It was not a particularly busy day for the farmers market but we had a nice time strolling along and seeing the variety of produce, handmade pasta, baked goods, and other items for sale! We stopped by one booth for a sample which had packaged Indian curries that can be easily boiled as a meal for one. At $10 we found them rather steep, but quite tasty! There was also a dumpling booth that seemed quite popular. This is a nice farmers market perfect for a relaxed stroll on a Saturday! Very family-friendly and a nice mix of local Houston finds.

There's tons of free parking just around the corner in the large onsite parking garage. The market itself is well attended by farmers, bakers, butchers, artisans, plant enthusiasts, and the community. I've been to this market several times now and am constantly impressed with the wide variety of options. Some local favorites include the fresh farmer's produce, sourdough bread vendors, fresh flower vendors, vegan options (shout out to Prophecy Foods with amazing vegan cheeses), and the ready to eat bites like Dumpling Haus. All of the vendors take credit cards which is convenient in case you forgot to bring cash. There's often live music and a few small tables to sit and sample your bounty and just enjoy the fresh air. While you are not going to find the cheapest bargain here, it feels good to help support small businesses, take part in a community activity, and score some healthy foods for you and your family. Definitely worth a visit!

This place is their specialty store for Mexican stuff. I was amazed by this store when I came in. Mariachi music and gritos blare over the speakers. There's not an inch of boring in this store- papel picado paper flags fly over the aisles, and flags of the various states of Mexico are flown over the registers. Each area of the store is like a mercado in Mexico- where there's the seafood vendor selling their wares, trying to get your attention. Their tortilla factory in the store cranks out the tortillas, and they have the largest selection of tortilla varieties I've ever seen. I got green tortillas! (yes, they're supposed to look that way!) Checking out the butcher shop, it goes on and on and on. They have a huge selection of meats, along with the weirder parts that you don't typically see in the store- pig heads, tongues, tripe, intestines. I was surprised to see that their coffee selection was pretty limited, considering that they have dozens of varieties of chorizo. I was amazed to see the section selling religious items, like statues of The Virgin Mary or Jesus on a cross, or shiny CDs to hang in your rear view mirror that have an image of St John. Prices are fair here. I've never seen such a selection of Mexican specialty items than this store. It's a pretty amazing assault on all the senses coming in here.

My mouth began watering. "That looks reeaaaallly good" I said to myself as I stood in the short line. The guy in front of me turns around and says " they ARE..this place is the best". I am ready to marry one of the counter ladies. Two nice sized tacos, wrapped carefully by the helpful counter ladies. When I pay at the cashier, it comes to a whopping $3.95 and my jaw drops again. Take my first bite in the truck...this place has no sit down, it's all take out. Oh god..getitgetitgetit... the flavors all come together in a wonderful taco..the meat is well cooked but not overdone, the onions tender and mild a hint of the beans. The line at this kiosk was long and we quickly found out why that was the case. The fruit here was incredibly fresh and the staff here filled our bowls with a ton of fruit. The cost for our fruit was fairly inexpensive and we enjoyed our midday snack before stuffing our faces at one of the tacquerias on the grounds.

I lived in Ecuador down in South America for some time years ago doing some volunteer work over there. I also travel to Mex every chance I get..... before the covid times. So I do very much have a fondness for establishments that remind me of places I've visited in other countries. I don't have some kind of specific product or anything like that to highlight. I just overall liked the experience of being at Mi Tienda. Has a great vibe to it in my opinion. I'll be back at some point to hang around here and see what interesting food finds I can pick up. I just remembered they did have and awesome deal on T-bone steak. $3 a pound. Picked up a few pounds of that. That I do remember. I really enjoyed being at this grocery store.
