I think some of it may be occupied, I am not sure, so I did not venture far, just the front and back yard and stopped when I saw what looked like an apartment building. It is an LA Historical Landmark and just so cute. It is near Sony pictures. It almost looks like you are walking into a movie set. There is a great garden and a pond and it really does look like a Hobbit house. We were not there long, maybe 15 minutes and did not need to be. So, if you have 15 minutes and want to see a super cool house go take a peek.

The views are beautiful, especially in the spring and fall when everything is green and wildflowers are blooming. The road winds through the hills, so you get nonstop scenic views. Driving with the top down and the wind in your hair makes it even better ~ super relaxing and enjoyable. It's the kind of drive where you just take it slow and enjoy the ride. There are several lookout spots where you can pull over, catch an amazing sunset, and later see Hollywood and San Fernando Valley city lights at night. Plus, there are plenty of spots perfect for Instagram ~ worthy photos. Definitely worth the drive.

I first drove up there way back in the early 90s, and I remember being totally blown away by how big Los Angeles looked from up high. I have been back plenty of times since then, and that twisty drive along the top of the hills honestly never gets old. Even though the world down below has changed a lot, driving that road still feels exactly the same as it did on my first trip.

A popular place to grab a quick bite is at Carney's - a yellow Union Pacific rail car that serves hamburgers and hot dogs. The Sunset Strip portion of Sunset Boulevard has been known for its nightlife scene going back to the 1950's. Many songs and films have been made about this area. I have driven up and down the Sunset Strip on a number of occasions. The Viper Room, Whisky a Go Go and The Roxy are popular clubs that launched the careers of many bands over the years. The Comedy Store is a comedy club that has been around since the 70's. Back in the early days, I used to hang out at the old Tower Records store on Sunset Blvd. I used to go there to buy new CD's and vinyl for my music collection. Amoeba Records is another music store that I love to chill at.

It has changed a lot since then but still has most of its 20th century charm. I remember spotting TV actors very often when we'd be there in the 1960s. I looked in just about every store. There's lots of fresh (and exotic) produce. There's a French store, meat market, empanada store, souvenir store and even an old fashioned camera (with film) store. My favorites, as always, are the baked goods and candy. And I saw a $200 jar of honey! Literally something for everyone. There's a noodle place I'm gonna try next time for sure. I started out at DuPars for a short stack of their famous pancakes and life will never be the same! In LA, parking is hard to find and expensive! But here the first 90 minutes are free if you get validated. I love this market. And I cannot wait to return. When you're in Los Angeles, you should stop in.
