The blocks occupied feel like its own little community in the middle of the bigger city. It definitely has it's own vibe and is uniquely East Nashville. When we are in East, we normally make it point to stop in a shop or two. International Coffee, Galena Garlic and Adobe Mercantile are usually spots we frequent when wandering around, and Gift Horse is a cool place for a quirky or local gift for folks. Food wise, Maru and East Creamery are always on point and hit the spot! Hours of each shop differ, so make sure you look specifically at the hours of the places you want to visit. There is no real consistency amongst the shops from an overall hours perspective, which can be a tad frustrating. Parking is a bit wonky as well, nothing really dedicated at all times. There are a few pay lots nearby and street parking is plentiful in the area. Overall, Shoppes on Fatherland is a cool East community and is a good spot to spend a little time when you have nothing going on. It's always an after or before dinner/drink place for us.

Retail stores, restaurants, hair and nail salon and phone repairs. A lot of parking spaces for the extra busy days, though we haven't seen those since 2019, unfortunately. The one thing I strongly dislike is the main road through the property is littered with potholes. Not little ones, big potholes. You may need to kick your truck or jeep into 4 wheel drive to get through. The last time I drove on a road so treacherous was when I was offroading through the high deserts of California. :) I hope one day they can fix the road.

Rivergate Mall, a barely functioning relic of the past…read more What once was the heartbeat of the Rivergate area in Goodlettsville is now a reminder of what once was, but sadly is no more. The mall has certainly seen better days and at this point is just waiting for the impending closure and redevelopment that is due anytime now. In current state, the mall only has 20 active retail stores and two eateries. Majority of the stores are locally owned and branded, however there are still a few nationally recognized stores such as JC Penney, Dillard's, Foot Locker, CITI Trends, Guitar Center and Finish Line. The mall is in rough shape and is honestly a sad place to be at this point. No refresh is coming, but they do keep it fairly clean, even the restrooms were tidy and well stocked. My recent visits, and most over the years, have been to Dillard's or JC Penney. I pop into the shoe stores on occasion, but my trips here are usually very purposeful. Overall, Rivergate mall can still come in clutch when needed. It will be a sad day when it finally says goodbye, but it has done its thing well for the area for close to 60 years now.

From what I read, The Arcade was a popular shopping destination back in the day, and was one of the first (if not *the* first) shopping center to open in the city. Walking through now, however, I didn't see much - a lot of the stores are closed, and I saw several offices or businesses that wouldn't attract a crowd. The one point of interest that stood out to me was the Walgreens which had a vintage neon sign. Did I come at the wrong time? Are there other things here that I'm not aware of? From what I saw, no. I did, however, see construction in several of the storefronts, so hopefully there is more to come. For now, though, I would skip this.

Anyway, there's free parking buuuut I guess you have to jump through a few hoops to get it (there's literally nothing else around so why not just allow people to park and come in?) A good amount of stuff going on in here: you can find clothing (more on the conservativ/athleisure wear side of the spectrum), gifts, snacks, a salon, cycling classes, coffee, a Mediterranean food stand, an Italian restaurant and more. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface! While I didn't try any of the food options besides the gourmet popcorn place (which is surprisingly affordable for gourmet popcorn!) I loved the drinks I had at both Eat Bubbles (boba, matcha etc) and the irresistible Pont Neuf wine bar (both of which I'll review separately). And perhaps best of all: they have great seating areas throughout in which you can set up shop for working remotely, drinking your drinks, eating your snacks... so have at it!

There is also a gas station here with competitive priced gasoline. All in all, it serves the small community of Joelton, Tennessee well. Joelton is just outside of Nashville, Tennessee, bit you get a completely different vibe. It is definitely a small-town vibe, as opposed to the big city feel of Nashville. This small shopping plaza serves this small community well.
