We hired Richmond Exteriors to replace the siding on our home with James Hardie. We unfortunately had to take legal action against them due to so many issues, and they had to pay us 65k for things like damages they caused. The whole experience with them was a nightmare. They were working on our house for about a year and a half when the Manager stopped responding to us. After 90 days of silence, we took legal action. Below isn't even everything that they did. I just hit the review character limit. I have photos of everything. First, Richmond dropped off the wrong trim and also not enough materials to cover our home. When they started working, we noticed that when you pushed on the stucco boards from the outside, they would push in, and had no stability behind them. We paid for OSB but they did not install OSB. Everything had to get re-done. They left holes open in our siding for months. We found squirrels in holes in the sides of our house, and heard them in the ceilings. James Hardie reps had to come show the Richmond installers how to install the siding correctly. We had to tell the Richmond installers how to properly apply weatherproof tape around the windows, because they weren't doing it at all. They left an open, loose sawblade on the stairs of our walkway after leaving for the day. They tried to use painted primed trim instead of ordering the more expensive, real J.H. colorplus boards that we paid for in our contract. We called them out on it, and they had to re-order the REAL Color Plus boards. Water leaked into our living room wall/floor because the workers messed up some flashing on the roof right above where it was. They kept running out of materials so they would always have to re-order more. Each time they had to reorder, it took roughly 2-3 months. This happened probably 5-6 times. MAJOR water damage happened to multiple interior walls, flooring, and ceiling. An inspector confirmed that the water was running off a roof area, into an open wall hole to the right of it. Their gutter guys broke an exterior light and the electrical box that went with it. This was not replaced until almost a year later. They also installed almost every single gutter with the wrong pitch. Water would pour over the edges and down the sides of our windows/siding. A downspout installed also broke off because it just wasn't ever properly connected. A bat got into our house through the hole from the water leak since they never patched it up. Our two cats were chasing it, so we had to take them to the vet. When some old gutters were taken down, they dumped all the gross stuff inside them (and huge 5" nails) all over our back deck, siding and awning, right outside the door. I had to tell them the next day to come back and clean it up. A soffit board wasn't wide enough in one of the areas, so they took some stucco siding (completely different texture), to patch it, and make it wide enough. When they came inside to fix all the interior wall damage that they caused, things got worse. The worker didn't put drop cloths down, so plaster dust got everywhere. He then mopped everything without vacuuming first, so it turned the drywall dust into paste, and then he proceeded to push that paste into almost all of the cracks in our hardwood floors with the mop. It was insane. 38k of hardwood floor damage. A trim board was actually falling off the house at one point because they didn't attach it well. They dented one of our gutters with their ladder and also incorrectly tethered/nailed the ladder directly through our roof tiles. The workers shot a nail into our mature River Birch tree. They didn't tear off our old wood soffit. They just nailed our new soffit over the old one, even though our contract said they would tear the existing wood siding off. They never installed a drip edge when they installed the gutters, and it was listed that they would install it in our contract, with us paying for 380 ft. of it. We had to get our home completely re-sided with someone else, because of Richmond. read more

BEWARE! July 2021, we had someone come out to give us an estimate on gutter work. Since then it has been nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone nor have we had good communication. Since then the only person we could get ahold of was someone from billing.  In December, we received a text the day before that work was going to be completed during the snowstorm the very next day.  The next day we finally got a hold of someone to say that there was not enough time for someone to be home during the work. We rescheduled for April 12. On April 12 2022, no one came out and there was no communication. Work started on April 13. On April 13, workers were not going to finish out the work on the top of our house because that was not in the estimate. Why in the world would an estimate be given by only doing half of the house? It also creates a problem of our house not being watertight.  We talked to Terry but he did not seem interested in getting the problem solved immediately.   We were told to call back the next day to talk to Terry and ask him if he talked to Jerry because his day was busy. This SHOULD have been taken care of that day so we could work out a solution TOGETHER. Today is April 15th and we still do not have a resolution. Update on May 3th, work is still not completed on our house. Supervisors have been out to our house and promised us different things, however we are still without gutters. read more

We used Richmond Exteriors (sub-contractors) through our contractor to replace a large, custom made awning due to hail damage. The entire process was very frustrating for both us and the installers. I'm not sure if this was just a fluke or how they normally do business. We had problems from the get-go. It had to be measured 3 times before ordering the awning. After waiting 3 weeks a main beam was missing from the order. Unfortunately, this wasn't found until the old awning was removed so we waited another two weeks for that to arrive. All the while being told on Friday afternoon the part would arrive on Monday and they'd finish the job on Monday. Didn't happen nor did we receive a phone call. Two weeks passed and they arrived to install the new awning. This time they confused jobs with another home on the same street name and thought they had completed our home. They struggled installing the awning and keep removing what they had installed and started over again and again. The man told us they could finish the installation in one day but it took a full week. When they were close to finished the one man was going to install the last few pieces the next day but he never showed on Friday. He returned Monday with a supervisor and they struggled but completed the job. My husband had to point out several things that had to be corrected. One being a beam was installed upside down. The job is finally complete and the awning looks nice. By the way, our Contractor was assisting and keep in contact with Richmond Exteriors. There were so many promises and apologies I lost track. The Supervisor apologized and said everything just went wrong and they had problems. The installers were friendly, tidy and frustrated as much as we were. I don't think we'd hire them after our ordeal. They do many things from roofing, siding, fences plus more so maybe their better suited for those skill sets. The Contractor said they'd never had problems with Richmond before if that would matter to you. I just know this installation had poor communication, shorts work days, they appeared baffled and days turned into weeks. Had a sales representative out 6 days ago and was told we would get a quote in a couple of days. After hearing nothing I called. Sales representative calls back and he's been extremely busy and probably will get it tomorrow. My other quotes were done within 2 days. I asked to speak to the sales manager was told it would do nothing. We have used Richmond in the past as have family and friends without issue or delays. Requested a quote and sale person was sent out. We talked about what I was looking for and recommendations. Several options etc. Sales person said that he'd sent an estimate out. We had about a garden window for the kitchen and 3 windows for the living room. We talked about several options and he promised to send a breakdown of the various options in the estimate. Received a vaguely worded quote a couple day later that showed no option and didn't even clarify which of the options had been quoted. I asked for the spec sheet or brochure for the garden windows we had talked about and he replied they there wasn't one. First red flag. I responded how could there not be one and then he sent one to me. After 8 exchanged messages just trying to get the information we talked about, he then replied that sorry he had not been able to help me. As he never delivered the estimate we discussed, I didn't have the information to make a decision. I would avoid this company if you don't want to waste several weeks with no output. read more

Was not happy with my experience with Richmond Exteriors. We got all new gutters, facia and soffit. It took them 3 months to finish and had to be redone because of such a bad job the first time. Did not do a good job cleaning up after themselves, I'm still finding nails from them. I would not recommend them and hope they hire better workers and communicators to their clients. read more

I entered into a contract with Richmond in mid October, paid 50% down on the job and was told the job would commence in 4-6 weeks. It's been more than 8 weeks and I'm still unsure when the job will be completed because they do not answer or return calls. I've received two text messages from the company, one dated 11/18 saying the job would start on 11/19, it didn't happen. Then another text received on 12/14 saying the job would start on 12/15, it didn't happen. I'm likely to seek a refund but my guess is that won't happen either because this company doesn't seem very competent or helpful in any way. If you are considering this company, I would suggest seeking out someone else to do work on your home. read more

Stay clear! They started 2 days late without telling anyone. Blamed it on rain but started in the rain. First sunny day, no where to be found. Then left material and extension cords laying over the little bit they did do. Did not show up on Friday and when I finally got ahold of someone they told me that no one would be there until 4 days later if it's not raining. This was all during Memorial Day weekend. I advised that hopefully future customers would be warned of such poor service and told them if they would have told me, I would have put it off until after the holiday if someone would have said that the installer was not going to be here half the time. read more

We had our installation changed so many times in 2021, but that was due to COVID and supply-chain issues. Unfortunate, but nobody could really control that. The main issues: I have had to request, THREE, separate times major corrections due to poor workmanship. Right off the bat soon after installation, top rails and panels were loose. I called to have that remediated. They came out and installed screws to secure the top rails because they were missing and were not installed the first time. Then they realized that my gate is upside down, that same day. That explained why it sagged and didn't lock correctly. The gate was also missing some brackets and a support bar. The second time a gust of wind blew out an entire section of fence. It was an eyesore and embarrassing for me and for Richmond as a company. My fence was the only one affected. I asked for a full comprehensive check on the fence. They came out and realized there were some screws missing to secure the top rails on the other half!! As for the comprehensive check, it was not done. I work form home and watched them repair the panels, but no check was done. The third time, another gust of wind blew out some other panels. Again, my fence was the only one affected. I was pretty irate the third time and requested a manager, owner, whatever to come to come knock on my door and do a comprehensive check together. So that they don't ever have show up again. They have a sense a humor because they suggested the person that installed my fence to come out, I told them that is the last person I want coming to check the fence, so they sent out a site manager or whatever with many many years of experience. He fixed the panels and assured me it was good to go. We'll see. My saving grace is the warranty that covers them coming back out, but only lasts two years, and mine is up October. I debated waiting until then to leave this review in case something else happened and they had to come out, but I truly am over this company. The final supervisor or manager left his business card so that was appreciated. If they had a decal of their company on my fence, they don't, I would take it down. If I had all the money in the world, I would tear it down and have another company do it. Their customer service people were always friendly and helpful though, when you could reach them. read more

Avoid Richmond Exteriors at all costs! They said they would be here Tuesday no one came no one called my husband called them Tuesday night and was given some excuse about cement issues...but we had to call them. They showed up Wednesday and all they did was paint a line in our grass they were supposed to put up our fence posts. Thursday it rained all day but they promised they'd be here Friday. After waiting all day Friday I called and was told someone would get back to me because she was too busy. We waited 2 months for nothing my recomendation is to keep scrolling past these guys as they do not care about their customers. read more

I just saw a crew leaving my newly constructed neighborhood by cutting across the grass to the street instead of driving the 1/4 mile to the entrance. I have no idea what kind of work they do, but if you like the idea of a vendor disrespecting your community property, give these guys a call. read more

We contracted Richmond to replace all siding, windows and gutters. Project time was 3 weeks, and 7 weeks later still waiting on finishing touches. Chip was the sales guy and was very misleading about their products. Was helpful and assured us a maintenance free home and they ended up mismatching boards and painting them. I never knew painting was no maintenance. Quoted us a new front door and never delivered Patrick was the superintendent and rarely seen him. Very poor communication on all aspects of the job. We never knew if or when they would be working. Seems like their job strategy is just get it close and we can fill it in with caulking. If you want timely, quality and good customer service Richmond is not the company for you. read more

I was surprised to see any negative reviews on these guys. I was referred to Richmond by a friend for new gutters. They were very affordable - came in well under our budget - and did a great job. The sales rep I spoke with at my house was very knowledgeable, and didn't just try and up-sell me. I'd use them again and certainly recommend them. read more

Richmond Exteriors: This company was contracted through Lowes to put a new roof on our home. They no-showed/no-called on the day that they were supposed to begin tear-off (2 weeks ago) and when I called to see what the issue was, David Palmer lied to me to cover up the fact that they did not obtain a work permit. He actually said that it was an issue with the city. I called the city and was told that there was absolutely no record of request for a roofing permit from the company. Called Lowes back with my concerns and received a call from Richmond Exteriors, this time from a gentleman who explained it was a mix up of "he thought I did, I though he did" in obtaining the permit and he apologized for the mix-up. The job was rescheduled for today, (by David Palmer aka "Pants on Fire") against my better judgement. Should have told them to take a long walk when they were dishonest but to my own fault, I like to give second chances. After all, we all make mistakes. Fritz with Richmond Exteriors showed up in the morning at 730ish today and sat around in the driveway for an hour and a half waiting on his crew and then left. Received a call at 10:22 AM that there was a scheduling issue with the crew and that they would start tomorrow instead. Nope. You're done. You outright lie, have the worst communication for a company that I have ever dealt with and I would not trust you to pooper scoop the yard at this point. I will let the job sit, with supplies in the driveway, for a company who might actually like to work when they say they are going to and hopefully do so with honesty and integrity. Richmond put a new roof and guttering on our home in 2014. Mostly non-english-speaking crew, but they did a great job. The problem was with the roof on our screened in porch in the back of the home. Never fixed it properly, leaks like a sieve to this day. Also, check the reviews on the type of roofing they try to sell you. For very little more we were able to upgrade to much better product. They buy a certain type of roofing in bulk so they make more money off of it. Don't let them fast talk you into a lower-quality product. Very satisfied with roof and guttering only. read more

HORRIBLE.... Had fence installed way back in Sept. 2015 Contract stated that ALL posts were to be set in concrete for 4 foot chain link fence. 2 days after install, we noticed a wobbly post. Called for them to come fix it. Found small empty concrete mix bag in yard... We thought the problem was "fixed". Fast forward to Feb. 2016 after snow melted and ground settled, 2 posts were wobbly AGAIN and completely fell over when we barely pushed on them. We called again for them to come fix it. After weeks of calling and complaining they finally come out unannounced, we just came home from work with our fence in pieces.... Each post of the previously installed fence was well under 6 foot to make a 4 foot fence!! I am 5 foot, they were shorter than I am! None was set in concrete! Posts only set in 10 inches of ground. (Corner posts and gate posts should be 3-4ft buried and every other post should be 2ft buried) They did not honor their contract. Every post was not set in concrete and not at appropriate length for a 4 foot chain link fence. It was a disgrace of a fence. They took forever, more than a MONTH to finally do it right. We always had to call to check in or ask when they were coming.There was no sense of urgency. And no offer of any type of discount when THEY broke their contract. We paid for a big headache. They said they would "see" about some financial reimbursement but then when the fence was finally replaced they declined to honor that statement. Our replacement fence was covered in mud and has scratches on the post. It needs cleaned and painted, for which they haven't done yet either. Cigarette butts and French fries were also left in my yard for me to clean up. And I am fairly certain my new replacement fence posts were not placed in gravel first, then concrete so the concrete will probably just work its way out of the ground. Time will tell. I will NEVER refer this company to anyone. Be very cautious if you are considering this place! read more

Theres no way i would recommend these guys. I worked with Mark Yattaw and he was extremely unprofessional. He was lazy, conned money from my neighbor and when she asked for it back, he was cussing at her through texts messages. The roof looks nice, but the customer service was awful. read more

Horrible, unreliable. We had a leak in our roof that came through our bathroom ceiling. We made a claim to our insurance and had to have someone come out to give an estimate. Tyler from Richmond exteriors showed up and made a good first impression. He went over everything and stated he would be at our home the day the insurance adjuster had scheduled to be there so he could point everything out and told us how important it was for him to be there with the adjuster. That day came and five minutes before Tyler was supposed to arrive he text saying he was sick and couldn't make it. Everything he had described that was wrong the adjuster said was fine, but Tyler wasn't here to dispute anything like he had told us was so important. We still have heard nothing else from Tyler. We even forwarded him a copy of the adjusters findings and have not heard anything. Do not waste your time. Find someone else who will communicate with you. Or show up period. read more
