I was told I could pay half now and half later. I paid the half. We came back in to have it partially removed. He was healing fine, but the dentist recommended he get his wisdom teeth removed. (this isn't our regular dentist) I told them now wasn't the best time as we just wanted to focus on his jaw healing and didn't want to cause any more pain that he'll have to endure. He was supposed to have the remaining part surgically removed from his mouth within 2 weeks. They pushed it out a month because of the Masters. We came back to finally have it removed and again they're pushing the molars and added it on. I had them remove it again. They call me up to the counter and they're charging me triple what I expected to pay. They said this was the second separate treatment plan to remove that certain part. So they gave me the first one, DID NOT inform me that we'll be needing to do another for the removal. Which doesn't make sense whatsoever. Why would they separate it and not notify of an additional amount due?? They said that a certain piece in his mouth they put in him was not covered by insurance and that they didn't know it was going to be needed so it wasn't initially quoted. But what?!? Just put it on his body without notifying me or telling me that it wouldn't be covered. Is there an alternative to this product? Was I even given the option to research this? No. They had notes of them calling me, but when they said they would contact me, they said it was in regard to the molars. Which I had already said no to. Then they said they mailed a refund for the first amount paid, which I never received. I asked them to pull the cleared check and am still waiting on that. The staff was friendly and so was the dentist. But Their form of communicating or fully informing their patients is awful. Pushing things that aren't relevant, not providing important information upfront. It's clear, patients are not their priority. Since I wasn't given the option for the product that was not approved and my son had to have it removed regardless. I paid the amount. I had to complain, but they did give me a discount. This situation was an emergency so a lot of things were rushed on choosing a surgical dentist. I'll be sure to be more cautious next time.

She requested the line of credit, receive the line of credit and paid Aspen Dental the full amount for their services. She arrives for her appointment today and was told that they could not provide her with service because she has a balance of $485. She called me and shares this information and I asked to speak to the person in charge. The lady precedes to explain to me how my mother's charges for the services are $2,360, Care Credit had approved her for $2,400 and that my mother had paid the amount in full. At this point I'm confused, because the bill clearly has been satisfied, however, you will not provide her with the services that she has paid you for. The lady said that she would have to call me back. Before hanging up, I asked her if I could pay half today and half later so that my mother could go ahead and have the work done that she has ALREADY paid for in full. I was told no. I was told that she could not receive services until the past due, THAT SHE WAS NOT EVEN AWARE OF, was paid. A few minutes later, she had someone from the finance department call me. The person from Finance explained that my mother had work done in April that the insurance company did not pay, so the $485 was to cover that service. Now it's starting to make sense, however, what a terrible business practice. First off, if the insurance company had denied a claim, my mother should have been informed IMMEDIATELY. Why would you allow her to pay for a new service, show up for an appointment and then place her in a predicament to where she can only be serviced if she pays a pass bill that SHE DID NOT EVEN KNOW EXISTED? The person from Finance apologized and stated that they would not have refused my mother service and that they would have allowed her to set up a payment plan. Really?? This is news to me, because I just asked your coworker if my mother could receive the services THAT SHE PAID FOR IN FULL and if I could pay half on the $485 and pay the balance later and I was told NO. That was deceitful and in my humble opinion, VERY unethical. You placed the person, A SENIOR CITIZEN, that needed your services in a situation that, had she not had children, she would have been refused. My mother is on a fixed income and under no circumstances does she just walk around with a extra $485. You all should examine your business practices and do better because what you did today was again, UNETHICAL and DECEITFUL. You should have explain to her before she arrived that she had a balance, so that she could make arrangements to pay you. You also lied to my face and told me that I could not pay half today and half later. AND you lied to my face, AGAIN, when you told me that my mother could not receive services until the past due was paid in full. The bill is paid, however, I feel that it was my responsibility to share this information with the public. I would hate for some unsuspecting victim to arrive at your location and be in the same situation that my mother was in. What happens to the person who comes in and doesn't have family, doesn't have a savings account, doesn't have children or siblings that they can call or who just doesn't have?? Shame on you.

I spent more time with the finance clerk. The day of my surgery, he was late returning from lunch. I was extremely nervous as I waited because I have never been put to sleep for a procedure before...my heart rate was through the roof. The nurse somewhat calmed my nerves by explaining the things she was doing to prep for the procedure. However, when he came in, he greeted me with a generic "hey" and immediately went to the side counter in the room and began talking to the nurse. After a few seconds, she came up to me and administered something (I know now it was anesthesia) in the IV without warning me and then returned to talk to him at the counter. I was later (40min) waken up by a different person with a bloody gauze hanging out my mouth and still disoriented. I never saw Dr. Scott or the nurse again. I was asked to walk down a hall to my waiting ride. I stumbled several times with little support and no wheelchair. I was given a sticky note size paper with very vague instructions. I had several questions that I just chose to google myself. The lack of care, support and empathy was overwhelming... I cried on my 35 min ride home. I felt like I was just an item to scratch off his to-do list for that day. My actual dentist is the complete opposite, and I wish he would have referred my surgery with someone else.
