Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of working out, but as I've gotten older, put on some extra weight (thanks COVID) and now have a job working from home, I just don't get up and move around as much as I used to. I realized that my muscles are a lot weaker than they used to be, and I simply wasn't getting up and walking around enough anymore. So now I attend classes twice a week and I am always glad I went after the class is over. Every class is very individualized to what I need. I may be working on the same muscle groups as the person next to me, but the exercise is specialized to me in a way that fits my needs. Not everyone is in the same shape or has the same physical fitness needs, and APF customizes your workout to fit your individual needs. They always take into account any injuries I may have, and give me alternate exercises until I'm healed. Additionally the trainers are always so positive and encouraging! They show you the correct form and way to do each exercise, and encourage questions if you want help or clarification. They don't push me to do more than I am safely able to. It's not huge but bigger than most in the area. It's also regularly cleaned, which says something about the owner and/or management. It has all the equipment I use and need, to include a stairclimber, which is only in about 50% of other AFs in the NE SA area. That said, its free of excessive equipment straps, boxes, and clutter that frequently collect dust and fill up every corner in others AFs. As a traveller for work, I visit many others AFs across the country and this location is consistent with the size, quality equipment and facilities I expect. No complaints and much praise.

B) They collect "Gym Improvement Fees" and yet have made zero improvements since I've been here. There is probably still a hole in the matt below the squat rack to this date. C) They intentionally make it IMPOSSIBLE to leave your membership. I provided proof that I had moved more than 50 miles away from a gym. They made me turn in a copy of a lease. Yet, they STILL wanted to charge me for the next month, PLUS cancellation fee. An extra $80 to leave a gym I don't even have access to. Not to mention, their sly "bi-weekly" language charged me 3 times in December. Gyms like this one are the reason FTC laws had to be put in place for fair and easy options to leave gyms. Please protect your mental sanity and avoid this gym!

I heard about Crossfit & asked my husband to try it out with me for just a month. He thought I was nuts! He said it was to hard & only for fit, sporty type people. I wanted to be that fit, sporty type person. So, I called & signed us up for a few WODs. I walked in the box & was immediately intimidated. That is, until I was greeted by Coach Jerry and a few of the other 7:30AMers. I received 1-1 instruction and my questions were answered. I was able to witness new folks & veterans alike. They were all doing Crossfit, just at different levels. I was introduced to scaling & for awhile that became my best friend. My safety was a #1 priority & I was coached & cheered by the best. My fears evaporated within a week as I came to know the athletes at the box. I could walk in and instantly feel nervous & excited about the work out of the day. I found myself checking the website every night & morning to see what we would be doing next. That was almost 2 years ago. I've never stuck with something this long. I'm still just as enthusiastic as I was that first week. Is Crossfit hard? Yes. Do you have to be in shape before you come try a workout? No. But believe me, if you can believe in yourself like you deserve. You won't turn back! I give you 1 month before you start drinking the kool-aid, you won't be able to help it!
