Such a beautiful hotel in the downtown Richmond area. My mom and I are in town for a convention and we stayed here. It was my first time, but she stayed a few times and thoroughly enjoys her experience from the time you set foot on the property you can tell hospitality is a big deal the valet crew races to open your door unload your luggage and promptly assist you with any request definitely a high class experience. We opted for valet because of the convenience and they did not fail, we didn't have to worry about a thing. The front desk staff welcomed us in, gave us the details of our stay, offered meal suggestions, and even gave us two free vouchers for drinks in the hotel. The room was so cozy and nice with a beautiful view. I'm not in Richmond often but this will definitely be a top contender when I am in the area. read more

Booked this hotel as part of our convention package. The rates were very reasonable for a full service hotel. They are located downtown and a nice walking distance to the convention center. Room was cleaned and maintained each day. Yea, the furnishings are dated but they had some minor updates in the bathroom. Room had a fridge and a big safe. The room also had a Keurig coffee machine but we didn't use it because there was free coffee in the lobby and a full service Starbucks. The office building next door is connected to the hotel and the lobby had a couple of fast food places. Hotel also had a tavern and full service restaurant. Parking is somewhat pricey for valet but they are super quick. Staff were extremely friendly. They were super accommodating. Bobby the head engineer made sure we found the free coffee. read more

I had really high hopes for this hotel. Stayed here for a weekend while in Richmond for my cousin's wedding. The original plan was to crash in my parents room since they were staying here too and they had 2 queen size beds . But then I thought about 5 people sharing a bathroom so I decided to just get our own room. We were able to book our own room at the last minute which came out to $750 which came with $100 of credit for breakfast and also came with 1 welcome drink. For the price we paid, I was expecting more. Though the lobby boasted a rich colonial decor, our room was lacking. The carpet looked old and dingy and didn't match the vibe in the downstairs lobby. The bathroom didn't have a fan so it made it steamy from our showers and too hot to even do my hair and make up in there. Oh and our sink was clogged too. I feel like the hotel rooms could use a major update. Though our king size bed was comfy, it was difficult to get a good nights sleep due to the thin walls. We could hear our neighbors going in and out of their rooms and at one point, we heard someone filling up their ice bucket at the ice machine. The ice machine was located 2 doors down from our room. There is a restaurant downstairs near the lobby that was decent. We used our $100 credit for our breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. The shockoe breakfast bowl was delicious--- it came with pork belly, potatoes and 2 eggs. Our second and last day here, we used the remaining breakfast credit and ordered the awake smoothie, espresso and the good morning plate. I really wanted the cappuccino but the machine was broken. fYI, according to our waiter, it had been broken for some time. But luckily there is a Starbucks onsite so we went there after breakfast for our caffeine fix. Overall, the hotel is okay. If you plan to stay here, be prepared to pay and arm and a leg for the bare necessities. You get paper thin walls, clogged bathroom sink, no bathroom vents, a broken cappuccino maker, oh and expensive parking fees. Good luck ! read more

Pleasantly surprised!! Our stay has been nothing short of amazing. We are frequent travelers with 2 under 3 and a baby on the way which in itself can be a little tough some days!! However, the hotel room was immaculately clean, the air drops to 60° a pregnant lady's dream esp when consleeping! The king sized beds are actually large king sized beds, not the smaller ones you usually find at a hotel and you can connect your phone to let the kids watch shows! The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful and conversational. We requested a pack n play for our baby and it showed up immediately which is huge if you forget to request ahead of time. There is a Starbucks and a Chick-fil-A in the same building, a Jimmy John's, Chase and 7/11 close by as well! FOOD: Oh the food!!! Big foodie gal and this food blew my expectations out of the water. Bold statement but best biscuit and gravy I've ever had. Biscuit was a warm, soft pillowy delight and the gravy was buttery and bursting with flavor! The berry jar was beautiful, plentiful and delicious. Coffee is strong! Eggs were cooked to perfection, sausage links are hearty, bacon is thick and pancakes have the perfect bite! 10/10 recommend the crab cake sandwich so much flavor there!! The blt was perfect with thick slices of bread, enough mayo and crispy thick bacon. I really have zero complaints about any part of our stay. Unless only having 3 towel sets could be one then again, we just requested more and no problem! read more

Stayed here for a wedding. Location is pretty good in terms of restaurants and things to do. The room itself was nice, sizable bed and bathroom. Shower was wonderful, unfortunately no body wash included in the amenities. They happened to be doing a pumpkin carving contest when I stayed, which was adorable. Service super nice. I stayed two nights and unfortunately when the cleaning person came around it was a bit early so I had asked them to come back later in the day, which they didn't (not such a big deal as it was two nights, but a little bit of a bummer). Checkout was at noon, which was nice but they aren't kidding about that timeline-guy came to knock at my door at 1159 as I was about to leave. read more

My personal property was stolen from my room at Omni Richmond on September 8, 2025. When I reported it on September 11th, hotel staff member Aaron treated me like a criminal instead of a victim. When I finally was connected to a management staff member, the Loss Prevention Manager, Melanie Bonner, admitted on September 28th that the hotel had "exhausted all they could do" and told me to file a police report with Richmond PD. As of November 10, RPD Detective Miller noted the hotel had not cooperated, essentially blocking the very investigation they told me to pursue. I've now made three calls to Omni corporate since September 26th. My ticket was closed as "resolved" in October despite nothing being resolved. When I called back in December, corporate claimed "no notes" existed despite me providing two separate ticket numbers from previous conversations and tried sending me back to the Richmond property that already said they couldn't help. I've been waiting on call backs for weeks -- both from corporate and Omni Richmond Operations Manager Mark Hirsch. Three months later, my property is still stolen, there's been zero accountability, and I'm pursuing legal action. Your belongings are not safe here, and if theft happens, expect to be treated like the problem while they protect whoever stole from you. Avoid this hotel and this brand entirely! TLDR; This hotel has no functional system for securing guest belongings, won't work with law enforcement when theft occurs, and corporate deliberately stonewalls victims hoping they'll give up. read more

Please note the hotel is very nice and the rooms are comfortable. Great water pressure, beds are comfortable, rooms are roomy. I was trying to extend my stay one night, we were part of a room block. I was told by staff that the hotel was sold out for the night I needed to extend to. The desk staff checked with mgmt. 30 seconds later I booked a room through the website. Was told by staff I would not have a room because the website was wrong. I've never seen someone so unwilling to work with someone. Would I stay here again, absolutely. Our room 1501 has a strong musty smell and my pillow smells bad. The room 1509 has a semi clogged toilet. The water in the toilet goes all the way up and takes a long time to drain. My sister in law called the front desk but they didn't do anything. read more

Pros: location, Starbucks onsite, quick check out, nice shower products. Cons: this hotel needs a major update. What may have been nice in 1994, needs a facelift. Parking is a mess and valet was always a huge chaos spot (pro tip, park in a garage nearby for way cheaper and easier experience). For 38$, you would expect fast service at valet. Upon checking in Friday night, only one person was working front desk. Elevators were all super slow and we realized one was out of commission. We waited 5-10 minutes everytime. Rooms sound proofing was abysmal- we could hear our neighbors til 330 AM. Our AC in our room was cool but kept turning off every 3 hours during the night? Shower curtain had pink and black mold. Windows were super dirty. The left side of the bed had NO plugs or outlets, legit couldn't charge my phone. read more

This hotel obviously is struggling to make it in a tough market. All the staff we met were friendly and pleasant, but overall if you're looking for a modern property with all the expected frills, this isn't it. I thought Omni properties were pretty upscale, based on the beautiful Omni Grove Park Inn in my home town of Asheville, but obviously in the case of Richmond this isn't the case. On the plus side, our room had been redone fairly recently with new carpet and such. The TV had a weird selection of channels, but otherwise it was very nice. Big issues: Downtown Richmond is a ghost town, at least at times the legislature isn't in session. There are huge parking lots and garages with literally just five or six cars in them. The streets are deserted. The few high rise buildings seem mostly empty. Whole streets of stores are boarded up, and those businesses that are open seem to be mostly pawn shops and nail salons. Most of the downtown restaurants recommended by the hotel and the convention center were either closed permanently or open only for lunch. Richmond does have a nice convention center, but what do people who go to conferences and conventions in Richmond actually do after hours? We were there five nights, and it wasn't until the fourth day that anyone came in to clean up our room. We had to keep asking for someone to empty garbage and so forth. Finally, by visiting the front desk we got it done, and the staff was gracious to call and tell us it was done. The Omni really doesn't have a restaurant worthy of the name. There's the Tavern, which is more of a place to grab a beer. There's also the Porch, for a quick breakfast, which is just tables out in the middle of the James complex, across from a bank. You're better off grabbing a coffee and a pastry at the Starbucks in the lobby. Whether true or not, we were told this is the only full-service Starbucks in downtown Richmond. The hotel doesn't really have room service. Oh, you can now call and order a few items, but they're delivered in a takeout plastic box in a paper bag. Little things: In a city that seems to have more big, empty parking garages than any place I've been recently, the Omni charges $35 a night for self parking and $38 a night for valet. Ridiculous! The bathtub and bathroom has no grab bars. Nada. Bottom line: Virginia is a great state with a lot to see, but let me tell you: It's not in downtown Richmond. read more

I can always appreciate a hotel that gives drink vouchers. The Omni offered Starbucks during the day and alcohol at night for those involved in the loyalty program. While I think the Hotel may be a little over priced I can see why people choose this location for venues & weddings. I was just there for a little business so more than what I needed. read more

I will say Christian at the front was AMAZING, but he was the exception to the rule as far as the rest of the staff goes. They Don't service the rooms anymore, I guess because of Covid? I checked in on Thursday and before I checked in I had my money pouch in my glove compartment. It didn't contain a lot of change but it was an expensive change holder. One of my worst hotel experiences! This is my only 1 star review ever. I'm typically pretty easy to please. Here are my main complaints: 1) parking: the hotel does not have free parking. when I arrived, there was no one working at valet parking (this is around 7 PM). When someone finally started working at valet parking maybe 30 minutes later, they recorded my car's color and brand incorrectly. When I brought up this mistake, no one fixed it. They could avoid this problem by just *letting me park myself* 2) check-in/out. When I first checked in (around 7 PM) there was no one at the check-in desk. I had to wait around for someone to come. When they came, they did not give me any information about anything. You can see how empty / understaffed this hotel is in my pictures. 3) water. There is no cold water. There was no cold water in the shower and there was no cold water in the tap. 4) billing. I was staying there on business, with a room that was already paid for. Regardless, at check out the hotel staff said they had to charge my personal card for the room. When I told them that I thought another card was supposed to be charged instead, they said they needed a manager to figure that out, but that there was no manager available. They ultimately charged my personal card, without bothering to call or email me to follow up (they said they would call or email). read more

Let's start with the good: Great location, in walking distance to pretty much anything you'd need or want. It's right across from the tobacco factory which serves delicious food and drinks. The lobby is clean and well kept, staff is friendly and the parking situation is decent. The bad: we arrived late to our 3 o clock check in time and we're told there were no more king rooms left (what we had reserved) due to cleaning staff shortage, and asked if we wanted a double. We declined. We were then asked to wait close to an hour for a room to be cleaned. We were forced to wait in the lobby for close to an hour before I walked up to the counter to ask for a status update. Magically, there was a room available and we were brought upstairs. I wouldn't have minded the waiting, but the fact that no one came over to let us know a room was ready for us, or to offer us a complimentary beverage for our trouble is what ticked me off. The room was ok, internet speed was ok, nothing special to report. The view of the city and river were nice so I'll give them that. We were able to check out late which was convenient. Overall, it's a nice hotel if you're looking for a no frills stay. read more

Another weekend at the Omni Richmond. Sadly upon arrival after the 3pm checking time our room was not ready. The estimated time for the 19th floor room to be available was 6-6:30pm. This was not a last minute reservation, it was made more than 1 month ago. I thought hubby was joking when he told me what time they actually told him at the front desk after us waiting more then 90 min! We were checking in for a Evening event starting at 6pm. Finially after my now angered hubby lodged a complaint to the desk for the 3rd time. We were offered a room on the 11th floor. So be it. It was also just cleaned and slightly smelled of cleaning products, I wondered just WHY couldn't the person that cleaned that room...couldn't of just cleaned the 19th floor room. Which was our request and have stayed there a few times. My angered husband went MIA for a while. When he returns, he mentions that the Valet had immediately taken the car to park....with ALL OUR LUGGAGE still inside. He reminds them, a valet goes to retrieve the car..returning with THE WRONG CAR! I'm going to mention it was a older beat up model of my new car. I see his arms flaling and walk out to kaos, immediately I'm thinking my car is stolen.. so I'm about to lose it also. (EXPLICIT NATURE OMITTED!)The valet returns to their key cabinet and finds the fob. Finially returns with my vehicle. Keep in mind all this actually happens prior to us getting our room key. $27 for frustration with the valet...plus tip. Back to the room. The bed was comfy and sheet soft, good amount of towels offered bathroom room was clean and dust free otherwise I'd just post 2 stars. Bathroom floor was nicely clean. I often wonder how often to they vacuum or shampoo carpets in hotels. We readied ourselves for our event. The evening went great celebrating my bestie bday party in the Magnolia room. The wait staff were great. Honestly the plates were shocking small portions. Salmon or chicken with a well formed portion of mashed under seasoned potatoes with either just 3 pieces of carrots or grilled asparagus. The plates pretty much not dinner portions for adults. The salmon portions were 4 x 4 cm as well as the grilled chicken breast. Conversation at our table of 8 was where can we order food from when we the party ends at 10pm. Some partygoers enjoyed the cash bar with the very friendly bartenders. Their restaurant Trivoli offers a great breakfast buffet. I enjoy the small club room with just the hubby on other visits. This may be our last stay at the Omni. Due to all the unnecessary nonsense they put us thru. read more

Do not visit this hotel if you believe that pets are family. We love our dogs and they are ohana to ue- nobody gets left behind. The Omni claims to be dog-friendly but I promise you, they are not. At one point walking our dogs aross the lobby we were told we needed to "pick them up." We have two pups under 14 pounds each. Easy enough for us but obviously not for my pet-sitting clients with sweet Pittie-mixies and Cane Corsos ranging from 45 to 115 pounds. Let me not bury the lead, however. One of our pups (10 pounds and 2 years old) barks when we leave. He is a very sweet guy and we've been working on his socialization post-pandemic. We took him on two nice long enriching, full-of-sniffs walks today. We played fetch in-room with his favorite toy. We gave him calming treats that have worked to calm him in the past. And then we left the room and went to a show that did not allow phones or other recording devices. We returned to a room empty of puppies with this sign on our indoor closet door- not even posted to the outside door. The employees were forced to enforce this policy and put two 10 and 14 pound dogs into a kennel fit for one 10 pound dog. This was not safe for the employees (who would never be expected to intercede in this way at their own risk) and was not safe nor humane treatment for the dogs, both of whom were rescues! Just imagine- and pardon the anthropomorphism- that you are bred to bark when concerned about your home or you sense intruders. Then you continue to bark- as you were bred by humans to do- when your humans are gone. Then later, stranger humans come and take you away from your home (room) you've known for two days and away from all smells of the humans you've known as home for 4 years. And all in a hotel that calls itself "pet-friendly," where one dog was barking at 9:30pm on a Thursday, and complaints were lodged in said "pet-friendly" hotel. Save yourself the heartbreak of finding an empty room and look somewhere else for lodging - even if you are without your furamily on this visit. This was a hotel that I stayed at during a work conference. The location was really nice. I was able to to find a nice walking path next to a canal, the scenery was really nice. Lots of places to grab a quick bit to eat, or some upscale places too. When I arrived I was treated promptly by the staff and with smiles! The concierge doesn't disappoint, always there to open the door for you. The room was very nice and updated with lots of light. Inside the room there was a fridge, safe, iron and intoning board. No microwave inside my room, I had a king size bedroom room. The bed was not very comfortable which was a little disappointing. If you make it out that way be sure to check our downtown and the canal. read more

I often come for events, so I cannot speak to the Omni as a hotel stay. The venue is beautiful for events! I've only been in the ballroom for events, for both weddings and large luncheons. So there's the ability to pack the room with tables, or have a dance floor in the middle. The wait staff is always attentive and courteous. I must say though the food is always just regular to me. Not bad, but nothing out of the ordinary. I do however love their rolls!! read more

I'm docking a couple of stars off because my brother left his phone charger plugged in, behind the little table next to the bed. He realized this a couple hours after we checked out, and called promptly. To make a long story short, the charger could not be found. Totally my brother's fault (rookie mistake, and he's no travel rookie, but it happens), but the fact it was not found by the hotel is disappointing to say the least. Other than that, very nice hotel in a great, walkable, location. We arrived by Megabus and left on Amtrack. We walked from/to both places, and many more. So much to do in this city. And so historic. This is the third time I've stayed here, the first two times were great, this time was thoroughly disappointing. Upon arrival, the room stank of cigarettes (which I understand is not the hotels fault, but that of the previous guests, but spray does nothing to improve the air quality of the room), the toilet didn't work upon arrival but to their credit it was fixed promptly, much more worryingly, our mattress had massive stain under the sheets. What really left a lasting negative impression was that the hotel tried to charge me twice for our stay. The front of house person was rude and dismissive until they stopped to listen to what was happening with the double transaction. After spending 5 minutes interrupting me and condescendingly trying to get me to "understand" what was happening to me (which didn't apply to my situation), he turned his back to walk away and get his manager. I had to say I wasn't stupid and understood what he was saying applied in normal circumstances but that my issue was different. He listened to me for 30 seconds and immediately realized he DID need the manager because my issue was, IN FACT, different and needed a managerial resolution. To their credit, they reached out to the front of house manager for the help I needed (which hopefully resolves the issue) but to be treated so poorly is extremely disappointing since I've been going to the Omni for years based on their reputation for service. A nice hotel in a great area. Parking is $35/daily. The staff are very friendly, specifically Brandon bartender at the Tavern. Wonderful personality and excellent overall. The rooms are typical, nice and clean. Elevators worked well. Fireplace is a nice touch. Other than catching a breakfast at the Tavern, not much to eat in the AM. Dinner was upscale bar food which works for the area as there are MANY places to eat and do things in downtown Richmond. We were very surprised as we came to the area to meet and spend time with a son in the army at the base not knowing much about the city but would very much come back as a destination to the quaint shops and activities where a scooter ride anywhere you want to go. read more

This is a lovely and very large hotel inside. They have several restaurants a bank and a few other business inside the hotel. We came for my husband's conference. I saw the conference rooms and experienced their catering service. The conference room were nice. The catering service was good. The catering staff was great. The food was ok. They served steak in a shallot sauce with polenta and green bean. It was a cheap cut of steak but it was cooked well. It wasn't seasoned the best but is the best thing on the plate. The sauce was terrible. The green bean were good but poorly seasoned. The polenta was awful. I love polenta. This was just bad. For dessert, they served apple pie. Their apple pie was good. It would have been amazing a la mode. But they didn't serve it with ice cream. We stayed on the 11th floor. This was supposed to be the allergy free floor: no feathers, no animals, etc. It wasn't. There were three dogs on the floor. As a result, our allergies were terrible. The dogs barked all night too. The rooms aren't quite either. We could hear the squeaky elevator opening and closing all night. As well as drunk jerks loudly loitering in the hallway. I asked them to keep it down as we were sleeping. One group was apologetic the second group was rude. The room was very small. It wasn't anything spectacular especially compared to the other hotels we stay at. I was disappointed it didn't have a vanity. I rely on that to get ready for the evening events and parties we go to. The hotels we stay at have them. I couldn't even make it out of the desk and chair because there wasn't an outlet. The bathroom was small as well. read more

A great place to stay! I arrived late in the evening after a looooonnnggg day of travel. The young lady at the front desk quickly and efficiently checked me in and explained everything I needed (wi-fi, local eateries still open, restaurant hours, etc.) before I could pass out on the lobby floor. I decided against wandering the area for food and headed up to my room. Upon opening the curtains to my room, I saw that I had a beautiful view of Richmond at night. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was utterly heavenly. The bathroom was lovely, with plenty of space. I loved the toiletries available (Nest, with a tangerine scent). The only downfall of the bathroom was the tub/shower. The height of the tub made it difficult to get in, and the shower did not drain well. I ended up with a mini bath each time I showered. I tried the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Quick and pleasant service. The food (omelet, potatoes, and fruit) was good but the potatoes were pretty salty. Coffee a little weak (I should have listened to my inner coffee voice to stop at the Sbux in the lobby... ugh, caffeine withdrawal headache!). Housekeeping does not visit every day, but this is pretty standard post-Covid. I'm OK with not having someone in my room every day. Towels can be exchanged if you need that luxury. I loved the location of this hotel. It was within walking distance of the train station, many walking trails by the river, the capitol building and its environs, and a plethora of restaurants to explore. Came down to go to dinner at about 6 and my car was exactly where I left it with the driver side window wide open. I left it right we're you pull in for the valet, next to the main road. Anybody walking by could have put their had right in and grabbed stuff. A valet tag was hanging from the rear view window so someone had definitely been inside. I couldn't find any valets so I went to the check in receptionist to let her know I wanted to self park my car. She couldn't have cared less and was completely unconcerned. I finally found a valet and got my keys. I asked him why the car was in the same spot and he responded "None of us know how to drive stick." Isn't that on the valet job application? 1) Do you have a driver's license? 2) Can you drive stick? Oh man. He never said anything about the window they left open. Other than that, everything was fine. Great location. I guess it could have been worse like that episode of Seinfeld with the valet that stunk up Jerry's car and he couldn't get the smell out. My car smells fine. The valets smell fine (although I didn't specifically sniff each of them) and I didn't notice any particular valet odor in the car. My advice: Self park across the street and avoid amateur hour. It's cheaper too. read more

Great location, dirty poorly maintained rooms. Upon checking in our sink had standing water, debris and human hair. The stopper was broken & just left there? Our remote control didn't work & there were mystery stains on the pillows. Don't waste your time and money on this place. Kinda a shame as Omni is usually a reliable brand but not this one. read more

Very pretty hotel. Valet parking service horrible. The guy running it stood there texting on his phone for a good 4 minutes ignoring me parked right in front of his face. I left and parked in garage across the street. Coffee machine and safe both did not work in the room. Room very clean. Tavern downstairs had the best burger, fries and cocktails! We stayed one night in this amazing hotel! Everything was great from check in to check out. We first called to see if they offered valet & the person that answered the phone was very friendly. Once we entered the lobby we were greeted. The front desk staff Ms. Chaunnette was amazing. She was fast, efficient, friendly & very knowledgeable of the area. She gave us recommendations of where to eat & have a cocktail. The building is pretty & well kept. The room was great clean & nice windows. The bedding was amazing. I had avoided staying here for about a year, opting instead for just about every other well rated hotel in the area. I've stayed at The Westin, The Jefferson, and the Berkley Hotel before finally giving the Omni a chance. I can't remember exactly what my initial hesitation was but after my initial stay, this has become the hotel I stay at most consistently when I visit Richmond. There are always great deals for rooms here so pricing is always within a reasonable range, the front desk staff is oh-so-nice and the rooms are clean and quiet. Room service is limited to breakfast selections that you can hang on your door the night before, but there's a nice restaurant downstairs that you can check out during more traditional hours. If you're banking for a room with a view, keep in mind that the views are not that spectacular. Yes, this might all be relative, but if you're pinching pennies and are using that as a factor, you may not want to weigh that too heavily. Parking is not free, but there is valet and the overnight is only $20 (which compared to lots of other hotels I've stayed at is pretty reasonable.) Also, there are so many walkable businesses nearby, that if the Starbucks, Pecan Jacks and restaurant within the building are not enough for you, a quick stroll will provide you access to a bunch of great restaurants, bars and cafes. Plus, you can hop back on the highway with ease from this location! Also, this is a pet friendly hotel! Last I checked there was a $50 pet stay fee for animals under 25lbs. read more

We "won" this hotel via a bid for $75 at 3:00 on the day we wanted it. (Friday night). We arrived around 6:30 only to discover a big holiday mess as far as Cary Street was concerned. (apparently an Illumination of some type was taking place). Took awhile to GET to the Omni. (note to self: stop at rest stop just in case!). Needless to say we were so glad to actually arrive that we happily handed over our car to the valet without even asking "how much?". Check-in was friendly and fast. Note: being an Omni member didn't help here due to booking through a 3rd party, although she was kind enough to let us have free wi-fi. Our room on the 8th floor was quite comfortable. Husband was especially appreciative of the great shower! Only teeny negative was a slightly musty smell. Public areas were quite nice as well. Warmly decorated for the holidays, and the bar was relaxing with good service. Having stayed here before several years ago, we once again found this hotel to be a great place to stay in downtown Richmond! Love that there are good restaurants within walking distance, plus a really cool book store! And the valet price that we didn't even ask about? Turned out to be just $20. Not bad! (especially considering what that same service cost us the next night two hours up the road in DC). read more

Quite a decent hotel. We booked through booking.com $459 for a Deluxe Double Room with 2 Double Beds. Arrived at the hotel, requested to change to a Deluxe King Room - charged the same price with no fee charge. Check-in was hassle-free. Location was great. Staff were really polite and friendly. Bedroom is as expected. Soft bed linen. Thermostat was clearly not working - didn't keep the temperature of the room cool as we would have liked. It said 64 but felt like 72. Another issue are bedside lamps need to be more accessible - other hotels have a switch within reach. Disliked getting up again after being comfortable. Lamps are dimmable - kudos. A few things I am disappointed by during our stay (which will definitely make us choose a different hotel next time), WiFi is NOT free. Comes free if you are some member. Membership helps if you frequent the hotel. Free WiFi at the hotel lobby. $9ish for 15mb, I think. We bought that 3 times. Secondly, restaurant bar needs a new look. Felt like eating inside a cave, too low ceilings. Pretty packed on July 4th evening - staff weren't prepared for many guests preferring to stay the night rather than go out and see the fireworks since it had been raining. Only saw one bartender, one server and what possibly looked like the restaurant manager helping out. Plus, computer system was down so ordering food was delayed. We could've ordered more but felt we could just pass for that evening since it was too busy. Thirdly, parking! Usually parking is complimentary in hotels. I can't believe it was $25 a day. So that's $75 for the stay. Lastly, walls to the room were not sound-proof. During the day when housekeeping are in the next room, I can basically hear their conversations. At night, I had to whisper afraid to disturb guests. There also had been some people smoking inside - maybe CBD (dunno the laws in VA) but it did leave a stench in the corridor and noticed a hotel staff trying to figure out where it was coming from. We brought our two bicycles with us and receptionist said we can take them into our room. So we did that. We walked the bikes with us to the lifts from the Wells Fargo side since it accessed the parking area. We did that just about every day during our 4-day stay. Then on the last day, the security guard stopped us and said we can't go through the shared bank and hotel lobby with our bikes (walking the bikes. We are not cycling it indoors). We said we've been doing that for the last 3 days and weren't questioned until our last day. Funny enough we were checking out already so he just let us through. We also booked to use the shuttle to go to Alewife from the hotel. We didn't really plan on doing so because we preferred to Uber it instead. But on recommendation of a hotel staff, we obliged. Time was critical and needed to be there in 25 minutes - probably a 15-minute drive from the hotel. So we waited 15 minutes for the shuttle who was radioed in advance about us waiting and needing to go to Alewife. Driver didn't respond until 2 minutes of arriving to the hotel only to say he can't due to a prior engagement. So we had 10 minutes left and booked an Uber - something that we planned on doing in the beginning. So our time was just wasted and of course added stress to what was supposed to be a relaxing night. We wanted to use the pool, but since there was a bad thunderstorm that night, it was closed for safety reasons. People who were already there and some about to jump in were asked to leave. We tried to call reception or front desk - used all the buttons on the phone - concierge etc. Got through only once asking us to hold but then hung up. No callback from them either. Attempted several times but no one answered. Husband said he stayed at this hotel 10 years ago and it was so much better then. He noticed a decline in the service. Could be the interior design almost like a cigar lounge type style. Dark, brown and beige. Lobby and restaurant need a design overhaul. Bedrooms are fine. Wanted to love this hotel as it was my first Omni Hotel. Hope other Omni Hotels won't disappoint. At least provide complimentary WiFi perhaps or include the $10 fee to the price of the room on booking - least we can think it's free. So total of $564 - includes Hotel WiFi and Parking. read more
