The food is absolutely awful! I got the Camerones à la diabla and it tasted like they used previously cooked shrimp and tossed it with a bottled sweet tomato sauce. I've had that dish at many places and it's spicy and fresh. This was a major disappointment. It was served with thick toast and frozen veggies which were still cold in the center, I'm guessed they fried them by the appearance. My daughter ordered a burrito which was filled with beef instead of beans which it did not say on the menu and that was strange too. The service was okay, they acted kind of annoyed to have customers. The restaurant was mostly empty aside from the bar. Miserable experience. Food was appalling. Worst Texmex I've ever had. We were a party of 6 and no one enjoyed their entree. Most of our party's food came out cold. Mediocre Americanized Mexican food at best!! Barely sat down and waiter was already asking if I was ready to order. Hadn't even looked through the whole menu and he'd come around 3 other times. Ordered a #12 Special of one Burrito, one Tamale, and one Enchilada. The Burrito and the Enchilada had the exact same tasteless ground meat substitute only one had a corn tortilla and the other a flour tortilla. Also it looks more like TVP (Texturized Vegetable Protein)also known as soybean and it had no taste! The tamale was obviously store bought and more typical of a Miss. delta region "Hot Tamale" than an authentic Mexican Tamale. It was all covers in a red sauce that looked exactly like the salsa served with the chips. Food did come out VERY fast and after it came out the waiter never came around again until I was practically done with my meal. For those of you who said this is good Mexican food and/or gave this place more than one star, have a REALLY low bar set for good Mexican food. Almost wish I'd gone to Taco Bell!!!! And I happen to know what is good Mexican food being of Mexican decent myself and having traveled and worked in Mexico. read more

Just an average to above average Mexican restaurant. The steak is pretty good. I believe it is owned by the same owners as el sombrero, so understandably, the quality and service is near identical. There is no evidence this restaurant is understaffed; however, the service has declined to a point where they are even adding things to our ticket and refusing to adjust off when brought to their attention. Last night they added a fee for shrimp they claimed was added to my dish. I had half of my meal in a box to carry home (evidence) and our waiter's response was simply "the kitchen said they added it." Oh, by the way I didn't ORDER it! They left the fee on and it became the only tip I left. That was the last straw. Plenty of other Mexican restaurants in the area. They need to go. read more

My friend and I went for a late lunch the other day. I've heard good things about this place from coworkers. Nice quiet place. It wasn't too busy so we were seated very quickly. Our waiter, Octavio, was very prompt seeing what we needed to drink. The chips and salsa came out before our drinks made it to the table. After we decided what to order we beckoned Octavio over and placed our order. It wasn't 5-10 minutes after placing our order when our food arrived. The food was delicious. My wife and I ate here while traveling after we saw the listing on Yelp. We both enjoyed the food very much. The service was average. There was one time while we were waiting to order that our waiter was walking toward our table and then stopped and stood in place watching soccer on the TV. It wasn't like they were busy. We were one of 2-3 parties in the place at that time. We did get what we needed in a relatively timely manner. I just wish he exhibited more care for serving us. He seemed like he'd rather we not be there instead of being thankful we were paying his wages. By the way, the salsa was very tasty. Service, poor, waiter was not interested in serving us. Food, Poor, the chilies rellenos had small piece of bell pepper with ground beef and cheese. Not your typical rellenos,and not very tasty. The pulled beef in the tacos was acrid and the hard tortilla shell softened immediately. and tasted like Del Taco shells. When we complained about the most egregious of the missteps,they stated that is the way they make the rellenos. Similar to a pancake made primarily with tuna fish. read more

I think the chips and salsa are important at Mexican restaurants. The chips aren't amazing, but the salsa is pretty yummy. They make the dishes a little differently than I'm used to. Excellent restaurant. Food is always made to order. They do not mind customizing orders. To go orders are always hot. Restaurant is clean and the cost is inexpensive. They have a bar and serve alcoholic drinks. Parking is plentiful and they have handicapped parking as well. Staff is always friendly. They have a kids menu and also offer vegetarian options. Worst service I have ever received! My food was fine because I had fajitas. However some in my party ordered nachos and quesadillas. The cheese was completely soured. They were unable to eat their meal. When we told the waiter be barely spoke English so the communication was limited. He took the plates and never offered to replace or anything. When the bill came my sister told them she was not going to pay for the food they did not eat. The manager was so rude and flat out mocked her and made a huge deal about it. This is the worst Mexican meal I have ever eaten. The guacamole had no texture. The cheese dip was passable until you got the kick of jalapeño, so that tanked it. My quesadilla was a soggy mess, the meat didn't taste good, and there were more onions than meat there anyway. My husband got some ribeye...I had to spit out the bite he gave me. It was a good thing too! He ended up with stomach cramps and other g.i. issues. I'm not going to go so far as to say food poisoning, but he was on the hair edge for sure. The wait staff was so so at best. The place was about deserted on a Friday night, but it still took 10 minutes for someone to seat us. Why this place had any positive reviews I have no idea. Please do not waste your money!! We called in our for quick pick up. We got the salsa special ( their version of the happy plate) and the portion was so small and they put it a large tin foil. The food didnt even cover bottom of the containter. It did not have any flavor and look and tasted like the bell pepper and onion wasn't cooked! The rice was soggy. $8 dollar went in the trash. Consistently the best Mexican in town. This is a family-run establishment, and everyone always makes you feel that you're welcome and appreciated.
