We left Kings Theatre excited to try a neighborhood spot and thought we found a great deal with the $22 taco special (3 tacos, chips and salsa, and a margarita). Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a while. We were charged an extra $4.33 just for mixing taco meats, even though nowhere on the menu does it mention an upcharge for mix-and-match tacos. We asked the bartender about it, and he couldn't point to where it was listed. We also specifically asked if there was an extra charge for a flavored margarita and were told there wasn't. When the bill came, one of us was charged for the flavored margarita while the other wasn't, even though we both asked the same question. The charges were inconsistent and made no sense. A meal that was advertised as a $22 special per person ended up costing almost $60 because of charges that weren't disclosed. It's not about the few extra dollars--it's about transparency. If there are additional charges for mixing taco meats or flavored margaritas, they should be clearly listed on the menu and explained before customers order. We came in excited to support a neighborhood spot after a show, but we left feeling misled and nickel-and-dimed. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

I randomly stumbled onto this bar as i walking to the Kings theater. I saw they had a happy hour for $8 margs and mojitos. So i stopped in with a friend to catch a drink after work. The margarita was amazing! One of the best I've had in a little while. The 3 stars comes from the service. Although they were okay after moving seats to the bar to get noticed, we had to move in order to get served. That didn't sit right with me. I, like anyone else, likes good customer service. Especially a small place. No greeting or anything. I only noticed this because they greeted others and served them immediately as they entered. So that kinda rubbed me the wrong way a bit. Had a decent time but won't necessarily be suggesting any friends/family to check it out. Went specifically for the tattoo class. Class was scheduled for 7pm on a Sat. Arrived early (like 6:25pm) and was told the class doesn't actually start until 7:30pm. There wasn't a specific delay. Apparently they do this for all classes to accommodate late comers. That was disappointing because the night was planned based on the class being 7-9. We opted to eat there. We picked our own seats and the tables are marked to order at the bar. Not a fan of that but went with the flow. Menu was simple. We ordered 1 order of tacos, 1 order of empanadas, and 2 drinks. Including 20% tip, everything waaas $75. Ultimately totally overpriced for the food aand overaall experience. 1 drink had something in it. Opted to let it be. The beef in the beef empanadas is mixed with potatoes so the texture is mushy. Ordered chicken tacos no avocados. They came out with no avocados and no pico de gallo. Bought it to the waiters attention and he took them back. He said the new ones would be out in 6 min. Wasn't sure why they had to redo the order. The tacos came back, but now the chicken wasn't chunks, it was shredded and had avocados...and still no pico de gallo. Waiters primary language was not English so maybe that was the disconnect. Called over another staff member and she said the tacos don't come with pico de gallo because they chicken is sautéed with it. Menu in no way indicates this. And there was no sign of any mixed with the chicken which you'd expect if they were sautéed together. Other than the confusion, the food was ok. They're located on Flatbush just down the block from the Kings Theatre. The ambiance is old neighborhood bar. Music could have been turned down a notch or two. They had the Knicks game playing (on I saw 4 TVs and a projector) so the Mr was entertained during the unexpected additional wait time. Then it came time for class. The tattoo salon is downstairs. It's not a huge space and they had 24 people in the class. They crammed 4 people to a table and it was standing only. The same female staffer from upstairs was the host. She gave some info on the shops history, introduced the owner, and gave instructions on what we'd be doing. Then you were basically left to your own devices to tattoo some stencils they provided. She had an assistant but he basically sat around unless someone asked him for something. I'm not sure where the host ended up. She never came by our table during the session. Even with starting "late" we still left early. We each tattooed 2 designs on our cantelope and weren't gonna just stand there until 9pm, so we left. Sharing 1 tattoo gun with your partner is 1 thing, but sharing the table was difficult - from the vibration to people moving around and knocking into the table. The host described the class as drink and ink and they provided everyone a complimentary drink. That was a welcome surprise. I believe it was some sort of mango and pineapple punch (alcoholic). Came here for happy hour with some friends a few months ago. The drinks are awesome! Delicious but also strong. The food was less than mediocre, and there really isn't a huge menu. I had the chips and guac. Guac was ok, plantains were ok. The portion wasn't worth the price either. But to be honest, I didn't go there to eat, and I don't usually have high hopes for the food in bars anyway. Soo, 4 stars are for the staff, atmosphere and drinks obvi. Although, we sat outside; when I did go inside to use the restroom, I enjoyed the easygoing mood. There's also Jenga, which imo is an ideal, simple enough to play drinking game. Avoid here before Kings Theater shows! They're pulling an ugly and dishonest bait and switch on Kings Theater concert-goers. They post on Instagram the day of the show that happy hour is through 7 pm, with prices ($5 margaritas, nice!). They have a chalkboard inside that says happy hour is through 7 pm, same prices as Instagram (nice again!). But when it's time to pay, that's when you'll learn the margaritas were actually $8 -- and when you ask, you'll then be told they have higher prices for events, despite the Instagram post of that exact same day, and despite the HH sign. I get why they'll do that as a business ($), but I think it's hugely dishonest. +1 star for friendly bartenders, but everything else was meh, including/especially the taste of the drinks. read more

Found this shop on Instagram and came in for a Friday the 13th special! They opened at 10am (which was for the event I believe) and there was a line by the time they opened. The actual line/sign in process was a bit of a mess, and it would have been better if they had a receptionist checking people in, instead the artists had to do it, which seemed a little unfair to them. I was third in line so I was in and out in under an hour. I imagine any other day of the year it's not like this as Friday the 13th is a notoriously crazy day at shops (however this a review of my personal experience) They had a TON of designs available on their flash sheets and a max limit of 3 tattoos per person. Their options were awesome, they had so many cool designs ranging from quarter size to 3" designs. The special was for arm and leg placement only. My artist, who's name I didn't catch, was very cool and worked quick! I had fun would go back! One last thing to note is they are quite far from any train, so it's kind of a hike to get there if you don't live in the area. read more

Rick and Rob have always been amazing from tongue piercings to microdermals. This is the first time I've had microdermals that didn't reject. I've also had a multitude of tattoos that were freehanded which shows true artistry. I have at least nine larger pieces and never had a complaint. Those who have complained about rejection and infections honestly most likely didn't follow proper aftercare instructions. Rick and Rob also are open to helping those who have concerns and have a multitude of soaks and cleansers to stave off any issues one may have. They are insanely funny, detailed, and make everyone comfortable. FYI- the bar was opened after the body modification section was up and running for a while as the bar caters to the area. I came here in mid February 2018 thinking that I was gonna get great results... I was extremely disappointed. After examining the work the next day I became furious. I left a thorough explanation in an email for Rob who convinced me at the time that he was capable of giving me the results I anticipated. Aside from having poor skill... his hand was heavy. He kept being distracted by everything else happening in the shop. I convinced him to do two sessions because my chest was swollen and I couldn't take the pain. Obviously... I never came back. Another gimmick bar with terrible service. Understaffed and overrated. $10 shot/beer special not bad but it took maybe 15mins for the bartender to get to my order. Only two people back there when the place was packed. I felt for them Bc it looksd like they were also bussing and barbacking.
