This place is absolutely beautiful. My kids had a "Toddler, Roll and Rumble" birthday party here a few months ago and it was a big hit. The contact person wasn't very helpful. She insisted that we ordered our party food from Bread Garden and told us that we couldn't see the place without her. Problem was, it was hard to coordinate with her schedule. We decided to drop-in to see if we could take a look by ourselves, and luckily for us, the contact person wasn't working, so another staff took us up to see the party area. We also asked about the food and she told us that we only had to order from Bread Garden if we wanted to serve sandwiches and stuff. So, in the end, we didn't have to order from them cuz we wanted to serve asian food. The party itself was great. The team lead who entertained the kids was awesome and did an excellent job. Happy to see the Oval improve on the variety of sports facilities, especially they now offer Gracie Brazilian Jijitsu! Evan the black belt instructor is personable and easy to understand. I can now devote more time to learning this new art and not have to travel out to Vancouver! The only thing is that it would be nice to see more friendly staff at the front desk of the Oval. read more

Locker rooms are clean + free lockers which is great. I love how YYoga is now located here as well. It can get pretty busy here, so I so recommend to go during "odd" hours just to avoid the crowd. Staffs are also very friendly and helpful! read more

Great building with decent parking (both paid and street). Good to see tax dollars at work in a good way. Play volleyball through Urban Rec and it is a good facility for that. read more

Absolubtely LOVE it, especially now that you can play badminton there and they are open til 11pm weekdays! I love their machines there, as you can plug in your earphones and selection your channel on all their machines, I don't feel like I am wasting time when I work out now =) read more

I used to come here for the gym because the equipment and facility was awesome. The sports facility was a wonderful bonus. I stopped after a few months because of personal reasons. Recently, I went back with GF in hopes of working out again. At $100/month for 2 membership, it was a pretty decent value. However, with the new $150 cancellation fee, it has forced us to consider the one-month membership instead which was $125/month for 2 memberships. Because of that cancellation policy, they have lost me as a customer but it is still a wonderful place for people that wants to consider a gym for 2+ years. read more

I mean the facilities there are really good and the coach for the classes are professional. But the staffs there are really not professional. It is my very first time to oval. The staff asked me how often I will go there, I said I am not sure after this month I will still go there. And I asked how about the parking fee? she said " EVERYONE NEEDS TO PAY" so I didn't get any information about long-term membership which is free parking, free cancelation. I was told by my friends this. I am not the one cannot pay the parking and 20 dollars more for a short-term membership. But I have the right to know all the options. And they still called me and said it was all my fault that I didn't read the agreement and signed it. I mean WTF. well....I don't have anything to say any more. THE HIGH PRICE THE BAD SERVICE. i feel like the only person who isn't a fan of this place, lol. i don't think it's a particularly nice place to be. it can be challenging to get to if you're new to the area, and staff i've encountered are absolutely no help whatsoever. i asked one woman where to get a pass for an event i was shooting and she stared at me like i was an alien. you're at the front desk, you should know these things or be able to find out if need be. i've been here a few times (mostly for photography reasons) but i usually feel very uncomfortable in there. when it first opened i thought of working out there, but i really couldn't afford it. it's a huge money grab, i feel. if i wanted too, i could easily go play basketball at a school for free. something about this place doesn't sit well with me. read more

this building is beautiful because it's build by the government with tax payers money, but is not for everyone to use, you have to be rich to use this gym because the fees are outrageous. It's a profit driven gym and it is very unfortunate. Not only that, the staffs can be hard to deal with. my story, when I was a member before, they promised that there would always be an open basketball court for members to use, but happens that one day, I invited 6 friends of mine who drove from North Vancouver to play basketball on a Saturday afternoon, after paying $20 of drop in each, they were kicked out with in 15 mins. They said that they had made a mistake and double book the court for private use. They didn't offer any refund and told us we were welcome to use other equiptments at the Oval. We came here for basketball, not to work out or rock climb. I had to argue with the staff and a security guard for 30 min before they decided to offer a refund for 6 of my friends, but the nightmare didn't stop here, the security offered me that they will make up for their mistake and ask for my badge to offer me an incentive on my next visit. you would never guess what happen the next day when I visit. they put me on a black list, a probation for 2 months. I was angry, and I had to argue about it again. they said there isn't anything they will do. I ask for a termination of my membership instead. They then said, I would have to pay for a month of fees as penalty..... I didn't go back after that day ever. the staff was unreasonable, and they only protect their own people if there is a confrontation with their customers. garbage. read more

well... I didnt like their gym at all.... feel it doesnt look like a real gym some how.... I went for cycling class in there.... somehow maybe the mic was loud enough... couldnt hear their instructions.. also.... whe you done you need to put your bike back.... I didnt like thqt idea.. read more

Don't join this gym. I wanted to join the gym for 6 months only and was told there would be no cancellation fee if I stayed at least 6 months. One month after I joined they "changed" their policy and decided to charge $150 to cancel. They would not honour what they told me. Go elsewhere where people are honest. read more

I have only been here one time for a birthday party, but it was really fun! We did batminton. I thought it was really cool, so for my coming up birthday, I will be having a soccer birthday party there! Also, there are alot of activities there, so I could do whatever I want. Overpriced membership. Big hardwood floor basketball courts, and ice rink, but needs a swimming pool.

I love this place. I mean I LOVE this place. I can not think of one thing that is missing from this fitness facility. They have every kind of top of the line equipment brand you can think of and they have tons of space for it all too. No cramped quarters and very nicely air conditioned. You can seriously do almost any kind of workout here and you can watch soccer and basketball and gymnastics going on down below for entertainment. It's really an amazing place. Lots of lockers and you can ice skate too! Very clean and staff are very helpful. read more

Initially my work schedule fit my fitness classes schedule, so I signed up for a monthly continuous membership. But now it doesn't fit and I'm stuck with it for two years. They don't have enough of the classes I want, and when I told them that they said I can leave comments in the box so I did but nothing happened. One day I even met the lady in charge of managing fitness classes and told her I would like to see more zumba and yoga classes but she said "I know but, the instructors don't always have time." The management is poor and the admin people caused me lots of problems. From day one, I was not told I had to pick up a white card and give it to the instructor - so I didn't - and I showed up to class without one and the instructor got upset and assumed I was trying to sneak a freebie! After that all kinds of things happened, I couldn't register for the classes because the system was down (you have to register 3 hrs before you attend any fitness class now!) then you can call in front desk and register but many times they registered me for the wrong class, some of the front desk people are nicer and some are meaner. It took the 4th front-desk person to tell me that I couldn't register for fitness classes with my one-month membership during my first month before I changed to a monthly continuous membership. My biggest problem now is still not being able to attend the classes I want! because the times don't match my schedule and they won't ever change! And why am I still here? (Besides the fact that you have to pay $150 in the first year and $75 in the second year as penalty to drop out of membership) I can't find another place in Richmond that is any better!! They try to Monopolize but I think they still lose money big time - how pathetic are these government funded sectors gonna get?! BC needs to wake up and make some Major Changes!! read more
