I have been a patient at this practice for a few years now and I love my normal doctor but she wasn't available- so I saw Dr. Rainey and it as a horrible experience. I paid my $40 deductible to spend exactly 6 minutes with her. She looked at one of my concerns very briefly and prescribed something I am already taking and was she surprised when I said I was already taking it. Like...shouldn't she know the meds that I'm on? I expressed my frustration with my condition and asked about an alternative treatment and she laughed and said "good luck". I'm shocked at her behavior and unprofessionalism. What a waste of my time and money. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. I'd like my money back so I can see a doctor who would be willing to actually try and help me. read more

Previously we were very happy. Started accutane treatment for my son and we had nothing but problems. No communication about expectations for appointments and med refills- my son ended up going without meds for a while. No ability to get existing patients in for an appointment (after their miscommunication). Called provider x2 with significant concerns about labs, I had no response. After two days I had to call our pediatrician for help. Receptionist has no common sense, thinks an MA is a sub for communication from an MD. Tells us no appointments but then PA tells us his schedule is wide open. In short, the miscommunication is atrocious, the lack of ability to reach a provider is concerning, and no one seems to care when concerns are brought up. No one is on the same page. We moved to another practice mid treatment I know they have plenty of patients.....so a teen boy for acne isn't high on their list. But because of this experience, my husband and I will also not return as we were existing patients. read more

I would advise anyone considering becoming a patient of this practice to consider going elsewhere. This practice is very shady and unethical. If you do decide to become a patient whatever you do, do not set up a payment plan. Call them every month and make the payments. But do not give them your payment information to keep on file! They take additional funds without your consent from your account including the amount you set up for your payment plan. Additional money that is more than what was agreed upon monthly. The staff are rude and unprofessional. Dr. Rainey has been aware of the behavior of her staff for years and never takes any action to correct it. She gives canned responses to patients who mention the unprofessional behavior conducted by her staff. She will lie to you and say that she will train her staff and speak to them. It says a lot about her character. They will then tell you that it is because you owe the money. Their billing department made several unauthorized charges to my HSA without consent or my knowledge. I had only discovered this by checking my account balance on my HSA. I had only authorized to have a certain amount to be taken out for a monthly payment plan. The unauthorized charges (which there was three) nearly exhausted the funds in my HSA account. RFSA would have completely exhausted my account but, there was not enough remaining for them to charge the remaining balance to. I called for an explanation, and was told by a woman who did not provide her name that she would transfer me to speak to someone in billing. I was then placed on hold for over 14 minutes, and she never came back to the line. I immediately called the office back and spoke to Elizabeth who was rude and unprofessional. She raised her voice during the 13-minute conversation. She tried to justify the unauthorized amounts that the office took and refused to provide a refund for the unauthorized amounts. Here's the conversation verbatim where she tried to justify the unauthorized payments: Elizabeth: Oh, so it looks that here that you have a payment plan. So, you agreed to take out $XX.XX every 5th of the month. Me: Okay... Right. But that was more than that. E: I guess since the person that was in charge of it, she's no longer with us, so they took it to another co-worker of mine. So, they did go ahead and have to get caught up on the payments. So, I do see here that they did go ahead and took out $XX.XX (the unauthorized charges). ***Except, they were taking the monthly agreement from my account on time every month, without any interruptions. There was nothing for them to "get caught up on" as I never missed a payment.*** Me: That should not have happened. E: Ma'am, you have a monthly payment plan. Me: No, no, no, no, no...that monthly payment plan was for $XX.XX, nothing else. E: $XX.XX to take out every 5th of the month. Me: Correct. So, do you mind telling me why that there are multiple charges that I am looking at? For more than the [monthly obligation] amount? E: The reason why there's more than $XX.XX charged to you owing... and the office staff... Me: I do not care if you changed your office staff... E: I understand that, and I do apologize but that's what happened. You were on a payment plan each month. Me: I don't care if that's what happened. You (the office) didn't hold up your end of the agreement. So, if you can't fix it, I want to speak to somebody else. E: If I can't fix... to refund the amount? Me: Correct. E: Okay, but that's what you owe, ma'am. Me: I don't care if that's what I owe, you were supposed to take--(Elizabeth cuts me off mid-sentence) E: Well, would you rather for us to take you to collections? Me: You were supposed to take $XX.XX (the monthly obligation amount). That was the agreement. Nothing else. When I asked for a manager, she said that they were unavailable before placing me on hold and never returning to the line. I was finally able to speak to Brisa, one of the managers at the practice. She claimed that she would send me a copy of the payment agreement at my request, and issue a refund as well. Neither were fulfilled. read more

I've been going to Dr. Rainey for about 5 months to take care of acne on my face. The staff is very polite, and I'm always seen within 15 minutes of my appointment time. Dr. Rainey tried a couple of different treatments before she prescribed me to take isotretinoin (accutane) which I'm thankful for that she was willing to try some alternatives before sticking me on a harsh medicine. Last year I saw Dr.Finklea about a suspicious bump on my leg. A biopsy confirmed that it was squamos cell carcinoma. She recommended radiation therapy but did not discuss any other form of treatment with me. I was not told of the possible negative side effects. The radiation caused an ugly wound to form and I developed a staph infection. I began to experience excruciating pain. She prescribed an antibiotic and pain medication. The technician who gave me the radiation treatments told me to keep the wound covered unless I was at home. During a follow up appointment, he repeated that in front of Dr. Finklea who corrected him and said I should have kept it covered at all times. At that point I decided not to continue with Rainey Dermatology and began to see a wound doctor weekly, a pain doctor, and a highly recommended dermatologist. I have learned that the excruciating pain I am experiencing is the result of nerve damage caused by the radiation. It has been over three months since the radiation therapy and my wound has still not healed. Although the pain has lessened, there are times that it is severe and I have had many sleepless nights as a result. The emotional stress, the pain, and the ongoing treatment of the wound has definitely lessened the quality of life that I once new. Do not under any circumstances agree to radiation therapy. I wish I had just had surgery and been done with it. read more

Post-op bleeding has been a nasty problem of mine in recent skin cancer removals by other dermatologists (including Mose trained), twice ending in late-night hospital ER visits. But with SRT treatment of the cancers rather than surgical removal, there are no incisions and therefore no bleeding. Each brief treatment was managed by Josh, a college-trained technician in this specialty. And as the treatments proceeded, PA Felipe Galvan was checking against development of new cancers with regular inspections and appropriate treatment. And, of course, Dr. Finklea was counselling about this and/or any other concerns. I found this group to be a friendly, highly-skilled and effective team working together in comfortable quarters using the latest in technology to control skin cancer issues. SRT in well-trained hands is, for me, the obvious treatment of choice for non-melanoma skin cancers. read more

Dr. Rainey just gave me the best injections EVER yesterday at Augusta University in the dermatology clinic. She used a cannula to inject Silk into my tear troughs. The results are stunning. Tear trough injections typically leave me with a black eye that lasts 2-3 weeks. NO black eyes this time! It looks completely natural and not "done". She filled my cheeks with Voluma. Again, a completely natural looking result with no chipmunk cheeks. It was my first foray into lip injections and-again-she nailed it! Perfectly done, natural results that restored my previous lip volume. No duck lips or bee stings. I had a prior bad experience with botox and was resigned to never get it again. After speaking to Dr. Rainey about this, I agreed to give it a second chance. I am so pleased that I did. The result was amazing and natural appearing. There was no frozen face or dropped/sinister brow. Her injection technique was completely different than the one used by the plastic surgeon that did the initial injection. It erased my angry 11s, crow's feet and bunny lines but left me with movement. I've repeated botox with Dr. Rainey twice since then. I leave her office ecstatic each time. Dr. Rainey is a stellar dermatologist and an injection artist. She is beautiful inside and out. I am crushed that she is leaving Augusta and would consider flying to San Antonio to continue cosmetic treatments until the sun burns out rather than find another local dermatologist. The care from Dr Finklea is great. I even referred my parents and she takes great care of them as well. However, the billing person who I've been trying to get answers from and issues resolved with for months now "Olga" has not been helpful. I even asked to speak to upper management, she informed there was no one else to speak to, but her. Asked if I could get an appointment with doctor to discuss their billing issues, and answer was NO. I am still trying to get answers and have been given the run around over and over again! I am beyond frustrated and feel greatly disappointed how great care from doctors seem over shadowed by less than great customer service from front staff. read more

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. I have had chemical peels done in the past. 40% glycolic acid, PCA Sensipeel, Obagi Blue, etc. So this was not my first time with this service. I was treated by a very kind and personable esthetician. I purchased a package of 3 chemical peels. After the first chemical peel I had 4 chemical burns on my face that left scarring. I had never had any bad reaction to any chemical peels before. Nonetheless I went to the second and opted for a weaker chemical peel. The second peel left my face looking as if I had scraped my face against cement. Undoubtedly there will be even more scarring. I just wanted to have a nice glow and now I am very saddened by all the scars that will be left on my skin. I was given Clonoderm immediately and retin-a micro after my second peel because she knew it most likely was going to leave some marks. I just regret going here and will opt out of the third peel completely. I just don't even want to think about any further damage that could be done. I really enjoyed the esthetician's bedside manner however my face will be scarred for probably the next 6 months because of this. read more
