An unexpected gem! This shop is small but they've made the most of every inch of space. They have a much wider selection than I expected. They also don't have a Gatlinburg markup, and prices are similar to my local shops. Staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Will be a stop on future Gatlinburg vacations. read more

Awesome store with a really good selection. I came in looking for overpriced, common vinyls. To my surprise I found EXTREMELY rare records such as Astroworld, Graduation, The life of Pablo, and Blond. Sticker selection is really cool but are all somewhat metalhead / classic rock themed with no store representation. I'd like a sticker that says "Rhythm Section" but it's alright. HUGE selection of shirts and movies, I didn't really look through them but they had a ton of shirts in every size. The shopkeep was really nice and upbeat. Had a great energy about him and had respectable prices. He even took the time out of his day to help me look for a few LP's. Finally, the store is pretty cramped, I know that this can't be changed, but I'd just like to make it known. If you come in here with a backpack, you're gonna be holding it. read more

I always make a point to stop by the Rhythm Section when visiting Gatlinburg. It's a pretty sweet music/movie store located in the mall in the center of downtown. The selection here is pretty good. There always seems to be something that I find here that I'd been looking for for some time. A great variety of cds, vinyl, dvds, bluray, posters, clothing, and music and movie related knickknacks. I've had some pretty interesting finds here. The staff here is always very helpful and seem extremely knowledgeable in their product. They won't hesitate to answer any questions you have a show you what they have to offer in whatever it is you're looking for. Good people. The place is pretty cramped. It's not too big a storefront and they really jam as much stuff as they can in there. If someone else is looking around the section you are looking, it's really hard to stay out of each others way. The only thing about this place that gets to me is how overly expensive some of the prices are. I get why they probably need to do this, being an indie music store trying to stay afloat in todays terrible retail world, but I truly think that if some of the prices were more reasonable they would move more product and still make a profit. Regardless I always try to find something I can purchase there to support them, and after searching long enough I can usually find something somewhat reasonably priced. But that's really my only complaint about this place. Otherwise it is absolutely awesome here and I would recommend it to any music/movie-head out there. read more

This place is AWESOME. It's nestled conveniently on the ground level of the Mountain Mall. The entire wood paneled mall is like stepping into the past. The Rhythm Section is no exception, it's like stepping back in time when local record stores ruled in your hometown. It's definitely a tight squeeze, but that also means they have a huge selection. They carry all genre's here. But what I care about is their rock, punk, and metal selection. In addition to a nice record selection they also carry DVDs, lots of band stickers, t-shirts, and even an old school poster display that you can flip through. They will also special order, if there is something they don't have. Support record stores like this, because they are becoming increasingly harder and harder to find. Five stars. read more

Best Feature: Great selection!! Very nice staff as well. Worst Feature: Rather small, a bit hard to move around in. We stopped here recently during our vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. My boyfriend is a collector of great vinyls and has, in my opinion, great musical taste. We were shopping around and checking out the area when we passed by the windows of this shop. Intrigued, we headed in. They have a ton of merchandise for a rather small store! Their vinyl selection is quite excellent; I wasn't sure what to expect but they had a lot of neat music! It's a bit disorganized here and there, but it has a real feel of a grungy little music store and they have a ton of product - from vinyls to CDs to DVDs to promotional items, they cover all possible music genres and we didn't leave disappointed! My boyfriend picked up two great records and we were really happy with the purchases. The staff was very nice as well! There was a man in his 20s who asked us periodically if we needed any assistance and the manager, a nice woman in her 40s who made sure every step of our transaction was satisfactory. She knew her stuff and I was glad she helped us! If you're a music fan and you are looking for a good music selection, I'd definitely stop in here! Pretty cool place. Went here a few times during our family vacation this week. Place is small but the cd selection of Music is incredible. Prices are on the higher side but music, movies and concerts are what they specialize in and they don't disappoint in that. According to multiple former employees vast amounts of their merch is bootlegged. They have a giant bin of buttons (bands, tv shows, comics) none of which the artists see any money for. Not to mention a lot of their t-shirts & cd's are bootlegged as well. They've been reported for it in the past. I feel like the while point of shopping at a small record store is because you know you're supporting the artists. In this case you are not. Been here three times and have always found something worth buying. With that said, some of the CDs are quite overpriced, but some of the death metal and black metal CDs are rare and warrant the high price. Despite the high prices on CDs, the Records, DVDs, and all of the memorabilia are about average on price. Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this place, especially if you are into any kind of music that is somewhat obscure. read more

Found some really nice LPs, but the absolute worst markup I've seen. I'm talking about 100-300% retail, not wholesale, value. Besides the album selection, there wasn't much else redeemable for the store. The other merchandise was just typical junk you'd find at a head shop. This store is pretty neat. I found it by chance in the mall. It was a gem for sure. There is a record section in the back, but it is a little small. Good selections though. There is a pretty vast selection of Cd's and DVD's. They have apparel and stickers also. All and all, a nice store. I stop by every time i'm in the area. read more
