The Director swears that we had the conversation and that she told me this was happening and that the witness to our conversation was her daughter slash Co- Director. Not a very credible third party. She also told me jokingly that she should really start putting this in writing because parents always seem to be surprised when she tells them their child's spot is temporary. My son had a very difficult transition into daycare and my argument was why would I have put him through such a difficult transition knowing it would only be temporary?! Clearly we did not know. During our final conversation, after her telling me I needed to be "respectful to the staff" until his last day which blew me away since I was nothing but respectful to her staff, she told me over and over again how much they did for my son and how accommodating they were to him when he started. Now being an Elementary School Guidance Counselor myself, I said to her "if you are working with children, you SHOULD be doing everything that you can to accommodate any child's needs?" If that is not your. mindset then you have no business working with children. In conclusion, if you do choose this child care for your child, make sure you have it in writing that his or her spot is permanent.

The bathrooms are perfect, especially my BBB potty training; toilets are scaled down to their size. We have a few daycare learning center places we hold play dates in the local area and this location definitely scales up there! Clean, spacious, friendly staff. Looks like a great option for daycare/preschool; they accommodate 6weeks to 5years. Love how the center is sectioned away from the busy street being on the backside of the shared business building. Parking has never been an inside too. Thanks for sharing you space with the local moms and tots!

I was very excited that Heather had just started, coming from the Waldorf school and looking to add more nature and a garden to the center. It took a little bit for them to get back to me at first and things seemed a little disorganized but the director had just started the week before I toured, so I didn't think too much of it. We signed our son up for the infant room a few weeks later and then had about a month and a half before we were due to start. I called two weeks before our start date to try to meet the second infant room teacher that wasn't there either time I came in. At that point I was informed that there was a new head teacher. They almost wouldn't schedule me at all to come in to meet either of them before our start date. They suggested I could meet the teachers when I dropped him off on my first day back. When I said I would feel more comfortable coming in before that, they begrudgingly set up a time for us to come in. When I showed up they said they would have to reschedule, but since they scheduled me on the Friday before we were due to start, and they didn't want to reschedule me for that day, they said I could come in for 10 minutes (after lying and saying all of the babies were napping so I couldn't come in because the teachers both go on break during nap time?). I met the new teacher and while she was nice, she didn't seem very experienced or comfortable with infants. She mentioned that the other teacher was so great with infants because if she couldn't figure out why one was crying she would try to offer them to eat and if they didn't want to eat they must be hungry. I was shocked that the "head teacher" of the infant room would need to be told that. The overall vibe of the room and how they were caring for the infants made me uncomfortable and they said they were going to have to "kick us out" because a few kids were getting hungry (waiting until they were melting down before warming up a bottle) I understand you can't continue to talk, but shouldn't a parent be allowed to be in the room as much as they would like and see how the teachers interact with the kids? They didn't even say hi to my son when he woke up- it was all very unsettling. This, coupled with the fact that at enrollment I was assured they would allow use of cloth diapers, lead me to withdraw my son from their center. They then had the audacity to say that since I hadn't given a 2 week notice, they would want to charge me for another 2 weeks of tuition on top of the enrollment fee and first week tuition deposit. All this, despite the fact that they did not give us any notice that they would be changing staff and when I tried to come in to schedule to meet the new staff, they put me off until the last possible time. They also lied about it being a NH state law that cloth diapers are not allowed. I have since been told that several other teachers have left and the business manager made sure to tell me that with her 45 years of working in childcare, she knows that they have a great facility and that the new head teacher is well educated and great, which is more than she could say for the old head teacher. I asked if she was saying that she wouldn't have sent her own child there under the old head teacher. Her reply was, "well I would have been OK with it... but I can't say more." So that was great that they said how amazing that teacher was and how much she had done for the infant room program during my tour and then proceed to tell me that they wouldn't have been comfortable sending their own family there. They told many lies, and overall seemed very sneaky with tour times. I understand that you're not going to always have a picture of perfection in a room with 7 infants and only two adults, but the fact that they make you leave is concerning. It sounds like there is suddenly a lot of turnover and it is extremely concerning that they are not honest with what is going on. I would much prefer the knowledge that they are making changes and it is a busy time than to be lied to to cover up whatever. I would stay far away from this place!

My youngest is in the infant room and has also been enrolled since he was 11 weeks old. Being a full time working mom is difficult, but Nurture and Nature has made it much easier for my family and I to balance our life away from home. I wouldn't trust my kids in full time care anywhere else. When I was pregnant with my first, we toured many centers. The feeling I got touring N&N was much different than how I felt touring other centers in the area. These teachers truly care about the children. The teachers in the infant room are so nurturing and caring. My little man's face lights up when he sees Miss Jess each morning. My oldest boy is super sensitive and has a hard time being away from his Mommy. The toddler and preschool teachers work with my son to ensure a smooth transition to school on days when he misses me most. He loves to be outdoors and the children spend lots of time enjoying nature. Nature walks and water play in the playground are the highlights of his day. The culture at the center has helped establish a feeling of community. I have become friends with many of the other parents at the center, and I believe our kids will be continue to be friends throughout the years. Parent involvement is significant. Many parents dedicate lots of hours to the center, whether it be on the board of directors, fall/spring cleanup, monthly pantry contributions, or small odd jobs here and there. You can tell how much parents of the children at the center value the community here. There's been some leadership change over the past few years, but our current Director, Jennifer Blackwood, seems to be the perfect fit to continue to foster our great culture here at N&N.

They don't cut corners and have a full range of creative ways to help the children learn and grow. The preschool and school room teachers are exceptional. Both my daughters were more than ready for public school education. The outdoor play areas are large and have a very natural feel to them... They go out every day, sometimes several times a day and they do that year round. The classrooms are always changing with projects and paint and a liveliness that makes a parent feel good about trusting their children in these caretakers hands. Truly a wonderful school.

There's zero communication no matter how hard you try unless you count passive aggressive e-mails days to weeks later. Sure you get a few photos during the day but try getting a hold of anyone and the phone just rings, or you never get a phone call or e-mail back. Teachers seem inexperienced to actually teach anything worthwhile, pre-k and k are run like a daycare just with tables labeled "art", "snacks" and so forth. Their scapegoat is to say they emphasize "learning through play" so they don't have to put in the effort. $1000 month for HALF days but nothing to show for this insane amount of tuition besides other kids families bringing in goody bags or snacks. They make you fill out novels of paperwork beforehand but don't even read the documents they make you turn in! Your child has a food allergy? They ignore it and give your child that food. My kiddo comes home saying they had a stomachache and told the teacher they felt sick, but you get no report or phone call?! - just to find out with questioning your child that they're feeding your kiddo their allergen!! The next day they sent him home WITH his allergen food AFTER I called and asked why he was eating said allergen and the teacher called me saying " I didn't see that but I'm looking at it now" say what?!! To add insult to injury they make you give 30 days paid notice to unenroll and then you finally get communication FAST from their see you aunt tee director demanding payment, daily kind you.. demanding it daily. Please research and read other reviews that say exactly this about this disgraceful "school". I wish I had and saved 2k.

I then waited for almost 15 minutes while there was the constant sound of crying children, but no one came to the front area and no one was visible in either the office or kindergarten area (again, this was after I had rang the doorbell requesting entry). Finally, I gave up and just left, never having the ability to speak with anyone. Perhaps this was unusual, but it doesn't inspire confidence in me and does not make me feel comfortable with the idea of leaving my daughter at this center.

I was worried about sending a five month old to daycare so early but the kindness and attentiveness of the teachers here made it much easier on me. This particular location has a full kitchen and they provide breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks which is a huge help for busy parents. They also have playgrounds based on the child's age and the teachers love getting the kids outside in the fresh air. Every day they play games, sing songs and create art work that are all tied to learning. It is more of a school than a day care and they have a great curriculum that they share with parents so we can include the same topics at home. The staff is wonderful. They are all very kind and they truly care about the kids and parents. It is also extremely clean. They also released a mobile app that I get updates and pictures of him throughout the day. If you are looking for day care, or school for your child, you cannot go wrong here.

She was super quick to respond to our emails and questions, very friendly, and very competent. We also liked the majority of teachers that we met who interacted with our child. The only complaint we made during our time there was that during drop-off and pick-up things always seemed a bit more hectic than they needed to be -- it seemed like having another teacher in there during that time would have helped. The other challenge was teacher turnover, though I imagine this is fairly common at any daycare center. Of the 12 or so teachers we met, five moved on in the year that we were there. Luckily they ended up being replaced by other great teachers. Our only reason for leaving is that a 10% discount on two children was still much higher than us just hiring a nanny.

We have been very happy with our experience at Bright Horizons at Newburyport! Our little guy…read morestarted in the infant program and has moved up into one of the toddler rooms. The teachers at the center so clearly love what they do and take pride in their work. Our little guy is greeted warmly every day and even when drop offs are hard I know he's in the best hands. His teachers work hard to partner with us through challenging behaviors (toddler tantrums, oof) and have always been willing try out new things and provide feedback on how he's doing. On our car ride to school I hear all about who he wants to play with and which teachers he is hoping to see. It's so lovely knowing he's excited for his classroom.
