My wife and I have stayed at several bed and breakfasts throughout the years and this place is one of the best. The rooms are really nice and the entire house is beautiful. The grounds, particularly the gardens in the rear are just fantastic, I mean they have swans for crying out loud! How can you top swans?? There were quite a few times I just took leisurely strolls around the gardens to relax, its just that great back there. The staff are all so friendly and nice and they strike a perfect balance between being welcoming and talkative but giving you the sense of privacy that you may like at times. We were here over the course of four days and Flo was the nice lady who managed our stay and ensured that we had everything that we needed. Our room was just like the pictures on their page and they had even laid out welcoming cookies (which were delicious btw!) and some nice bottled water upon our arrival. I must add that the shower in our room was simply awesome, the water pressure was so nice and powerful that it made taking a shower even more enjoyable after a nice long day of sight seeing. We attended breakfast a couple of times when we were there, opting to sleep in one day on our trip and I can tell you the breakfast here is really, really great and you cannot miss it. The first time we had an egg and ham casserole dish which was delicious and fresh fruit. The second time was eggs, bacon and to die for waffles with fresh raspberries in a sauce. The eggs were done scrambled and I have no idea what it is they do to them but they tasted amazing. I am not really much of a waffle fan because not much for sweet type breakfast but I decided to have one just out of courtesy and it was so damned good with the raspberries (and not overly sweet either) that I ended up eating another 1 1/2 until I just couldn't eat anymore. I used to live in Richmond and never even knew this place existed but I do now and the next time we return here we plan to stay once again. Ask for Flo, she will treat you right! P.S. I still think this place looks a lot like Graceland from the front but I think I'm the only one who thinks that, LOL..

I arrived at the Virginia Cliffe Inn and instantly felt like part of the family. This is a small, family owned and operated, beautiful bed and breakfast. Located conveniently just minutes from Richmond, Virginia in the lovely town of Glen Allen, this is a lovely property that allows you to escape the sounds and hustle of the big city. The property has 4 rooms each with bathrooms, tv, and breath taking views of the property, which houses a small lake complete with swans and ducks, a Gazebo for weddings, and well kept grounds for walking or relaxing. In addition, you wake up in your comfortable bed to the smell of a home cooked southern breakfast, prepared with succulent ingredients and a pinch of love by the family matriarch. This is provided each morning at 8:30 when you are seated at the family table. This is truly a hidden gem and a wonderful place. I cannot wait to return and relax and, of course, eat some good home cooking!

We pulled into this amazing estate with multiple buildings all very U of Richmond reminiscent. The room was clean and comfortable. The Tavern was excellent and the food and service delicious and friendly. Who knew this was such a beautiful campus? It felt like a treat!!

There was a good amount of parking and it was so beautiful at night. You check in at the center building and then I was in the building to the right if you are facing the main building. The property is massive and I wasn't sure where it was best to park and I ended up walking a lot but it wasn't bad at all. The building had three lifts that were all spread out and a nice main entry with a large gold chandelier. I was on the third floor. The room was cold when I arrived which was great considering how hot it was outside and it was a larger room for the outstanding price. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I cannot comment on the breakfast or dinner because I did not get the opportunity to stay for breakfast as I had to leave very early and went to dinner before I arrived at the hotel, which was also Easter Sunday. I would gladly stay here again! https://youtube.com/shorts/yIZ_IGcuTGM

When my husband and I arrived the night before to drop off our items, my cousin who rented the hall had not yet arrived. She was still picking up last minute items. The owner and her son were there. The owner introduced herself and said she was leaving but her son whom she introduced would be there. He would be on the other side doing a photo shoot. She said we could go in and drop off the items. We asked if we could stay to wait for my cousin. She agreed. I called my cousin to see how soon she would be arriving. Not long after, my other cousins arrived to set everything up. She asked if I could help by putting the tablecloths on the tables. I started putting the tablecloths on them and noticed how dirty the tables were. I politely asked the owners son if we were responsible for cleaning the tables or were they? I emphasized politely because I didn't want to come across as rude or condescending. After all we needed a place for the next day. He shrugged his shoulders. I then found some cleaning supplies and began cleaning the tables. I couldn't believe how filthy they were and pointed this out to the owner son. To which he replied "well aren't you covering them with tablecloths?" I explained that wasn't the point. I could visibly see that he wasn't pleased with me pointing out the filth. While cleaning the tables I noticed that some of the chair covers were very stained, one had a bright red stain and others were just stained With dirt spots. I showed this to the cousin that was there setting up. My husband joined in with helping clean the tables so I could put the tablecloths on them to speed up things. That's when we both noticed the dirty floors. That included a dead roach and some cake.We had already noticed earlier that the carpet on the platform was filthy. My husband nicely asked for a broom and the owner son stated that he had swepted the floor. My husband pointed out that it was still dirty and showed him the dead bug. The owner son replied with "oh that's just a water bug". My husband said " nobody wants to see a dead bug on the floor when eating". The owner son replied with " we rent all the time and we sweep our floors!" My husband then pointed out the cake on the floor and I said the floor where I was standing had stuff on it as well. To which he replied " we'll keep in mind that you track stuff in upon entering the building and we need to check our energy"! My husband pointed out the fact the we didn't bring cake into the building. I pointed out that my other cousins entered the building at the other end of the room therefire they couldn't track anything down the end where we were standing inside the building. I then replied that " our energy is in check, in fact it was his energy that changed after I pointed out that the tables were filthy earlier". He then continued to say " check your energy, we should be uplifting each other." I replied that "I support my people but I also expect the same excellent service from my people that I would expect from any other race!" He told me again to "check my energy". My husband then reiterated that it was his energy that needed to be checked and pointed out that his demeanor is showing in the way he was sweeping the floor". My cousin who rented the hall arrived. I informed her of the situation and she said "oh that's what his mom was talking about when she called my sister asked her who was there giving her son a hard time." So instead of the owner asking about our concerns she cared more about her grown son feelings. She NEVER once addressed the concerns of the people renting the hall. And her son never completed sweeping. I do not recommend this place at all! If you do be sure that your contract includes cleanliness and maintenance/up keep of the floor that is in desperate need of waxing prior to your event. Parts of the ceiling panels are also in need of repair. You have been forewarned!
