Rex was referred to us from a friend for a bathroom remodel that we needed. And we've had a great experience working with Alex and Juan from Rex. Alex was very good at organizing all the information and materials we needed for the project. And Juan was very good at doing the hands on work. Both were very thorough and professional. A delight to work with.

IF YOU READ ONE REVIEW, READ THIS ONE: I recently hired Rex to do a small kitchen bump-out (less than 50 SF), and a number of related structural enhancements and upgrades to my house. I'm writing this review because I selected Rex based largely on their Yelp reviews, as well as the fact that their price was right about in the middle of 5 bids. The timeline of 30 days to complete the work was also consistent with the other bids, so I hired them for the work. Alex and Isaac are both very nice guys, but neither one appears to know how to run a business or a construction project. There appeared to be very serious cash flow issues, as well as a complete lack of effort or skill to properly manage or oversee the work. The 30 day timeline stretched into OVER FIVE MONTHS of excuses, failed inspections, re-work, re-work, and more re-work. I don't think any element of the work that Rex was done once and done right. Everything was touched by multiple hands multiple times. The best way I can describe the experience is that it was as if every day Rex was seeing the construction plans for the very first time. At the beginning of the project there was some staffing consistency (although not enough manpower), but toward the end of the project there was a real struggle to send the same guys consistently, or to send guys that were skilled at the tasks at hand, and perhaps most importantly, there was NO ONE guiding this work or acting as a proper foreman on a day-to-day basis. There were several frustrations but here's a few to paint the picture: Rex was contracted to install 2 skylights in the kitchen. The guy who installed them boasted to me that he watched a YouTube video the night before to learn how to do it. Needless to say the installation didn't go well; the rough openings for the skylights are too small to allow me to install proper finish trimwork and still operate the skylight. I also had to hire a roofer as Rex said that the roof work wasn't included, despite there being no mention of this in the contract. (um, okay) At this point I didn't want Rex touching another thing, especially something viewed from the street. I hired a roofer to the tune of $745. During shear wall installation, Rex mindlessly cut some supports to the stairs that run along the outside of my house. The stairs were literally starting to fall off the house as a result of their error. They never acknowledged this until I pointed out this being a safety issue and they "fixed" it by nailing rough lumber onto the sides and propping the stairs up with some pieces of rubble. (See photos) Rex maintained 2 very large piles of construction debris (one in the front of the house, one in the back) for the entirety of the project. The construction workers would throw everything in there, including their lunch waste. By the end of five months it was a wonderful ecosystem thriving with squirrels, rodents and those little lizzards. When Rex was finally done with their Scope of Work and removed the garbage, I pointed out to the worker that there was still a large piece of debris. A little while later everything looked like it had been removed, so I paid the guy the final payment. When I walked out there later it turned out that the worker just dragged the garbage into some bushes further down my hill. Seems like a very fitting end to a very frustrating long process. I could go on and on but will sum up with one word: avoid! The first posting of this review was taken down. The other reviews are phony, there's no way they're real. good luck.

Throughout the entire process, Mike was very professional and the level of expertise he exhibited was obvious. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM. Shoutout to Mario! They really respected our home and were very considerate of us during construction. Even after everything was finished, they guaranteed that they would come back and fix anything that needed fixing. Cannot recommend them enough if you want to improve or build your new home!

Shawn was easy to reach, responsive, and great to work with throughout the project. The crew showed up on time, kept things clean, and finished everything in under 5 weeks. Definitely recommend MDM Remodeling if you're doing a bathroom remodel in Los Angeles we'll be using them again.

The project ran about six months. The short version: we'd hire them again. The longer version: Jacob, the design lead, is the reason we went with them. He has a genuine passion for old buildings and pushed to preserve original details that another contractor would have torn out without a second thought. That instinct matters when you're working on something irreplaceable. Ken managed the project more quietly but kept things moving. And when issues came up after the job was done -- after the final check had been cashed -- Jacob, Ken, and the owner Sage came back and made it right. That's not nothing. That's actually rare. Were there setbacks? Yes. If you've hired contractors in LA, especially on older properties, you know what you're signing up for. New Dawn isn't immune to that reality. They're not the cheapest option and not the most expensive either. But they're the kind of crew that stands behind their work, and in this city, that's worth writing a review about.

The work was completed faster than I expected without being rushed, and it honestly blew me away how the crew managed it all like clockwork. All construction projects are journey, and this one definitely came to a happy ending.

Their pricing was comparable to others, but the ability to visit their in-progress projects gave me confidence. I'm very very particular, and while no remodel is perfect, Creative worked to bring my vision to life. My advice: plan everything in detail beforehand--or hire a designer. To save costs, I handled all the design myself while working full-time, which was highly stressful. Having everything mapped out helps avoid delays, last-minute changes, or compromising on your vision. Golan and Jordan were fantastic--Golan handled planning and communication, and Jordan ensured everything stayed on track. They always responded to my texts in a reasonable amount of time. Their tile crew was exceptional (I often bumped into them because they worked long hours and weekends to complete my home and were really nice and respectful people), and they tiled nearly my entire house beautifully (we're talking 2000 sq ft of flooring, 3 bathrooms, and a fireplace). I appreciated that Creative didn't nickel and dime me for small changes, and when a gas leak was discovered (due to careless cabinetry work), they fixed it--and more (we found more leaks during the repairs)--without extra charges. Despite delays beyond their control, they completed the full renovation in about six months--from pulling permits to final inspection. Major work included a new kitchen, three bathrooms, tile flooring throughout, interior paint, a new electrical panel, and whole-house LED recessed lighting. Even after the job was done, they returned to fix small issues without hesitation. That kind of follow-up is rare in a world full of disappearing contractors. I would recommend Creative for any remodeling project, big or small.

We were so happy with their work that we've already had them back to update our kitchen with new backsplash and tile work, as well as an outdoor bar. I can't recommend Bela Development highly enough.
