Prices are average. My husband and I occasionally visit this store to do our weekly grocery shopping. In the past, I liked the quality of the seafood, vegetables, fruits, and risotto. Most recently, we purchased just a couple of things that we needed, pancake mix and maple syrup. We used the self-checkout and had no problems with the machines. This Fresh Thyme is not our most frequently visited or favorite grocery store, but I do like it and recommend it for occasional shopping.

She gave us a tour of the entire place - that's how we found out the place was much more than meets the eye! We sampled several different wines, and purchased several! One of the wines sold there supports a rescue group with every sale. We bought some jams (birthday gifts), honey and hot sauces from the store. Traverse out back, there's the original barn that is a gift shop (3 stories), lots of unique items, a farm petting barn of animals rescued from slaughterhouses, a separate store for those with allergies that they can shop specific allergen friendly food. An ice cream stand, a hard cider ale house and some play areas for the children. We stopped in the arsenal ale house to have a drink and that was delicious too! We were hungry after and were looking for place to eat then we remembered there was a little lunch spot in the store so back in we went! Perfect tied over lunch, great sandwiches, pickles have got to be homemade. Drinks from cooler- super refreshing. Definitely will be back.

We arrived and found ample parking and went inside. There is so much inside: you can find donuts from Orum's on Saturday (we bought 6) and there is fresh bread, dinner rolls, jams, and other pastries available. Toward the back are farm fresh vegetables, milk, etc. They have an ice cream counter and things like honey, etc. nearby. We, also, stopped by Arrowhead winery inside to sample their wines: the lady behind the counter was super helpful and knowledgeable about their wines and the wine-making process. Overall, you will find yourself spending more time and money than you expected but you will, also, be planning your next visit. There is a lot to see outside and we did not get a chance to really investigate the outside as there was so much inside. We will be back: bringing a cooler next time to buy some wine so we can keep it fresh if it happens to be a warm day.

Some come from Volant, PA, Others in Millersburg, Ohio and Walnut Creek, Ohio, and still others come from Lancaster County. Upon entering to your right is a large freezer with grass fed meats from Jersey Farm in New Wilmington, PA. In addition to ground beef you will find steaks, London broil, ribs, and a variety of roasts. Directly ahead of you is a large refrigerator consisting of cheeses made from the milk of grass fed cows. 2 pounds of slabbed rolled butter, various yogurts and a choice of pasteurized or non homogenized milk which come from Hartzler dairy farm in Wooster, Ohio. The milk is sold in half gallon sizes. In addition the refrigerator had fully baked Amish pies both small, large and sugar free. On another shelf I saw a nice selection of Amish baked goods which included your familiar cookies and chocolate gobs which resemble a chocolate cake with filling in it. One of the items pointed out to me was the cinnamon buns from Walnut Creek. I had been to Walnut Creek years ago so I know their stuff is very good. In a back room they sell mostly dry goods. Some of these goods are available upon request but you can get Amish jams, noodles, buckwheat and regular pancake mixes. Some of the items are gluten free and noted as such. I got an opportunity to speak to the owner Traci Maga and learned that their grand opening with samples is scheduled for July 11th. Every Sat however, they do offer samples of their cheeses to try. I inquired about Amish bread but learned they don't stock it anymore since it is not in much demand. They do carry Cellone's bread which is just for convenience sake along with a few other things you can find at just about any grocery chain store. They are not allowed to cut the cheeses on site so you would have to do that at home. The food is pricey however, the trade-off comes in not having to waste gas and wear and tear on your car to drive out to these places and risk spoilage on the return trip. Speaking to Traci did encourage me to try the nonhomgenized milk since it has more nutrients in it. I did purchase a couple of frozen grass fed ready made burgers which I'll make this weekend,a bag of their honey almond cereal which is very much like granola, a small apple pie and a chocolate gob. I tasted both the cereal and a little of the chocolate gob and believe me they were so good as I remember them. I'm a big fan of Amish food and I find this store a welcome addition to the Pittsburgh area. It is an easy exit off Rt 30 W just as you get off the parkway headed towards the airport. Make a right and you are there. The lot is small but plan to return and try out some of their other offerings.
