Fantastic staff, fantastic goods, and fantastic prices. The charm almost matches the same depth and welcoming atmosphere as the staff. They are kind and patient and the variety of antiques is astonishing. Really, there is something for everyone. A personal favorite of mine were the Edwardian hand tooled leather purses and one in particualr became my favorite antique store find, so I had to buy it. The price rested on the higher side of what I was willing to spend, but the quality craftsmanship, the delicate display, and the experience of shopping within that 8000 sqare ft. store made it worth the buy. Everything else I had found was (for the most part) reasonably priced, though some higher prices are to be expected in an antique store. I popped into Rich Man Poor Man antiques mall in Cambria last week to take a look around and check out their antiques. I had only been to this new location once, about five years ago when they were starting up, and remembered it filled with lots of dining tables and chairs. It has evolved into a high quality market with a diverse selection of beautifully displayed antiques filling every nook and cranny of this expansive store. I checked all the rooms, watching my step as I explored, and was delighted to find so many high quality antiques for sale. Fiesta ware in novel sizes and shapes, blue and white china from Wedgewood to flow blue, and Bakelite jewelry were some of the items available. All are on offer at pretty close to market value, with none of the expenses of shipping these valuable goods. I wandered out back to a small enclosure for garden goods, and into a little shed full of more recent offerings. I really enjoyed this little trip through history and had fun chatting with the very charming gentleman proprietor on my way out the door. I'll be sure to return and explore the shop on Main Street, which is also part of the antiques mall. read more

Stopped by this store when in town just to browse what was in the area. There were some cool finds, but the front store did seem a little dirty and messy compared to the store that's in the back of the parking lot. I didn't even know they were the same/affiliated. The workers in the front said hello on our way out, but there wasn't more interaction. The worker on the back was absolutely amazing! He was so friendly and welcoming. It definitely made our experience more enjoyable. He talked to us about Disney finds and Hawaiian shirts! We didn't buy anything as several of the prices seemed a little steep. The idea of antique stores was definitely cute though and different, especially coming from SoCal. If we're ever in the area again, we'd love to stop by to check it out again, but we'd only go into the back store! read more

Nope, never again. I walked into Rich Man Poor Man after having had a lovely lunch next door at Creekside Gardens. My husband, James, with whom I share this Yelp account with, went to walk our dog and asked me to meet him at the antique shop. Upon entering the space, I was pleasantly surprised to see the vast variety of antiques and looked forward to exploring the shop. I was then taken aback after seeing the owners look at me and say absolutely NOTHING. I even attempted to break the ice with a smile, again, NOTHING. The middle-aged woman with short styled hair looked directly at me and sat in silence. Am I aware of our differences? Yes, but I do not tolerate blatant prejudice. Following this encounter, my husband had arrived and was immediately greeted with a loud welcome, which added insult to injury, and I was beyond angry at this point. It may be an obvious detail that my spouse is Caucasian, though it saddens me to have to include this. Shortly after, I began to witness several others (all Caucasian) being welcomed with enthusiasm and offered with assistance, which totally blew my mind! Regardless of their many positive reviews, I say nay and will never return to Rich Man Poor Man. I will gladly relay this message to family and friends who plan to make their pilgrimages to Cambria. I will tell them of other antique spots to visit, places where they will be greeted with a friendly welcome and smile. read more

OK so I am giving this place 5 stars because of a few reason, but first and foremost I have to say that one of their staff (an older gentleman) was beyond nice and made my day. OK now to the store, well I hope you have some time because there is so much to see that you will get lost and spend the entire day in here looking around. The variety that they have is amazing and everyone in your group will find something that will have them saying hey look at that and wow what's that. The real reason why I'm leaving a review is because the owners and associates of this antique went above and beyond for me. I was in town from Anaheim and shopped at a few stores before finding this antique store. I placed my bag on the floor to look at rings and went straight to the counter to pay leaving my other bags behind. I didn't realize this till I got home, I was pretty upset so I called and they were very nice and accommodating. I spent a fun hour in this shop after eating breakfast next door. Staff is super welcoming and the store is the perfect level of antique chaos - organized but also cluttered (in a good way). I found a cool valet tray for my wallet and keys for under $15. I also found some interesting comics from early 1980s that I want to frame because I love the covers so much. Don't miss the opportunity to go upstairs. A lot of gems are up there, especially the Halloween decorations and figurines. read more

What a fun and interesting, large antique store. It goes, and goes, and goes, room after room. Surely you will find something you must have, secretly admire, or simply can identify as a "Hey look! Grannie had one of those. I wonder what it costs?" kind of moments. Most of this stuff is authentically old. I rarely write reviews that are not 5 star, but I'm making an exception. This store has amazing merchandise. Just know that, when you see it, buy it. I thought it would be a fun surprise for my husband to call the store and have them ship to me some things that he had seen, but hesitated to buy. I called, and the lady who answered the phone was very nice and helpful. They would arrange to have the local UPS Store pick up the items, call me with an estimated price to ship, and they would pack and ship it. Sounded so great. Now, I know that UPS Stores over-inflate the prices they charge, so I expected that my shipping would be $100 or so, even though I ship UPS every day and know it would only cost about $30. Cut to the chase--I received the items, without ever receiving a quoted shipping price. And the shipping? $255!!! I know. I'm an idiot. But, just so you know, no one at the antique store cared. After loosing my diamond earring on Moonstone Beach, and by some huge miracle my husband finding it, we stopped by here to see if they had earring backs. Not only did they have ones that fit perfect, they were nice enough to GIVE them to me! The gentleman at the counter was more worried whether I had a mask on or not than his shop being ADA approved. He first jumped on me for not having my mask on (which I just forgot) it was in my pocket. He was RUDE. Then as I struggled to get through the aisle with my walker, (which was not wide enough) He just stared at me. He didn't ask if I needed help. He didn't ask if he could move anything. I had to ditch my walker midway through the 2000 sq ft store and hobble through. After his nasty greeting and not it being easy to get through the store with my walker. I won't go back. My family and I decided to come here to just browse around the area and we came across this store and decided to go in. They had a bunch of things like jewelry, books, furniture, and just about everything. Since my sister had been talking about decorating her place, she was thinking of getting some signs from their Man Cave section. They had a few deals too like a sign would cost $15 but if you buy 2, you pay $25. I thought it was a pretty good deal. There's quite a few people working here and all of them that came up to us was nice and friendly. They knew quite a bit about the items they were selling. Walking into this store made me realize that the key to a good antique shopping experience is curation. The more selective the antique shop is in their wears and the more thoughtful in their presentation, the more likely the customer is to find something and purchase it. This place is huge and to their credit, they have a lot of stuff. If you are a bargain hunter or the patient type willing to sift through room after room of antiques, you'll love this place. But if something doesn't jump out at you, you'll be more likely to pass over it and become overwhelmed by the claustrophobic feeling of being surrounded in every direction by antiques. To their credit there is a sister store in the front of the parking lot that is much more selective and thoughtful in its presentation. I found that a much more pleasurable experience. read more
