I went to Richard's for about 20 years and even though I've moved across the country, I still stop by for a trim when I am in the area. When I started going there, Richard Sr. would cut my hair. Eventually, he stepped back and his son, also Richard (Rick), took over. That's the kind of customers that Richard's makes: lifelong, committed ones. Okay. So I've gone to this place twice and had bad experiences. The first time I go guy looks like he doesn't want to be there or doesn't want me to be there. Does not take his time. Although I was not impressed I was content with the haircut. Figured it'd due especially After hearing his racist remarks about a man walking past and making me feel uncomfortable I decided I'd just pay and leave. I go weeks later for another haircut because the first haircut messed up the look I was hoping for. He didn't remember me and starting talking about how bad my haircut was. Comparing the work that was done to a half painted house. Little did he know HE was the one that did a horrible job after all. I could see he was embarrassed. He took his time and gave me another okay haircut. Not impressed I payed left and Never went back. Not a good time. Not a good haircut. Not fun people. They need to lighten up and work harder at being great. read more

I stopped by Richard's while visiting NY, I desperately needed a haircut, and took a look at yelp to pick a place. I could not be more pleased with the haircut and the experience. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by Rick and called back to a chair. Rick personally cut my hair and did a fantastic job. Turns out he is the 4th generation owner of the shop. Rick and his staff are a throwback when it comes to customer service making you feel right at home the first time you walk in his shop. Yes, I drive from two towns away past four other barbers to get to Richard's. They are that good. I am a very happy regular customer. I prefer Sal or Rick (the owner) and like most customer who have their favorite barber, I will glady sit and wait until it's my turn. Now a ritual for my son and I to get haircuts together, I actually look forward to that time. We both sit and play checkers while we wait, or I will have some complimentary coffee while junior plays with a "hidden" toy stash under a sitting bench. I hate to sound dramatic, but there is quite a bit of trust given to the barber with your appearance - and Richard's barbers earned it. I have been going to them for many years upon a recommendation from a military friend, and have not gotten a haircut anywhere else since. Friendly, courteous, and professional. A real service-oriented barber that's unfortunately uncommon these days. I am no longer surprised that Rick and his team know every customer who walks through the door by name. They all either have amazing memories or actually have great relationships with many repeat customers. I am one of the later. You will be very happy with these guys. read more
