At the same time, a friend of ours was buying a home and after we "secured" our rate with Dwayne, we found out that there were LOWER rates which could have saved us THOUSANDS because our friends got a significantly lower rate at almost the same time (within a week). Augusta Financial clearly did not have our best interests at heart. They came recommend by the real estate agent of my husband's family and we trusted him, so lesson learned to not trust the family realtor and do our own research. My husband did not want to start the process over elsewhere with the amount of time we had already spent and as we had found a home we wanted to purchase at a more or less affordable price. Also, they did not tell us our loan would be IMMEDIATELY sold to another company. We already had set up automatic payments and got notification in the mail 2 weeks after we moved into our new home that the loan was sold. Dwayne also could not spell in almost any email we received from him, which personally irritated me. Grammarly is free. Attention to detail was not strong and everything he required was always urgent, but when we needed an answer to something he was nowhere to be found until it was convent for him. I also had to explain things several times to several different people at Augusta Financial like they do not communicate with one another there... Overall, I would say we had a rough first mortgage loan experience and do not recommend Augusta Financial. Take your chances with them as they do not look for the best rate for you, and they do not give you all the information upfront unless you know what to ask for; as first time home buyers, we did not know what to ask and there is A LOT of information out there and so much to understand that it can be very overwhelming for first time homebuyers.

We recently refinanced our Valencia condo through Pacific Funding. We did close the loan…read moresuccessfully in the end, but I will definitely not use these guys again, or recommend them to others. Their rates are good, but you can find as good (or maybe better) elsewhere. I did not have Jennifer (the officer mentioned in the other review), but worked mostly with Jason Renno. Still, I had the same experience of unresponsiveness and an overall lack of communication. Having been through the mortgage process before, I felt like I was the one having to remind them of things. Sure, it mostly worked out in the end, but I was not treated with much of what I would call "customer service." Had this been my first mortgage, it would have been a nightmare. Some specific complaints: Loan closed over 2 weeks late, even though we always submitted all requested docs within 24 hours. This caused a major headache with travel plans we'd made, etc. Even though I made a specific request not to finance the closing costs (multiple times: in person, by email, by phone) when we showed up to sign the loan docs they were financed. Not worth the hassle to redo everything. Actually they put so much in the loan that I ended up with about $400 cash to borrower. I didn't need any cash, but now I'm paying interest on that extra $400 for no good reason. They failed on some regulatory compliance issue during the process, later having to send me a check for about $100. Compliance issues--really??? They provided no instructions, bill, envelope, or account statement for making the first payment after the closing (had to pay them one post-closing payment before the loan was sold). There's probably more I'm forgetting, but you get the idea.
