In short the work crew broke an exterior glass door pane to a sliding glass door. Accidents happen, poor communication and lack of follow up shouldn't. Home Genius blamed the sub and vice versa. Eventually the glass was replaced by the sub contractors father (yes seriously). After replacement it was foggy and dirty inside. After six calls to customer care we received a call back from Raleigh manager who of course blamed the sub and "would look into it". We got into contact via text only with our job lead as he has no voice mail. It was determined new glass would be placed back in upon our return from vacation out of state. To our surprise our home camera systems picks up somebody going into our backyard with a ladder and presumably working on the glass with no appointment, no permission and no contact with home genius. A text to the job lead to confirm was left unanswered. Likewise when the Raleigh office manager was asked for information regarding an appeal process, he asked if we would drop our 2 star google review first instead of simply meeting our request and providing info for am appeal. He still has not responded with info requested or followed up in any manner to see if our damaged property was replaced etc. The second glass replaced while we were not home but an unknown party is worse then the first replacement glass job and here we sit with zero assistance or communication from Home Genius. Customer Care reps have all been nice and courteous all 7 times we have called them. Just don't take the risk with other options available.

Not great. We had our roof and gutters replaced. The roof work seems solid (but what do we know?),…read morebut everything else leaves me frustrated after spending $25k. My main complaint, the sales person promised the crews would be clean and put tarps down to catch 100% of the debris, and we wouldn't even be able to tell they'd been here. Now we're four months past the install and we are still picking up bits of shingle, tar paper, plastic, and most egregiously, ROOFING NAILS in the yard nearly every SINGLE time we do yard work. In the first two weeks we picked up over a hundred nails from the yard and DRIVEWAY (come on, now!). We seriously found two more yesterday and two more today. It's NEVER ENDING. With the sales guy's suggestion we had them put in wide mouth gutter drains to help with the constant gutter clogging problems -- so what do they do? First they installed them wrong (oversized drains with standard drain holes does no good), so I printed out and handed the project manager installation instructions from the manufacturer. They came back out to redo it, but contrary to those instructions they used a ton of caulk, and also put caulk on every joint. Guess what gutter debris does when it hits a caulk. We also had them do some siding repair and had to be extremely specific about what we wanted them to do vs asking "replace anything that's rotting" which I would expect to be a reasonable request. I expected SO much more from a family company this old and established. Sadly, NOT recommended.

And, as a bonus, they are genuinely nice folks to work with. They correctly identified that my roof had been damaged by hail roughly 11 months ago, and the USAA adjuster readily agreed. Replacing the roof was accomplished in a manner I did not think possible in any line of business: they CONSISTENTLY did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, and in a manner that exceeded what I expected. After seeing how they work, how they stay in touch, how they show up, and how they are committed to doing things well and fairly, I can 100% recommend them. In fact, I wish I could award more stars because they deserved them. I particularly want to thank Drane, Ryan, and Bertin for their exceptional commitment to excellence and teamwork. Well done!!!

They were extremely responsive, showed up quickly, and were easy to communicate with throughout the process. The crew was professional, personable, and made me feel comfortable from the start. In my experience that's not always something you get with contractors. What really stood out was their willingness to go above and beyond to help resolve the situation. It's clear they care about their customers and take pride in their work. If you're looking for a reliable roofing and gutter company that you can trust to show up, communicate well, and do right by you, I'd absolutely recommend them. I'd work with them again without hesitation.

Generally I do not post reviews of my experiences unless they are so good or bad that that I feel…read morecompelled to do so. This is one of those occasions and unfortunately it was an extremely bad experience. We hired Positive Bearing Construction in the beginning of February 2022 to complete a re-surfacing of our existing deck and add a small expansion. We choose them after interviewing several contractors and we based our decision on previous customer reviews as well as the assurances from Jay ,the owner of Positive Bearing Construction, that they would deliver a truly outstanding product. They began the demolition on February 12th and at this point Jay said it would take them no more than 2-3 weeks to complete the job, which was important as we had an outdoor birthday party planned for our daughter in mid-March. Jay constantly assured us that the time frame was not an issue and our new "beautiful" deck would be complete well before then. This is where things started to go South. There was no progress on the deck until February 24th at which point the deck framing started to be replaced. There were multiple delays and excuses from Jay as to the delay including COVID exposure, an engine fire in his truck, the job trailer breaking down, a possible heart attack and a constant stream of employee attrition. Suffice to say, we were relived that the new decking (which we had purchased directly at Jay's direction) started to be installed on February 25th. This excitement was short lived as we soon discovered that the crew Jay had hired to install the deck boards did not know what they were doing which resulted in the screws holes being installed incorrectly and not even in straight lines or equal spacing. In the end, none of the boards that were installed could be used and had to be replaced to the tune of $2,500 (AZEK Composite Deck Boards). Jay stated that he would take care of the replacement of the boards and we should not be concerned about it. After this point, there was another two week period where no work was completed. This entire time the deck was being temporarily supported with 2x6 lumber, as Jay did not want to installed the post and footers first. When we reached out to Jay for updates, there was even more excuses why they could not continue work. Finally on March 4th, Jay and his crew came out to continue working on the project. They did not keep laying deck boards, as all of them had been destroyed and they had yet to order new boards. They did however dig the footer holes for the new post. After having an engineer come out to inspect the footer holes on Monday, March 7th, we received the all clear to pour the footers. Jay kept finding excuses not to pour the concrete, until they finally decided to pour on Thursday March 10th. They arrived, with more new employees, and started moving material around the yard. Jay must not have discussed the job site with these new employees, as they proceeded to throw ladders on top of landscaping that had been protected for the last several weeks, crushing the plants. When the employees were made aware of this, they got extremely aggravated and rude. After this interaction, Jay and his crew started packing up their tools and loading them in their trailer. When asked what was happening, he told us that they were walking off of the job. We were never given a reason for them leaving, but we can only assume that they did not want to pay to replace the decking material that their deck crew destroyed. We were left with a less than half-way constructed deck, which was still only temporarily supported. This was a bad position to be in with three young children needing to be kept away from a now abandoned construction site. In the end, we lost 6 weeks worth of waiting, a backyard construction site during our daughter's birthday party and a few thousand dollars of destroyed deck boards. I would recommend that everyone avoid using Positive Bearing Construction.
