Fantastic group of humans. Always quick to care for my (and now my teenager's) aging car. Repairs are reasonable. Maintenance is careful and they almost always give me a heads up when things are coming up so I can better budget. The waiting room is comfortable and the bathroom is clean. I had my vehicle in for my brakes,they replaced 4 rotors pads and rear calipers. After six weeks the rear calipers started to show signs of heavy rust. I had wrote a review giving them 2 stars for using what I would call cheap replacement calipers. Found this place after going two other places to get my oil changed and I am so glad the other two places couldn't see me. I was blown away by the high quality, professional service I received here. There was no wait when I arrived and they pulled my car to the back right away. They did the oil change quickly and before they were done they came to let me know the results of the inspection, they let me know what needed to be replaced and did not pressure me to make any replacements right then. They did offer to give me quotes on the tires that I needed to get replaced but again I did not feel pressured to purchase them after giving me the quote. Met the owner one night while out for dinner and learned he had remodeled and reopened the dump that was Chuck's on Richmond. I needed an oil change anyway so I thought I would give them a shot. It is the first place I have gone that explained the differences in the options I had for synthetic oil my truck uses. He also explained the price difference as opposed to sticker shock when I went to pay. The next day I took my wife's car in for an oil change and squeaky brakes. There was an issue with the rear brakes. They didn't try to sell me new brakes on all four wheels, which they really could have and I wouldn't have known the difference. And the price was decent. Once again I found myself in the Fox Valley & the car I use there started making a bad rattling noise-or was it thumping-you know how those noises are hard to explain. Went in to Richmond Street Auto & hoped they could find the problem & it wouldn't be too expensive. One of the techs took the car & returned maybe 10 minutes later with a big smile on his face. He had fixed it. It was ice in the rims of the wheels (wheel rims?). OMG, all he did was squirt some water on it I guess. I live in the desert-how would I know that? A big 5 stars once again because they didn't charge me anything & none of the techs were actually laughing out loud as I drove away. Lots of big smiles, though. Thanks, guys! read more

Not happy as I asked for a oil change and to do a over all check up for winter including air pressure for the tires and to check what was need for the winter. They suggested a tire rotation and I said yes. When I was leaving I noticed the tire warning light was still on. They said that was normal and would go out soon. I drove to Door County and when I got back the light was still on. Went back to the shop and was told it could be the sensor. They checked the air pressure in the tires and each one was off. After the tire rotation I would think they would have checked the air pressure but it was obvious they didn't. Light is still on. I'm not going back there. read more

I started using Richmond Street Automotive a couple years ago after having unsatisfactory experiences with a couple other places. Service has always been excellent but two instances really stand out. While on my way up north I had a brake caliper hang up just out of town, with smoke coming from the right front. I turned around and drove very slowly back into town and direct to this shop. This was Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm, and Brent got me in immediately, ordered the new caliper and had me back on the road in 40 minutes. Outstanding! The second was recently when I had my old R12 a/c system serviced. They had evacuated the system for me before I replaced several components, and upon returning it was found the system would not hold vacuum even though it had done so at home for days on end. After much investigation, testing their own machine and hoses, it was found the high pressure Schrader valve wouldn't hold vacuum. The fitting and wrench required turned out to be uncommon and it took hours to source the correct parts, install them and charge the system, all for the original quoted price. They really went the extra mile for me and everything works perfectly. read more

Never again I paid for a used vehicle inspection like only leak supposedly related to my vehicle was supposed to be a little leak supposedly from the crimp of a hose related to the trans. They found nothing else at that time but soon as o leave the place. Now all of sudden after bringing my vehicle into Richmond street automotive I have a coolant mixing with my oil let me tell you something if a shop knows you have they will do shot to mess your vehicle to get more money out of you. I just spent $1500 on mh Saturn I brought in but when I bring my charger in well unique car I spent $1300 more including a inspection cost for used vehicle no leakage or problems with my coolant leaking in my oil but 3 weeks after getting my new engine installed I anted you get a inspection to make sure it was installed correctly and here we are now with another problem after bringing it there but no problem of a leakage from the coolant or oil before o brought it. Like watch where you bring your vehicle and don't tell them of why you want in a inspection of car if you every do so because they will exploit that and try and get more money out of you do not put it pass anyone when it comes to there livi hood to make money. I took my Ford Edge in as it was starting to pulsate when braking - they told me they looked at it and I need new rotors and the wheels balanced. I took it to another shop and they told me the rotors are like brand new and the brake pads have at least 3/4 of the life left on them. The rotors were not in need of being replaced. The other shop also stated the wheels must not have even been taken off to look at it as they were locked on tight like they have not been off in quite some time. I was very disappointed and glad I got a second opinion. It was the ABS sensor/fuse. read more
