisterous when getting our nails done, but I'm sure the people in the treatment rooms will be able to hear you. I think it's a good place if your party is 1 or 2 people, but it's not meant to accommodate more than 3 people at a time. read more

I cannot recommend the Jefferson enough! Despite all of its luxuries, like the television within the bathroom mirror, an elegant tub and bath salts, distilled water in crystal decanters, a complimentary chauffeur to get you through the city, and doormen that constantly greet you with smiling faces...I felt surprisingly at home! The staff here is nothing but warm and inviting, and treated us like we belonged, even though we were clearly unlike the high rollers there. The bf and I had complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne waiting for us in our room to help celebrate our anniversary. Such a generous surprise! They really go out of there way here to make their customers feel special and taken care of. We were on our way out to grab a taxi to dinner, but instead the staff and chauffeur offered us a ride in their Benz, even when his shift had just ended. The beautiful hotel room itself felt so comfortable and cozy with decor fitting of an actual home (I was eyeing the ceramic apple on the desk and vases in the bathroom)! I loved the mirror and valet stand near the door, and the roomy closet space. And the bed was amazingly comfortable and immaculately clean! We didn't take advantage of the hotel's amenities and highly raved restaurant and bar, but we did check out their modern gym which was lovely and had water bottles at each treadmill, as well as apples and towels. I don't know when/if I'll ever have the honor of staying at the Jefferson again, but if my wallet allows for a fancy luxurious weekend, this will be my first stop! read more

We were looking for a upscale hotel for our Washington d.c. vacation. It was out of the busiest part of Washington, which was nice and only had valet which is expected. Our room was nice although extremely small. I was also disappointed in their small fitness facility and no jacuzzi or pool. The service was outstanding and attentive. We also dined in their Quill restaurant which had a great feel although their cocktail drinks were not up to par especially at $25 each and food was mediocre. Overall at $500 a night a nice hotel but not the Ritz or Keswick but might return. read more

Room service is very good-but also pricey. Really nice benefit--the use of a free town car and driver if you are a guest. Oddly missing in-room coffee maker. There are coffee and muffins in the lobby. On fifth floor, wireless internet signal was poor. But they had wired option and had ethernet cable available. read more

Best hotel stay ever! Every touch at The Jefferson is elegant and hospitable, from the friendly and helpful staff to the beautiful decor. The service is impeccable - staff members went out of their way to offer recommendations and history about the hotel. One of my favorite features is the beautiful library that is open all day. They have a coffee bar set up in the morning and you can also get bar service. In the evening, they had a warm fire on. All of the books are available for reading or to take to your room. The room itself was lovely. Pretty comfortable bed and good amenities. I'm a big fan of the water carafes in the room and the TV in the bathroom vanity! They also have 2 peloton bikes in the fitness room (so fun to try!) and reciprocity at the University Club, which has a bigger gym. Overall, fabulous stay and can't wait to return! read more
