Gingivectomy A procedure used to eliminate gum pockets that can collect bacteria which cause gum/periodontal disease, usually performed on back teeth. Guided Tissue Regeneration (Periodontal Grafting or GTR) GTR/regeneration is carried out to regain some of the bone lost after severe periodontal disease has occurred on one or more teeth. Crown Lengthening A procedure carried out to lower the gum line around a tooth thus exposing more of the tooth for a dentist to prepare and insert a crown over the tooth. Alternatively this is done to remove excess gum that can grow around teeth particularly in younger patients after orthodontic treatment or patients on medication. Dental Implants Used to replace missing teeth by inserting a titanium rod into the jaw bone. Once this fuses with the jaw bone a porcelain crown can be screwed over the top of the implant thus replacing the lost tooth. Bone Grafting (Guided Bone regeneration or GBR) Bone grafting is carried out to replace lost bone usually prior to implant placement Sinus Grafting A form of bone grafting done in the upper posterior jaw to facilitate implant placement Exposure of unerupted teeth Removal of gum tissue and bone overlying the tooth is removed to expose the impacted tooth underneath

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed recently (two days ago, so if I'm thinking well of him at this point then he must have done something right) and could not have asked for a better doctor. He has a wonderful bed side manner and is very approachable to ask questions of. All in all it was, I believe, the best possible experience I could have had in having my wisdom teeth removed.

Ok, so maybe I'm not quite at the…read morestage where I look forward to it, but Smile Care Dental has certainly provided me with a much more pleasurable dentist experience than anywhere else I've been before. The first thing you notice is how modern the clinic is - right down to the magazines in the waiting area. When was the last time you saw the latest magazines in a waiting area?! There are always newspapers & apples on the counter that you are encouraged to take. After all - an apple a day keeps the doctor (or dentist) away! The staff are all super friendly & the dentist & hygienist really take the time to talk & get to know you - you certainly know you're in good hands. Those big, scary examination chairs are made that bit better with TVs above them so you are distracted from whatever is going on in your mouth! My favourite part is the goody bag you get at the end - complete with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss & lip balm, as well as a reminder card for your next appointment. No one loves going to the dentist, but these guys do everything possible so you can grin & bear it...see what I did there?

Advanced Dental is affiliated with several health funds and as someone with BUPA (the old Mutual Community) the amount of money I have to pay for a check up is slashed compared to where I went before. To have my teeth cleaned and polished and checked by the dentist, I pay nothing. Absolutely nothing, my health fund picks up the rest! Such a relief compared to other dentists! The clinic is slick and modern and with TVs in the ceiling, awkward conversations can be negated by watching the telley to fill in your time and with a full suite of specialists, all your care can be done in one place. All the clinicians here present well and are very professional. A lovely place, I reccommend this to anyone looking for a new dentist.

What a wonderful place…read more This review is for all the people who are afraid of going to a public dentist, especially to a learner dentist at a public dental school. I didn't have the money to get my wisdom teeth out, and had to go the public health services route. I am so glad I did! I hopped in the chair and was attended to a student who was not only hot (which was admittedly weird; nobody wants a hot stranger rummaging around in their mouth before at least one good boozy date) but also the most friendly, positive and focused of any dentists I've been to. He was incredibly gentle too and I felt no pain after the first anaesthetic jabs. They suck but they are about the same amount of pain as having blood taken from your arm. A lot of my friends have chosen to have the full anaesthetic while having their teeth extracted. Maybe if you need all four removed at the same time, you might choose that. (I only needed two removed). But I really want to tell you that even for someone like me, who gets shaky at the mere thought of dentists, it is much less painful than you'd imagine. So if you are waiting, quaking in your boots, for some pimply-faced dental student to do a little shop of horrors number on your face, take a deep breath and relax. These guys are being taught so well, both in 'customer service' (otherwise known as being a nice human being) and in dentistry. They'll leave you smiling!

These are the words that greet you on their excellent website and set the tone for what great service is offered at Lucas Dental. The clinic itself is a beautiful building and already makes you feel calmer about being there (because let's face it nobody actually enjoys going to the dentist). There is a huge plasma you can watch to try and distract you from the dentist trauma that is to come and plenty of reading material. The walls are also almost all glass and offers an amazing view of the courtyard below, equipped with tranquil water features and heaps of flora. The staff are lovely and the dentists make you feel so much less stressed. They are very good in explaining your problem and treatments in normal-people terms and make you feel confident in their abilities. They also offer great support regarding finances and will create a payment plan that will suit you and your budget. There is also no pressure to come back straight away; they just let you know what needs to be done and you go ahead and book the appointments as soon as your budget can dictate.

But I chipped a front tooth and had to get it fixed. So after browsing the net and ringing around I found this one. Their prices were ok and they were the only one that could get in me in before the weekend (it was only Tuesday when I rang). The dentist I saw was fantastic. I explained my massive phobias and asked he just fix what I wanted and he did exactly as I had asked. I didn't have to endure lots of bull about my other teeth or petty conversation with either people in the room, nor did he converse with the dental assistance in front of me unless it was related to what he was doing. All in all he just did the job required. And pretty quickly for a dentist, I was out within and hour from arrival, which including waiting before I even got in to the dentist. The fix itself was very fast. Their service was so good that I would definitely go back here again if I absolutely have to go to the dentist. I am very particular on dentists and this one ticked all my boxes. Not the previous one I tried which I ran out of in tears and never made another appointment.

They have extended opening hours which is fantastic so you don't have to take time off work to get an appointment all the time. They have other more specialised services they offer such as some sports stuff, psychologists, weight management and laser hair removal. they also have a pharmacy in the same complex so you can get your prescriptions filled before you leave. Best features are the definitely the bulk billing, the extended opening hours and their after hours locum service (BEST thing ever is you have really sick kids - the doc comes to you and all the details are still kept on their same files).
