I am a physician and athlete. Several years ago I was diagnosed with multiple herniated discs and…read moresevere nerve compression in my lower back. I was in constant pain and unable to do simple day-to-day activities. I looked into treatment options only to learn that surgery had limited success and was really no better the medical therapy (chronic pain medication and epidural injections). I was devastated. I knew Kate Pietrowski from her excellent work as a registered nurse, and we decided to try a course of acupuncture. The results have been spectacular- beyond all my expectations. During the course of several weeks I had gradual improvement in my symptoms and was able to slowly reintroduce physical activity. After several months of tapering acupuncture, I stopped treatment and remained pain-free and active for nearly two years. My symptoms returned a few months ago, and were so severe I thought I would certainly need surgery, but based on my prior experience I went back to Kate and am once again pain-free following about 3 months of tapering treatments. This time, I plan to continue maintenance therapy. My experience has been incredible- my ability to do the things I love without chronic medication or the risks and limited benefits of surgery and other procedures has been restored. Kate is the consummate caregiver; the environment at Acupuncture for health is professional and peaceful, maximizing my sense of confidence and the benefit of treatment. Her broad knowledge and blend of traditional and 'alternative' treatment provide the best opportunity for assessing and addressing a variety of problems. I recommend Kate and Acupuncture for Health without reservations. If you are considering treatment, an added benefit is that some insurance companies now recognize and reimburse this therapy. Good luck and good health to those considering this option.

A little awkward to get to because it is on the part of DeKalb that's one way; but once you get…read moreinside, it's almost like you're in an old house (which is weird, because it looks more like an nonresidential building from the outside). I had appointment for 12:45 PM and I was one of the only people in there, but I was not called back to begin paperwork until 1 PM. Once I got to the bloodwork area, I shared the room with another person (separated by a high partition, so we couldn't see each other). I thought it was odd that the room was divided this way, but all of my anxiety melted away when the nurse came in. I told her right away that giving blood for any reason makes me extremely nervous and she got right down to work-- I hardly felt a pinch, even when she switched vials, and there was absolutely no bruising (!!!) the next day. A++ for the effort there. The decor needs some updating and it would have been nice if I had been taken care of in a more timely fashion, but the nurse was exceeding kind, so that's where the fourth star comes from.

I had been here multiple times and the staff is always professional, friendly and quick. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to be called back. Due to it's somewhat hidden location it was never crowded as I have experienced with other Quest locations.

My husband had SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) that was causing IBS, and went to this…read moredoctor for help. She did the test and confirmed it was SIBO. Instead of giving him the antibiotics that treat this condition, this doctor strung him along at $250 out of pocket per visit for NINE MONTHS. She said that he needed to get all of his nutrient levels, his B12 and other levels, perfect before she would give him the 2-month course of antibiotics. So he suffered for 9 more months. At the end, she told him "next visit, I'll start you on the antibiotics." Then when that visit came, and after he had already bought the antibiotics, she said "I changed my mind. We need to wait longer." He had had enough. He pushed her to just let him start the antibiotics. She said "if you are going to do your own research and not trust me, then I can't be your doctor anymore." My husband left with the impression that this woman just wanted to keep sucking him dry for money. He ended up stuck with tons of vitamins and supplements that she told him to buy and then told him to stop taking. He suffered for another year before going to a new doctor at Drexel who gave him the test, confirmed the infection, and immediately gave him a 1-month round of antibiotics. He got better.

I would strongly caution against this doctor. She started off being really nice but as visits…read moreprogressed, she began to prescribe expensive treatments and also once told me I was lucky, other doctors siphon off more. She was quite menacing when she said that. I stopped immediately. After a few visits I also realized she is inexperienced, aside from being ill tempered. Would stay away.

I will be actively looking for another practice. I have been with this office for about 20 years…read moreand for some reason, I cant even get an appointment. I was sent half way across the earth to thier other office in Lansdale. I live five minutes from them. I can remember a time when i did not feel well and I was seen the day I called. I am not one to complain about a wait because I totally understand they are squeezing me in but at this point they cant squeeze anything. I am sure my absence will not make a dent in thier practice. Obviously, they have plenty of patients now so I will now atively look elsewhere.

I like the fact that there are multiple doctors available, and that it was within walking distance…read moreof my old house. I have been through 3 different doctors in the ~ 6 years I have been there which does not bother me, but may bother others. Small issues started a couple of years ago when visits started taking more than an hour. Bigger issues now. Called several times and was on hold for more than an hour before being disconnected. Now I am on a drug which is on back-order. The pharmacy faxed them 3 times and has not received a response. Also they wanted me to wait 2 weeks for an appointment and would not renew my blood pressure medication until I saw them. After an hour of arguing, they gave me an appointment the next day, and told me how lucky I was that they were "accommodating me". After seeing the reviews here, I realize at least I am not alone.
