Cozy neighborhood wine bar in Fort Greene with a great natural wine selection! Their cocktails looked fab too, but stuck with the wine for my first time. Tried a funky orange (chenin blanc) and a dry red (mencia) and both were good. I love a funky wine, so the orange was my favorite between the two. Also got the olives which were fresh and delish. You order at the bar and grab a seat wherever, which can be a bit chaotic but there's a good amount of seating. This wine bar is a vibe. I hate to use that word, but it felt really peaceful. The interior had amazing light, brick walls and wooden chairs. You order/pay at the bar and take a number for the food orders to be delivered to you. No frills, no fuss and great wine options. I ordered the crab dip as it seemed like the most fulfilling thing on the menu and one of the few nonalcoholic options- toast (which tastes like a juice). No one came to check up on us, but that was fine because you don't feel rushed. Would definitely recommend for an easy daytime visit and the Sunday I went streets were closed so everyone was walking their dogs and had good people watching opportunities outside. read more

4 Stars for a great wine bar in Brooklyn that is bright, has shared plates of food, cocktails, and some GREAT bottles of wine available. We arrived on a sunny day and enjoyed the brightly lit interior. One thing to note is you go up to the bar to order and grab your goods to take to your table. It was very slow on the day/time we were there, so this wasn't an issue at all, but I could see it taking a while if it's busy inside or at the bar. We ordered some marinated olives and a bottle of wine to share. From where you're sitting, the small kitchen is open so you can see the guy getting the food prepped. It feels really intimate and like a true neighborhood place. I dug the vibe and the olives were perfect with our bottle. Beyond that, I really appreciated the shelf of staff wine picks since you don't have a table-service server who can help you choose. It was a smart addition that helps someone like me (who needs a good rec). I also really liked the candle they had in the bathroom, which was a woody scent. Someone else in my group said it was super overpowering in the tiny bathroom, but I thought it was great. Definitely a place I'd visit again when in the area looking for a great bottle of wine! read more

Not sure why this place has the bad reviews that it does. My friends and I had a lovely time at Rhodora. I don't mind ordering at the counter; it eliminates pressure from waitstaff to order more and allows you to take your time to enjoy company and conversation. Counter staff was friendly and answered our questions. Wine and small plates were delicious. Ambiance is cozy. The place does get loud when busy, but most wine bars do. Maybe the experience is different during pop-ups, but our experience this evening was great. We will definitely return! read more

For a wine bar, their selection is decent. Not many options but not a lack of options either. Both the glasses I got were high quality. We went on a night they were doing a pop up chef so it was very busy and they didn't have their regular menu which is what we wanted. Their website says they don't take reservations but on pop up nights they do but only through Instagram. Wish this information was easier to find. I shouldn't have to check a restaurants Instagram to see what menu/reservation status they have for the night. read more

Although I'm a huge fan of their Jade Margarita, I keep coming back to this place because of the service and community here. When the weather's nice, I can easily grab a seat outside and be immersed in all of the conversations around me. Sometimes it's old friends that are hoping to catch up over Rhodora's shrimp cocktails. Sometimes it's Pratt students visiting because there's a new pop-up menu that night. and sometimes it's people like me who walked by and just wanted to get a good drink that never disappoints. They usually have a small selection of snack-type food bites (unless they are doing a pop-up menu) so I would not come here starving but you definitely can get something to nibble on when you do stop by. read more

I love how local businesses have found ways to adapt to Corona times, and Rhodora Wine Bar is a great example of that. Since the pandemic, they've turned themselves into a wine shop, with a pretty rad selection of bottles. They also have a smallish selection of pantry items like Kewpie and Maldon's Sea Salt (everyone should have these at home already, but if you don't.... find them here!). I'm having a pet nat summer (naturally carbonated wine), and Rhodora is carrying one of my favorites - UIVO pt nat. Snag a bottle if there are any left! read more

Unsustainable level of snobbery from staff and patrons alike. A transplant troll doing his (pretty unfilled) crossword puzzle stopped us from sitting at the empty table behind him. "Somebody asked me to hold this for them," the bespectacled, bearded troll says, "...but there are tables over THERE" (*Points to shadier, mustier and less desirable empty section of the establishment*) what a bizarre place, filled with bizarre and tasteless people. Glanced at menu and saw the same old sardine joke that June sells. Booked it for traif 1.5 miles away, and never looked back. Everyone and their grandma sells natural wine now. I've been wanting to come here for some time (even my mother had seen some article about their no waste policy and encouraged me to come). While the wine was solid and the food pretty good, the service here left a bad taste in my mouth. I am rarely one to care too much about the service experience, but the lack of welcoming staff and rudeness towards questions asked was off-putting, especially with the plethora of wine bars popping up in the area. Easily the most overpriced spot in the neighborhood. I understand and appreciate the "zero-waste" mission but charging those prices for canned fish is practically an injustice. Our reservation was for Saturday night. The place was packed and very noisy (tables close together, low ceiling, no baffling.) There was a large crowd of drinkers near the front, so no one saw me until I flagged down a waitress. We started off with pitted green olives, unseasoned ($6). The waitress explained that the only hot food is the lasagna, the soup, and the grilled cheese, and they didn't have the grilled cheese. She said that they don't "force out" anything and everything arrives when it arrives, tapas style. For my "entree" I had the smoked trout on rye ($15.) It was one piece of toast with some canned fish and creme fraiche. Not an entree at all, served on a tapas plate. When I saw how small it was I ordered the cream of asparagus soup ($13, very tasty.) My boyfriend got the lasagna, which he said was OK (it was also served as a tapas, not an entree.) We also got the lemon sardines ($17.) They literally opened a can of sardines, sprinkled some parsley on the top, and put it on the table with two small tines. It didn't taste any better than the $4 canned sardines from the Key Food. To accompany this, we ordered some good, crusty sourdough bread ($4.) With the food I had two glasses of a very nice albarino. My boyfriend liked his rose. So no complaints about the wine. Total tab: $142. I left dissatisfied and feeling like I filled up on bread. We noticed that the table next to us, which seemed to be drinking a lot and having a good time, kept ordering dish after dish. Apparently they were having trouble getting enough to eat. Verdict: If you want a lively, noisy place to socialize, go for the good wine. Skip the food. read more

But I have to knock points off because you order everything and then they hand you the wine bottle , bucket and all the glasses to awkwardly carry back to your table - but they swing around that iPad for the tip with all food and drink combined. I don't want to tip for wine I carry and pour myself. Maybe this is my issue for not just calculating what I think is an appropriate tip for the experience ... be stronger than I am! Went here the other night with a gf. And it takes a lot for me to go to BK, but it had really great reviews. I also saw a pic of oysters in one and it seems to have a good mission. Well. I've gone here twice and I'm very disappointed. I ordered a Negroni and the woman behind the counter didn't make me an actual cocktail, she poured me a pre-made Negroni from a large pitcher, like a draft beer. Really? It takes that long to make a fresh one? She also used a pre-made orange rind, she didn't use a fresh one. Wow. My friend got an appetizer and it was $13 for a small bowl of about twenty marinated beans, and $7 for about 7 pieces of pickled radishes. Another time i was here I remember being shocked to pay $15 for ONE piece of toast and cheese. You guys need to get a grip. Brooklyn is expensive, but not cheap. read more

We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday dinner with a group of friends and had high expectations, but it turned out to be a terrible experience. We have been here before for drinks and love going to June in Brooklyn (run by the same owner), so we were particularly disappointed. The wine selection is great, but the service was very poor. -First, our server gave us only one menu for our entire table of five people. When we asked her for more menus, she rudely dropped one off at the table and walked away. -We put in a food order shortly after we arrived at 7pm and ordered a bunch of different things such as cheeses, olives, bread and more. It took over 30 minutes to get our first food items, which were just the olives and bread. A drink that we had ordered still had not come out either until our server remembered 30 minutes later. -We followed up on the other items with our server and she said the kitchen was running behind but they would come out when ready. At that point we put in more items in given the long wait. -Another 30 minutes passed and most of our items had not come out, particularly the cheeses. We flagged down the server and asked about the missing items, and she said she would check. A second server came by after and again asked us if we were missing anything, as if we had not ordered the items, and then said the items would come out soon. -More items slowly come out, but by 9:15pm we still did not receive any of the cheeses. We decide it's not worth waiting any longer given we had plans after dinner, so we tell the second server to cancel the cheeses and provide the check. -The main server came by and rudely remarked that we did not tell her we were in a rush, as if it were our fault for not notifying her, that somehow that fact could have made the items come out sooner, and that it's reasonable for a dinner that was mainly cold snacks to take more than 2 hours to be served. -In addition to the lack of any explanation, acknowledgment or apologies for the delays, when we received the check, we noticed they charged us for the cheeses. We explained that we never received the items and she seemed surprised and questioned if that was the case. We reiterated that we had asked multiple times and finally had said to cancel the items since we had to leave. The server removed the items, did not apologize and as we paid the check, the server angrily looked at us and refused to make eye contact or acknowledge us and then walked away. read more

Wow It feels special and holy in here (weird but true). I can't express how excited I am rhodora exists - the vibes and light are ideal - ie it's not too loud and feels intimate but open enough .
