Stayed at this hotel twice while on business travel. Facilities: The parking lot is very large. Also the fitness room is a decent size and well equipped. The only downside is that you have to walk though the dining room to get to it. Very nice bar/lounge area. Room: Had a room with a king bed for both stays. The beds were comfortable. The room was very spacious and what I would expect from a standard Marriott room. Staff: Very courteous and helpful. We only stay at Marriott's when we travel. I have to say this was the first time we had stayed at one where the bathroom did not have a door! You could watch TV and the person in the bathroom at the same time. Good thing I was with my husband and we aren't shy. Marriott do better. To say this place was just redone, was disappointing. Who wants to be in a small hotel room where they can't shut a bathroom door??? The bed....plywood would be better to sleep on. Hardest bed ever. Side note: shout out to the restaurant on site. Great hotel with easy access to 64 and Broad St which allow you to get anywhere in RVA. CLEAN- my number one criteria for a hotel! Great friendly service. In room frig, coffee, and safe Ample parking Mobile key thru the app. One oddity, the smart TV offerred netflix when you sign in with your account, but only ad free vetsion, so we couldnt use it unless we changed our plan. Had a lovely experience at this hotel! The front desk attendant was super nice and helpful, as was the entire staff -- from getting me settled into my room to ordering the best menu options for dinner. My room was spacious, modern and cozy. I had access to the M Lounge, which was a nice experience. There are usually light bites for lunch/dinner I believe but that wasn't an option that weekend. The breakfast however was good and I loved the snack options, though I'll admit, all the chips we grabbed were stale. The hotel was overall quite quiet and near lots of walkable restaurants and shopping areas. Next time I'm in Richmond, I will stay here. read more

We had an amazing dinner at the restaurant in this hotel. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. Large portions and well prepared. The wine was good and their specialty bourbon Manhattan was one of the best I have ever had. I am leaving a 5 star for the dinner crew. The breakfast crew was 180 degrees. UPDATE. I was inappropriately charged for a restaurant tab that I wasn't even here for. Someone managed to sign my initials and that's not how I sign my name. Accounting didn't bother calling me when they said they found a receipt and just said it was my charge. All this was in addition to having someone come into my room when I had the do not disturb sign on and PARTIALLY CLEAN my room and take all the towels without replacing them. And then they sent my coat out for dry cleaning and the dry cleaning place got a stain on it that can't be cleaned and all that happened was the laundry charge wasn't charged to my account, but no compensation for the permanent damage to my clothes. read more

I stayed here recently while in town for a conference... Check was excellent, the young lady who checked me in (I arrived at 8PM) was spot on! She hit all the marks and was very professional! The property is somewhat dated, but looks to be kept up quite well. Last time I stayed here was about 16 years ago and I seem to recall much of it looking the same. Room was comfy, no glaring issues. Bed was comfy, shower worked fine. Surprisingly, the AC seemed to work well and wasn't crazy-loud also. I'm really sick & tired of so many Marriott properties that are large buildings having a very poor (chiller style?) HVAC system which doesn't cool the room at all and I end up waking up overnight sweating nearly each time. This property was decent on my stay, but from reading the comments, seems others have experienced this issue here. They have an M Club here, which is really nice, as it offers coffee, water, soda, snacks 24x7. Overall, nice visit, I can see returning. read more

I come to this hotel almost every year on our way to Outer Banks. It is such a nice hotel. We had to stay for four nights for a work trip my dad had to be at. And this place brought a lot of comfort. Felt like home! We have a family of five and it is hard to fit all of us. We ended up bringing a camping cot for one of us to sleep on and it works great. This was very clean overall. The beds are a nice memory foam which makes it very comfortable. I do wish there was a microwave but that isn't a big deal at all. And we tried to go to the indoor pool, but it was FREEZING. I stayed at this Marriott in Short Pump for a little weekend getaway. I arrived a couple hours before check-in so I asked if early check-in was available. Luckily, it was and I was given a key to my room. I got a king bed and the room was nice and clean. The bed was comfortable and I love that Marriott hotels have the ability to allow you to sign in to Netflix. One thing that was a little out of the hotel's control is the noise in the hallways. There was a sports team staying in the hotel at the time so there was a bit a noise from time to time. Overall, I would stay here again. It's in a great location not far from a shopping mall and plenty of places to eat. It's about 20 minutes from downtown Richmond but there is also plenty to do in this area as well. read more

This place is absolute hell. The air conditioning is awful - I'm surprised there aren't more complaints this summer. We are here in Richmond for a wedding and it's in the 90s. The lobby is hot as hell, the hallways in the rooms are humid, and our AC in the room is janky as hell - we have it on 60 yet it shoots out warm air half the time so the room is humid or sweltering that we barely sleep through the night. The beds are hard as rocks as well and mess up your back. read more

What a beautiful hotel! The lobby is spacious and the front desk staff were welcoming. There was a cozy fire going and a few comfy chairs upon entering and I immediately got a inviting vibe. A tv in another larger area with couches and chairs made a relaxing space to catch up on the latest news. The dining room was roomy and pristine. We stopped at the stylish bar for a drink while we waited for our party. The White Russian was refreshing and the bar tender was very pleasant. I was pleasantly surprised at the many nooks and seating areas around the first floor of the hotel. I can see many patrons grabbing a table at a small alcove while having a conference or catching up on work. There were charging stations for convenience. My friend was staying there for her honeymoon and her room was bright, clean and spacious! The restrooms were impeccably clean and well stocked. I'd definitely recommend staying here and/or hosting an event at this modern, cool hotel! read more

Wow, this was disappointing. I stayed here for most of a week and was amazed at how tired and unmaintained this place was. I slept well and staff was nice, but wow - not up to standards. Certainly not my room. The paint on the ceiling was coming off in big chunks. Especially near the bathroom. Likely because there was no fan or if there was, it didn't turn on. The toilet was so close to the bathtub that your thigh will get an extra washing. Maybe it was some weird bidet that didn't quite work out. That would be why the toilet seat was off center by about two inches. The USB outlets were so used that they wouldn't stay in. I had to move furniture to find an outlet that I could use. I hope whoever checks these things doesn't mind that they had plugged this ginormous six way outlet into one of the outlets. That was strange on top of a strange stay. read more

H E to the double hockey sticks no.. stayed in Short Pump...geez...They always have dirty duvets. The towels, sheets, and pillowcases always have hair and makeup on it. Look closely in the bed I swear the sheets are not being changed. Food was in the fridge. There is always BIG MOLD in the rooms. The front desk is ratchet. You ask for a manager some tall goofy guy that starts with a "W" shows up and he never knows anything. The GM is no better. He acts a little touched in the brain too. The bathrooms are filthy. The rooms look like a guest just checked out before you. Just throw the whole darn hotel away. These people are not running this place correctly. When you walk in you are like WOW. Then you go upstairs. I give 1 star because I had no choice. read more

I really enjoyed my stay here, even if it was for just one night. It was very convenient to restaurants and other businesses that I visited, there were walking trails not too far away (one that you could walk to and a couple urban parks that I drove to), their exercise room was great for this size hotel (although I did not use the aerobic equipment because I was outside walking), the front desk folks were especially helpful and pleasant, the room was very comfortable, and the restaurant/ bar area looked nice (I did not eat there because i had dinner plans with a fried in the area and I wanted to try out a breakfast place close by). I would definitely come back here again if I needed to be in the area. My only real knock on this property was that the access to the exercise room and pool area was not especially convenient. You have to walk down a long-ish hallway and down a set of stairs. The reason for the appears clear: the exercise room and pool are situated on the side of the building that can only be accessed otherwise by walking through the restaurant; I would not want sweaty people traipsing through the restaurant when people are trying to eat. But a solution to encourage people (not discourage) people to exercise would be desirable. read more

Overall, a nice experience. We got there very late (11 pm) and the front desk staff was very friendly and chipper despite being so late. We stopped in the M Lounge before heading up to our room and grabbed complimentary sodas and granola bars. The room was very nice and clean. Decor was updated and very modern. Only complaint was the rather bizarre bathroom door - it's a frosted sliding door. No lock and a bit of a gap on either side of the door where it slides...if you are a private person, this will not be a comfortable situation. I traveled with my teenage daughter and she was quite uncomfortable with the non-locking, sliding door - she's modest and it made her very wary of the bathroom. A real disappointment in the room as we both had to shower, etc and the frosted style of the door was just way outside of our comfort zone. Service and friendliness of staff was A+, though! The M Lounge breakfast was average - eggs and sausage links (no bacon! Who leaves out bacon?!). Despite lovely staff and cleanliness, not sure I'd stay again ONLY because of the weird, privacy issues with bathroom door! read more

I booked a room through GoSplitty. When I checked in I had to show my credit card for " confirming" purposes and was a second time charged for the room by Marriott. They are not honoring a room reservation through a third party booking service!!! I talked a few times with a receptionist and suppose to get a refund. I called and sent emails to the Marriott customer service, still no refund! I travel for business purpose and Marriott Hotels will be not my choice in the future! Pretty good hotel. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by the front desk employee. She did not say, "Thank you for being the Platinum Ambassador with Marriott" but then again - they don't say that anymore because Marriott has too many different loyalty levels now, and they change them so often that most employees don't bother to welcome you as required by Marriott standards. Not a surprise here. The room was nice and clean, the bed was comfortable but the mattress was sliding away from the base (as someone else mentioned in their review) and the bathroom had no ventilation so the ceilings were wet and almost dripping after our showers. They do have Club Lounge on the first floor, we arrived pretty late but they had some brownies and pretzels. Actually one of the best brownies I have tried (hotel style). The breakfast at the Club Lounge was disappointing though. Not worth it. However, the lobby and the restaurant downstairs was very beautiful, and the parking was free. We would come back. read more

We stopped here on our way south on a road trip amid the pandemic. We got in super late and had to be let in the door as it was locked for the night. The woman behind the desk was incredibly nice and welcoming regardless of how late it was. She made conversation and seemed interested in our travels. Other guests were not wearing masks while walking around the hotel which was a bit unsettling to me and my family, but we just needed a place to sleep and shower so we could get on the road again the next morning. If I'm being honest, we were only there for a few hours so I can't speak to all of the amenities or lack or amenities this place has to offer their guests. It was clean and our room was as expected. I was VERY, VERY unhappy with the Richmond Marriott Short Pump location. On the night I arrived, the bathroom door fell off, and no one has fixed this and the cable is out in the room. I had spoken to Ashley at the front desk , who has ignored the fact that we are scared the glass door may fall on us. So I had to bathe in room 526, coworkers room.. I was told another room would be given, but the rooms aren't Ashley stated a room has to be cleaned so we have to wait.. WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC..HOW ARE THE ROOMS NOT CLEANED AND READY! Why in a PANDEMIC are there rooms that have not been DISINFECTED and ready for guests, Why weren't the rooms cleaned already. Lastly. I go to the front desk to follow up on the broken shower door Ashley is typing so I don't interrupt her. She begins to stare at us, as if we were crazy. I asked her if she was ready for us, she says ready for what? WHERE IS THE PROFESSIONALISM...This is the Marriott Hotel.. I feel like I just stayed in a Motel. I checked out a day early and my friend checked out 2 days early. My money matters! I emailed the General Manager and never heard anything from anyone. Ssve your money, and your life.. Don't stay there.. there's a Hampton Inn around the corner...and the room was vlean..door was sealed with the Lysol seal on the door.  I am canceling tonight's  reservation. read more

Check-in was fast and simple. I walk into the room and it stinks. I find hair on the lamp, washcloth and in the shower...yuck. I noticed there was a hold for the room on my credit card and the amount was higher than what it should've been. I asked the front desk about it and was told it in closed an incidental fee. No one told me about the fee upon check-in. The hotel is nice, but the staff needs to ensure they provide customers with information and housekeeping check behind themselves to ensure rooms are clean. read more

My wife and I stayed here for a few days while she was in town for work. The staff was really nice, and our room was clean and comfortable. A typical Marriott, really. Since I was just tagging along while she worked, I just drove around the area and worked out. There's a fair amount of restaurants nearby in Glen Allen. Some good, some not-so-good. Regardless, this location gives you plenty of options nearby if you're a business traveler (which I assume nearly everyone staying at this location is). We didn't hit up the hotel restaurant because it was always dead, so it wasn't exactly an appealing atmosphere. We thought about stopping by the bar for a few drinks, but the vibe there wasn't good. Dark, only a few TV's and really not the type of bar you'd see yourself wanting to wind down at or even spend more than one drink hanging out in. Since I spent my mornings working out, I can say that the coolest part of the hotel wasn't even the hotel itself. The hotel happens to be situated in a business park that was cool enough to build a nice walking/running trail throughout. The trail runs through the park, around the manmade lakes, over little bridges, and alongside the roads. I was able to squeeze nearly 4 miles out of each run by simply varying my routes. There are quite a few ways and options. Unfortunately, I ran into a bunch of dead ends where the trail makers ran out of ideas...or pavement, but it was still really fun to just cruise around in the mornings. If you're staying there, definitely take advantage of trails. Paved, shaded by trees, and really relaxing. The other workouts took place in the hotel gym. It's hard to really get down on a hotel's gym, since I've rarely met a top-notch gym within the confines of a giant hotel. This one is no different. They only have a few treadmills/cardio machines, which is no surprise. The biggest issues are the lack of space, as it's very small and I don't know how more than one person could workout in there. Luckily, I was the only one! There's a water cooler and towels, which is nice. The worst part, aside from the space was that the seat on the adjustable bench was broken. Luckily I didn't find out the hard way, and I notified the front desk afterwards. Hopefully it's been fixed by now. Overall, a nice hotel...and I can't emphasize how much I enjoyed the trail in the business park! read more

I stayed in one of the new "Stay Well" rooms, and I felt so realized going to bed and waking up every morning. The gym is located right behind the restaurant (really nice, and next to the pool), and there's a Club M for Gold members right in the lobby area. They just recently finished a multi-million dollar remodeling of this entire hotel - lobby, restaurants, bars, rooms etc. This is now a top level Marriott and you should be impressed from the moment you step in. A terrific location just across the street from Innsbrook shops and restaurants (great for walking around at night). Also just up street from Innsbrook concert pavilion. Only a few miles from Short Pump Towne center as well so it is in a location right in the middle of all the action in west end Richmond. read more

I like this hotel and choose it whenever I am in Richmond because of the location, the rooms and the service. The rooms are nice sized, updated and very clean. The bathrooms are very nice, but I have been in a couple of rooms with water damage in the shower area. The concierge lounge on the first floor is clean, well stocked and run be very nice people who are very helpful. That's the difference between Virginia and say, NY! The gym is ok, has what I need, but I could see where others might want additional weights or other equipment. The pool is really small, but not something I ever use, so it doesn't make a difference to me. The bar area is ALWAYS hopping when I am there and a couple of times there weren't stools available at the bar. The lounge area is very nice with a lot of seating, but when I travel alone, I like sitting at the bar. read more

Great experience at this location. The front desk interaction was fantastic. Greeted quickly, truly interested in what brought me to the city, made every effort to ensure my stay was going to be a good one. Restaurant and bar in house is quite good. Has a recently updated bourbon bar and features all types of bourbon infused items for those that are hungry as well as local brews on tap for those just looking to wet their whistle. The rooms (mine was a stay well) were recently updated and very very comfortable. A memory goal bed is a welcome change for any road warrior. Location is just adjacent to the interstate (.5 miles) and just on the other side of the interstate from the short pump shopping and dining area. I pr get to stay a little away from those spots as they can get quite crowded and hard to get in and out of regularly. Decent workout area but could use an update on their treadmills and was missing quite a few of the weights. Overall, a great stay. read more

My stay at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump was by far the worst stay I've yet to have at a Marriott property. Myself and a friend of mine booked this hotel as a one night stop on a long road trip. After spending over 10 hours in the car I was told when I arrived while checking in that the 2 queen bed room that I had reserved well in advance was not available, and that my friend and I would have to share a king bed because the hotel was at 97% occupancy. While frustrating and inconvenient, this was not the end of the world and the least of our worries with this place as we would soon find out. After we got checked in and went to the room, I used the bathroom only to discover water started leaking all over the bathroom floor from behind the toilet when I flushed it! The whole bathroom floor soaked and my shoes now wet with toilet water, I immediately called the front desk and requested that we be moved into a new room. They did immediately move us to a new room, which was good, and we finally got to get some sleep. In the morning we noticed that our new room hadn't been cleaned very well and there were no washcloths in the bathroom. After spending 10 hours in the car the day before it sure would've been nice to start the day with a nice shower, but we were so frustrated and ready to get out of there we just packed up and decided to check out. I'm not someone to complain, but since the woman at the front desk asked how my stay was at check out I told her how disappointing it was and all the issues we had. Not having the room I reserved almost a month in advance, the toilet in the first room leaking, the second room having no washcloths. She listened and apologized, and told me the manager would credit me some points to my Marriott Bonvoy account. We checked out 6/25/23 and as of 7/9/23 no points have been credited, no one has reached out to me, and not even an email from the hotel after check out as they normally do, nothing! I have never had a Marriott hotel fall so short of just about every expectation I have, and this was very disappointing and embarrassing for them. read more

Where to start on this property. I travel frequently and this is easily one of the worst hotels I have stayed in not only recently but during my life on the road. I highly encourage you to avoid this place for your own health. I have pictures to back all this up too .... In depth: 1. There is black mold .. MOLD. See the pics but the air vent was covered in black mold. That did not happen overnight but a clear sign of neglect/failure to maintain the property. There was also mold in the bathroom tile and on the shower curtain. I woke up sneezing and coughing. 2. The room is outdated and showing its age. Again, see the pics but wallpaper peeling. As raydo wrote in a separate review this is in all the rooms. It seems management has given up on this property. On that note, the bed was old too and sagging. 3. The room was dirty. Besides the mold, there were some random hairs on the bathroom door (not mine) upon check in. 4. Requests are not honored. Pre-arrival e-mail I requested a mini-fridge and high floor. I got neither. Don't bother sending the e-mail if you won't deliver on it. 5. Internet is $9.95 and slow. Pictures will not load, oh, and they double charged me on it too boot. 6. Air con is an old style and since you can't pick your temperature it was either too hot or too cold. There is no middle ground. 7. They left mini-fridges in the hallway for 24 hours. It was like an obstacle course. 8. They no longer have a spa (hot tub) but they do have a pool. However, the water was cloudy and the pool walls stained. All this combine to make this a truly terrible hotel that I highly encourage you avoid. The mold alone is bad, but literally everything else is too. Don't just take my word for it, see the pictures too. In full disclosure, I mentioned my displeasure on check-out and my room (using points) was refunded plus the GM called to say they cleaned the mold. But as other reviews have pointed out, there seems to be deep rooted issues at this hotel. That's a shame. Hopefully my mold cold goes away too. My stay was in early November on the 3rd floor. I thought the Marriott name stood for something, I guess not. read more

This may not be the fanciest hotel, but because of their awesome service, sensible and clean accommodations, and practical amenities--this place deserves all 5 stars! Unfortunately, their concierge lounge isn't open on weekends, but if you express your desire for breakfast, they will comp you as many breakfast vouchers as you need for their hotel restaurant. The service at their hotel restaurant was exceptional with the staff being super helpful and attentive! There is a nice indoor pool and their 24 hr fitness center is comfortably sized. Overall, great hotel. Would definitely stay here if I were in the area again! read more

*update. The same thing happened with housekeeping missing the room and not having coffee available in the evening in the breakfast area during my last trip. Someone eventually did put coffee in there several hours later because it was there when I stopped by before bed. There was some when the day lady left but the evening shift didn't bother to top it off until at least 5:30. I was able to get some after 7. Now I'm sure the woman i thought had a bad day is just crabby. She snapped again at some of the people and was guarding those liquor bottles with her life in the evening. Not sure why they would put filled bottles of liquor to advertise the bar, but she was snapping at anyone that even walked by them. I wonder if she was drinking some and that made her that way. Because of the angry woman, and skipping my room yet again on two separate visits, I knocked off a star and am only giving 2. Convenient location with ample parking. Not my best experience at a Marriott. The key stopped working twice in one day and the housecleaning skipped my room one day and didn't replace water or toiletries the day before. I also had a dirty glove left on my pillow. The lady in the breakfast area named Cecilia was wonderful. The breakfast was just OK. Came down and there was only cold eggs and bacon in the hot area but she brought me potatoes from another area. Came by at 4:50 and there was no coffee so I left empty handed. Just left at 2115 and the woman was so nasty with everyone. She practically yelled at everyone that went in there. Bad day or whatever, she had no business snapping at everyone who went on there. One guy asked for a room temp water and she told him only what's in the fridge was available... come on. Not everyone drinks cold water... she then asked one group how long they are planning to stay in there. Really? There are too many other options in the area to be treated this way.
