Most (if not all?) of the businesses housed within are local. The boutiques have great products, and I am a huge bubble tea fan so Fat Straw is a great treat for me (just remember it's cash only!). The tall building, as Declan mentioned, is a renovated industrial space. They kept just enough of the rough edges while redecorating to keep it interesting and unique. If you interested in passing time some afternoon, Edgehill Village is definitely a good place to do it.

Located just off of Vietnam Veterans Parkway, The Streets of Indian Lake features local and chain shopping and restaurants, along with a movie theater, a gym and great outdoor event and entertainment space. Parking is plentiful with spots directly in front of all businesses, plus lots surrounding the perimeter of the plaza. We usually pop in to grab a movie, and on occasion grab some ice cream or possibly dinner. Never a shortage of options for whatever you are after. The space and majority of the outlets are well kept and clean. My only gripe is the exit back out to Indian Lake Boulevard. The intersection before the light always backs up and the turning lane is small and singular, creating a constant backlog of cars that forces most to sit through the light multiple times. Overall, we enjoy The Streets of Indian Lake!

Hillsboro Plaza is no exception. This diverse strip mall includes Ten Thousand Villages nonprofit international gift shop, Wolf Camera, Ginza Japanese restaurant, Uptown Smoke Shop, New Way Cleaners, Levy's clothing store, BA Framer, Great Harvest bakery, Chinatown restaurant, and the Donut Den. I've never eaten at the restaurants here, but I highly recommend Ten Thousand Villages and the Donut Den, which is open until midnight every night! Depending on the time of day, you may have to wait in line to turn out of Hillsboro Plaza onto Hillsboro Pike, but the wait probably won't be as bad as it looks. The parking lot is oddly designed and small relative to the size of the shopping center, but if you just use caution there, you'll be fine. It's located near Hillsboro High School, so it gets busy around here when school is letting out.

It has three restaurants, two of them fast food at the tanning salon. I guess a smoke shop is also attached to the shopping plaza. Despite the few stores, it has a huge parking lot. Parking will never be an issue here. I really would not recommend to come here to do some window-shopping, however if you are looking to come to one of the businesses, it is rather safe and well-maintained.

True story: when I was planning…read moreon moving back to Nashville after [redacted[ years away, pulling in to the Hill Center shopping area made me want to move back to Green Hills -- despite the traffic pitfalls of the neighborhood.* Everything was so new, nice and pretty. Even though this was a new construction, it made sense for Green Hills and fit so perfectly. And even though the majority of the residents were chains (I'm guessing you need big money to afford this kind of rent), the stores were all appropriately suited for the area and all fit in to the complex. I'm not much of a shopper, but the Hill Center has sucked me in to buy furniture, food, clothes, gifts, and groceries. I'm surprised by how often I find myself here -- especially given that I don't live that close to the complex. I'm telling you: that's the power of pretty. After spending some time in Brentwood and marveling at the Hill complex there, I'm convinced that the Hill folks have the aspirational-yet-accessible aesthetic down to a science. *Some of the worst, most distracted drivers in the 615.

It's quite aesthetic with bright lighting and wide, airy spaces. There's plenty of seating to enjoy food or the vibes. I got some boba and swung by Five Daughter's Bakery AKA the bakery with the 100-layered donut / cronut which takes three days to make. If I was hungrier I would have tried out of the restaurants. One point of confusion is the parking. It's technically free, but you have to register inside to get a voucher after scanning a QR code posted outside. The marketplace is not a particularly busy area unlike downtown, so I'm not sure why the marketplace has to make it so complex. I'm not sure there are many people parking and walking off...

Anyway, there's free parking buuuut I guess you have to jump through a few hoops to get it (there's literally nothing else around so why not just allow people to park and come in?) A good amount of stuff going on in here: you can find clothing (more on the conservativ/athleisure wear side of the spectrum), gifts, snacks, a salon, cycling classes, coffee, a Mediterranean food stand, an Italian restaurant and more. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface! While I didn't try any of the food options besides the gourmet popcorn place (which is surprisingly affordable for gourmet popcorn!) I loved the drinks I had at both Eat Bubbles (boba, matcha etc) and the irresistible Pont Neuf wine bar (both of which I'll review separately). And perhaps best of all: they have great seating areas throughout in which you can set up shop for working remotely, drinking your drinks, eating your snacks... so have at it!
