We've come here for apple picking as well as recently for their fireworks event for the 4th of July celebration. They have many varieties of apples and the views are amazing however the prices are a bit high. We usually take our grandkids and it adds up very quickly. Charging what you need to charge for the apples is one thing but they also charge for the use of bounce houses. I don't know but it comes off a a bit greedy. Anyway, for the 4th of July event, while we appreciate that parking was free and was pretty organized, the quality of fireworks was a bit disappointing especially considering that they had some partnership with the town and it was for the USA's 250th. read more

Such a cool place! They have hard cider tasting, with a cool tasting room and outside seating. You can try as little or as many as you want of their hard cider. Then you drive up to the u-pick apple picking with lots of different apple choices. The views are also amazing, and you can get pumpkins and other fall things. They have a kid zone with a corn maze and fun activities. They even have live music sometimes. Then they have a store front with pies, canned goods, more apples, maple goodies and the best donuts ever! My favorite is the pumpkin donuts! This place is a must in the fall! read more

If you are someone who enjoys farm and orchard style stores, this is a great place to stop. They are situated on Buckfield Road in Turner, ME. Their off street parking is decent size, they have disc golf, a party zone for birthday parties, covered seating and a country-style store. The Store is a country-style decor with your typical farm type toys and merchandise. They have a decent selection of homemade pies, jarred preserves, salsa, chutney, pickles and much more. Many people stop to get their homemade donuts which the apple cider and blueberry are my BIG favorites. Prices I feel are reasonable for an orchard store, but expect to to pay some premium prices on the baked goods. You want quality and grandma's best recipes, it comes at a cost. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you check this place out. IT's worth he stop and bring a bag for all the goodies you plan to take with you. Amazing orchard and overall experience. Not only is there miles of different apples to pick from they offer so many cool features like the pumpkin patch, apple cider brewery on premises. They have a huge fun section for children to play with a petting farm, corn maze, playgrounds and a giftshop with fresh cooked donuts, produce like corn, squash and pumpkins and toys galore. The orchards overlook the gorgeous colorful fall foliage covered hills. Every apple was so delicious and the prices were very affordable. There are so many photo ops here. We didn't get to enjoy the cider on property in a flight like they offer but we got a bunch to-go to try at home and made our own flight. The bartender was incredible and suggested pairings and the order of how we should try the cider at home. We got all their classics and the Pumpkin Cider (My favorite). The maple and blueberry really do taste like pancakes when mixed together as the bartender suggested. Mmmm. The children's section, petting zoo and corn maze do have a entry cost for ages two and older but the prices are fair. I highly suggest getting some donuts to-go. They are so beyond delicious. Especially the apple cider and pumpkin donuts. Overall incredible experience. I would be here all the time if I lived in Maine. read more

I like hard cider - any kind, really, but I like Ricker Hill's because (the non-flavored stuff) it isn't cloyingly sweet. It's also not super carbonated (actually, it reminds me of stuff I've had on draught in England). They experiment with some pretty cool flavors too: while the Mainiac Gold is their flagship product, they also have unique options like jalapeño (not my fave), apple pie (my absolute fave), maple, tropical vacation (it's coconutty!), a hopped honey option, etc. I'll echo what others have said: get a flight. They do them in 4, 6, and 8 and there's plenty to choose from - ask for additional cups, get creative, and mix and match your flavors. Half blueberry cider, half vanilla cider? It's the adult beverage version of our state's official dessert - you're welcome. The tasting room has an old country store feeling to it, and when the weather is nicer you can sit outside. There's also complimentary popcorn. And the people who work here are friendly, genuine, down-to-earth Mainers. I haven't done the PYO stuff, Maine Maple Sunday, or the Fourth of July Celebration here but I've heard great things about all of 'em if you're local and looking for something to do! read more

The store was super cute. They have a bakery inside but we weren't hungry. I should've bought some of their cranberries! The disc golf course was a beautiful walk. My boyfriend said the course was short & easy, great for beginners. Then we walked over to the hard cider. The walk over was short and you go through an area that looks like a lot of fun for kids. They had a petting zoo and I believe a small mini golf.The cider was decent has something for everyone - sweet, dry, and semi-dry! They even have ice cider and a wine to taste. You can do tasting in 4, 6 or 8 tastings. The area outside was cute. All in all it was a fun trip for my bf, pup and I. It's dog-friendly by the way but no dogs inside the tasting house and I'm sure not in the store. read more

Delicious apples and apple cider. My friend tried the apple cider doughnut with maple soft serve - she said to die for!! We also had the hard cider. I loved the Mac but want to try all the flavors. I should have gotten a flight. The orchard side has a lot of family friendly outdoor activities besides the apples, produce, etc. This would be a great place to take the family, go for a date or out with friends. At first I as going to give this place a 3* review as we pulled up to their stand and thinking this was the entire place.. the Apple cider donuts were good, kids loved them but not mind blowing. The disc golf looked nice and they had lots of kids playing areas.. but we didn't see the Apple picking and was disappointed.. we asked inside and told us to go up the hill. While driving up the hill, they have another kids playing area and a wonderful looking cider tasting area (was packed by 11am). Drove up the hill to the orchard and they have some beautiful views while driving. We got to the orchard, and it was very very nice. The rows are all labeled with the type of Apple.. plenty of parking, which was filling up fast. So many apples and a wonderful experience. If you're looking for a pick your own apples in central Maine, this is the place to go!!! read more

Maine Maple Sunday! Every year I try to get out to one of the local events, and this year it was Ricker Hill. The crowd was way too long for us to want to wait for breakfast, but the smells coming out of that tent were heavenly! We watched some sap boil a bit, and listened to a very friendly, very engaged and engaging staff member describe the process from sap to syrup. And, of course, we had a bit of maple snow. The gift shop was chock full of interesting toys, gifts and food, including lots of freshly made baked goods, some incorporating maple and/or apples. Unfortunately the ice cream machine was empty, and we couldn't wait for more, but we did leave with some maple syrup and cider donuts. On our way back to our car we stopped at the cider tasting room for a flight. It's worth getting a full flight of seven ciders and a wine sample (we didn't spring for the premium flavors - mostly because there were only the two of us, and it was early in the day!). It was really fun to taste each of the flavors, and try to narrow down to our favorites - cans, bottles, flagons and grinders available. This was one of the most fun we've had on a Maple Sunday event, but don't wait til next year! Lots to do, see and taste all year 'round. read more

I just love myself some Ricker Hill Blueberry cider. Having first tasted it in the tap room at Whole Foods in Portland, we made the hour trip north to visit the tasting room and PYO orchard during the apple picking season. The tasting room is fun to visit. You can pick as many or as few ciders to taste as you like - and they have more than you think. Pick up a growler to go (the refills are ridiculous value for money) if you live close enough to keep getting it filled. The PYO orchard is great. We picked the freshest apples which were so tasty. They have regular and organic in all different varietals. We also stopped by the farm store for the fresh (and still warm) donuts (oh do - it's SO worth it). read more

They have a ton of toys for sale for the kids. Apples and cranberries are plentiful. Awesome homemade cider and sparkling cider in cans. Pumpkins are huge. There is a hard cider tasting room across the way with tasting paddles of a huge amount of homemade cider. I forgot to mention the miniature golf course, disc golf course, inflatables, corn maze, old trucks for the kids to play on and so much more. The play area costs $9.50 for kids and well worth it. My son spent hours playing on everything. There is also u pick apples and a sugar shack in Spring. The building itself could be bigger as we were there on a Thursday and it was packed, couldn't imagine a weekend. Great place all around. read more

For someone like me, who only cares about great views, donuts, and alcohol, Ricker Hill is far and away the best apple orchard in Maine. For several reasons... -The actual apple picking is on a hill overlooking an enormous valley. It's essentially out of a postcard and your jaw will drop. There's many varieties of apples, both regular and organic, and prices are reasonable. -The shop (which can get crowded on weekends) has homemade, warm donuts, and they're freaking amazing. The apple cider donut is a top 3 for me in southern Maine. The pumpkin and chocolate are delicious too, and try eating just one. I cut myself off after three. -It would be a great place for families, with many amusements for the kids, including a small petting zoo, corn maze, playground and other attractions. -For the rest of us, the primary reason to visit Ricker Hill is for the hard cider tasting room. It's unquestionably the best in Maine. You've seen a few varieties in stores (Maineiac Gold is readily available), but at the orchard there are a minimum of 14 kinds available. Think pumpkin, blueberry, apple pie etc. They're on the sweeter end compared to the terribly dry Urban Farm (who make all of their products at Rickers), but not too sweet. The tasters are huge and only $1 each. After resisting the temptation to order all 14, I settled on 8, and struggled to finish. I was quite tipsy. There's ample outdoor seating here, and the tasting room is open year round. There's dozens of orchards to pick apples in southern Maine, but when you combine it with delicious donuts, a massive hard cider operation and breathtaking views, this is the easily the best. read more

My family and I always try new orchards for Maine Maple Sundays. We love giving business to local family owned places . We had never tried Ricker Hill Farms and I have to say we WILL NOT be back. We paid $10.00+ for our breakfast this morning. It included incredibly soggy french toast, cold red hot dogs, beans, fake scrambled eggs, crepes with way too much cinnamon, bacon half cooked and NO beverage. When I say soggy french toast...I mean it wouldn't stay on my fork and felt like slime in my mouth. Because of this they kept running out of crepes. Even then I gagged it down because darn it that crepe cost me $10! We litterally paid $10 for eggs and a crepe that I gagged down folks.... Also no included orange juice, no included coffee or water! You'd think they would at least have a water station...That in itself is free! Bleck... Do NOT waste your time folks!!! Now onto the store. I understand it will be packed. The problem is when your packed like sardines. I'm pretty sure there is a fire code. There should be a limited amount of people in at a time. That way you can shop, pay and get out. They had two cash registers. One huge line on one register and what appeared to be an empty register. When asked if the one line were people waiting to be assisted by both registers or the line was for donuts The employees had no idea... SERIOUSLY??? Can we get our act together people? Until you make it easier and more enjoyable for customers I know we won't be back and will be letting others know about our experience. The cider donuts at the bakery are just too yummy! Be sure to drive up the road a short distance and stop by orchard for a visit to the tasting room at the cidery. You will be glad you did! We had tried a bottle Ricker Hill Cranberry Cider purchased from local business and liked it so much we decided to take a drive to the tasting room. We are so glad we did. Ricker Hill has a wide variety of ciders that are unique and of course delicious! All are good, we have our favs. On our first visit, the server suggested we try his fav, a 50/50 mix of cranberry and maple. His suggestion was spot on! The maple smooths out the tart cranberry and the result is perfection with a maple finish. We liked it so much, we served the 50/50 maple/cranberry at Thanksgiving. The blueberry cider is also a favorite in our house...smooth, just a bit different, and fun. All of the ciders can be bought by the bottle with some of the more popular, in larger wine bottles. Best of all the most popular are on draft and you can purchase a refillable flagon. We were pleased to find the maple had recently been put on tap and picked up a flagon on our last visit. In addition, we tried a new cider flavor at the urging of two very nice fellow Ricker Hill customers we met at the tasting room. The vanilla cider our new found cider drinking pals suggested was delicious and is now on draft! Ricker Hill is a regular stop for us now. A great Fall adventure featuring apple picking, pumpkins, scarecrows and corn maze. They serve delicious donuts, apple dumplings and hot apple cider. You can play games and even go through a haunted walk through the corn maze. A wonderful children area for the kiddos to release all their energy. Ricker Hill has it all in the fall. My family stopped here for a Saturday afternoon and enjoyed some hard cider, apple picking and the taste of freshly made donuts. We went directly to the tasting house first and tried all 8 had ciders on tap. We enjoyed the Tropical Vacation, with it's hint of coconut, but I decided to fill my flagon with the old standby, Maniac Mac. This cider has a crisp smooth taste and is perfect for this time of the year. After our tasting, we drove the mile or so up the hill to pick some apples. Most of the delicious fruit wasn't quite ready yet, however we did find an apple called Honey Zesters. These apples were excellent and had a crispy sweet taste and along with the view of the mountains made this just a perfect fall day. My wife professed that these apples are the best ones she has ever had in her life! I will let you know that most of the apples are about 2 weeks away. After picking we headed down to the store for our donuts. Today, I was the only one who grabbed a donut. I decided to have a sugar coated apple cider one and I certainly wasn't dissapointed. This freshly made fall traditional pastry was warm with a delicious apple/cinnamon taste that reminded me of my youthful days at my grandmother's house making fresh donuts. My job was to shake them in a bag full of sugar. What a job to have! Cider, apples, and donuts, plus the company of family made for a special time I will remember for a long time and Ricker Hill was a big part of that. read more
