Agnes was active in social work and their church. In 1932 City Commissioners named Brinson Park in the couples honor. Brinson Park is a 3 acre open space park located next to Lakefront Park in Kissimmee. A linear park along Lakeshore Boulevard connects Brinson Park to Lakefront Park. Amenities at Brinson Park include BBQ grills, a fishing pier, picnic tables, restrooms that were added in 2015 and wetlands that attract a variety of wildlife. During my visit a family was enjoying a picnic and I admired the beautiful view while spotting several Florida wading birds. It is a pleasant place to walk and I like how it is connected to other parks.

It was very informational and neat to see a little piece of history. Once we were done there we got on the Bridge walkway. We did not realize how long the Park Trail was, which is 17 miles! We decided we are going to rent some bikes when it gets a little warmer and try our hand at finishing the path. However, we did walk some of it though, and it was beautiful. During a recent visit to St. Cloud, I spent some time exploring Lakefront Park, a beautiful…read more2.5-mile recreational park along the southern shore of East Lake Tohopekaliga, better known as East Lake Toho. This was originally home to the Disston Sugar Mill in the 1870s. After the city of St. Cloud was founded by Union Army veterans, the area gradually evolved into a scenic waterfront destination featuring walking trails and a large marina. After suffering extensive hurricane damage in 2004, the park underwent a major renovation. The improvements included 140 boat slips, new fixed and floating docks, a seawall, and a 10,000-square-foot community center. Today, Lakefront Park offers so much, with a sandy beach, splash pad, playgrounds, a concession stand, and more than two miles of paved walking and biking trails. The park also hosts a variety of community events, from monthly "Movies Under the Stars" screenings to seasonal festivals and bazaars. The full-service marina serves as a hub for boating and fishing on East Lake Toho while providing beautiful waterfront views. I enjoyed my visit and look forward to returning. Next time, I plan to take a cruise aboard The Lillie, a beautifully restored 75-foot authentic sternwheel paddleboat docked at the marina, and enjoy a meal at Crabby's on the Lake, the popular waterfront restaurant located adjacent to the park.

The piers also tend to attract a lot of birds looking for the fishermen's leftovers. The Eau Gallie Pier is just behind the library and north of the Eau Gallie Causeway in Melbourne. It stretches out over the picturesque Indian River. You can see the bridge to your right. Besides the pier there are docks, 2 boat ramps, and couple of picnic tables at opposite ends of parking lot. The pier is perfect for wildlife watching, photography, fishing, and catching the sunset. Eau Gallie has a long history of fishing beginning with the Native Americans and continuing into the turn of the century when James Wadsworth Rossetter arrived in Eau Gallie in 1902 and became a leader in the local fishing industry. Todays sportsman continue to enjoy fishing for snapper, grouper and tarpon in the river. Best of all the parking and pier are both free. The Eau Gallie Historic Distric is steps away with restaurants, art, and shopping. Discoveries like this pier are just another reason to love Old Florida towns.

I came here to get a nice jog in as the trail is used by cypress creek hs cross country during their season and I can see why. If you don't run, that's ok as lots of people come to walk or sit by the water( I enjoyed the water and ducks as well). There are two playgrounds for the little ones , one is covered for the smaller kids with plenty of benches . There are soccer fields and baseball fields which are perfect for weekend sports. It's kinda of crazy as the park is located by driving into the high school so I always thought it was closed during school hours but it's not since it's a public park. It's kept up well and I can't wait for another mid day jog or playground day!

The park is surrounded by two sulfur springs of historical significance, one to the east and one to the west that give you the feeling as if you are on a small island. The three acre park has a pavilion with several picnic tables and a grill. Throughout the park are large oak trees covered in moss that provides a shaded canopy from the sun. Around the water's edge are Cyprus trees with their interconnecting roots, also known as Cyprus knees, that stick up out of the ground. As you look out towards the water, you can see a newly reconstructed boardwalk popular with local fisherman. I especially enjoyed the wildlife at the park which is home to osprey, various Florida wading birds, and the alligators of Lake Jessup. This is an especially picturesque and peaceful park with a rich depth of area history.
