I'm extremely upset with the piercing side of this shop. I asked a person there with help opening…read moreup my 8 gauge septum ring, and the first thing i noticed was the look of uncertainty. The second thing was the lack of correct equipment. He used thick rusty pliers (which is incredibly risky because this piercing is STILL HEALING!!) and scissors instead of ring opening pliers of flat nose pliers. My brand new, expensive jewlery broke in his hands without compensation. He stated "this is the risk that you take". However, no risk was stated and there was no debriefing done. I've had rings of a similar gauge opened just fine. I'm very disappointed because My jewelry broke before I could wear it out and it was a waste of money because I cannot wear it anymore. He stated to me that "i've never seen a septum piercing this large before" which i could understand, but to me it shows that he should've declined the job if he knew he didn't have experience in it. This is my second weird experience with my septum piercing at this shop. The first time was when the piercer tried telling me what gauge i was at (assumed 16) and debated with me about with me knowing it was a 12. Then proceeded to say 20 gauge is thicker and 16 is thinner, which is opposite. The people on the piercing side here do not know what they are doing.

It's basically a hand snapping with little stars and planets around it. The problem is that the hand wasn't done as neatly as I would've liked it to be. The stars were not either, they are VERY simple stars. What left a bad taste in my mouth was after the tattoo was done I'd also realized he left some little but major details out. When I left the shop I observed my tattoo more and more until I realized and had to go back to tell him what he forgot. He apologized and added what was missing. As I started to leave the shop I realized he forgot to bandage me again, so I reminded him. Apologized again. Apologies are great and all but if you are in the profession of putting PERMANENT tattoos on peoples bodies you should be taking this WAY more seriously! Just my opinion! I will not go back. Also, if you are staff and look at a customer come into your shop.. SAY HELLO.

When I arrived, I only waited about 10 mins. I was glad to have some time to look around since the walls are filled with artwork & installations. (The shop is gorgeous! - High ceilings, nice furnishing, wooden floors, 2 floors). Everyone i met was friendly. Cheeks is so nice! We played with the size of my tattoo design until we settled on what looked right and he went to work. When we were done, he explained after care, hooked me up with some ointment, and entertained my other design ideas. Great experience and I can't wait to return for more work.

I originally was in talks with another artist from another studio for my tattoo but it fell…read morethrough. I am one to trust that things happen for me not to me so I looked for another place. I found out about The Base from an online search for fine line tattoo artists in Brooklyn. What a vibe this place was. The energy felt calming, the chill out music playlist was fire, and all the staff I interacted with were kind, accommodating, and professional. The establishment was an open design concept so it didn't feel stuffy or crowded with furniture, equipment, etc. It was also super clean and I routinely saw staff cleaning and prepping equipment, wiping things down, and sanitizing areas and work stations. I came in for a more intricate tattoo than I thought lol but 6 hours later I was thrilled. My artist, Ozge Demir was phenomenal, she had great energy, and was very detail oriented which I appreciated. She captured the essence of what I wanted my tattoo to be. I could tell that she takes pride in her artistry and work and loves doing fine line tattooing. She did a fantastic job and I'm very pleased with the end result. He tells you about what to expect in the long run and what the primary logic is. For example I asked for a small but very detailed and colored tattoo and he told me how it would look in a year or two. Now I have a different one :) My first tattoo is on my inner right arm. It went super smooth and had taken 3 hours or so. My second one is on my spine and despite everyone saying it was gonna hurt, it did not. Baris puts his best in everything he does. The second one was a Japanese poem and he didn't just do line tattoo. No sir, he went above and beyond, made sure he integrated the Japanese calligraphic aesthetic into it. We left Kings Theatre excited to try a neighborhood spot and thought we found a great deal with the…read more$22 taco special (3 tacos, chips and salsa, and a margarita). Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a while. We were charged an extra $4.33 just for mixing taco meats, even though nowhere on the menu does it mention an upcharge for mix-and-match tacos. We asked the bartender about it, and he couldn't point to where it was listed. We also specifically asked if there was an extra charge for a flavored margarita and were told there wasn't. When the bill came, one of us was charged for the flavored margarita while the other wasn't, even though we both asked the same question. The charges were inconsistent and made no sense. A meal that was advertised as a $22 special per person ended up costing almost $60 because of charges that weren't disclosed. It's not about the few extra dollars--it's about transparency. If there are additional charges for mixing taco meats or flavored margaritas, they should be clearly listed on the menu and explained before customers order. We came in excited to support a neighborhood spot after a show, but we left feeling misled and nickel-and-dimed. Unfortunately, we won't be back.
