So many blueberries. Wow! What a great time I had with my family picking blueberries. The blueberries are big and juicy. Perfect peak season right now. The trees were loaded with blueberries. Although my pictures don't do justice, they were full. It was easy to pick a full pint or quart just standing in one spot. After we picked our container full, which they supply the containers. We headed back to the store so we could make our purchases. They do have a lot of wonderful foods inside as well, some candies, and drinks, full homemade pies and maple syrup and so on. Something for everyone. Cashier was very nice. And helpful. It was laid back on a Sunday afternoon. Not a lot of people around. And we actually were the only ones in a whole section. The also do apple picking in the fall. And I bet that's super fun with hay rides and mazes and everything made of apples. read more

We had a great experience here. From the many many selections of apples, the farm animals, the food, the hard cider, the mini shop, it's all great. Lots of friendly staff here as well. We picked some apples which were not a bad price then proceeded to try an flight of their hard ciders. They had lots of interesting flavors and they were delicious. Afterwards we got some donuts and picked up some jars of various goods to take home. Everything here was great and we had a very pleasant experience. It was super busy but we expected that on a Saturday. If you're looking to pick some apples, drink some ciders, and have a great afternoon definitely check this place out. Once upon a time you could go to Wallingfords, take the tractor pick apples, eat fresh apple cider donuts and dumplings at the picnic tables and bring home a pumpkin. Those were the good ole' days. Oh wait, do I sound like my mother? Nowadays they're very commercialized. I give props though - farms have to be creative to create financially sustainable situation and that's what it appears Wallingfords has done. What do I mean by commercialized? * kids barnyard and play areas * Cider tasting room * corn maze * all the fall/winter baked goods * various other foods * random toys/stuff for sale * so much popularity that you're lucky to find parking on the weekend I'm glad this small business has found a way to succeed and now I just make time during the week for my annual donut visit to avoid all the chaos. read more

My family and I LOVE Wallingford's! Their donuts are always delicious, they have an awesome selection of local foods for purchase, and they even have a great selection of toys and gifts. (I keep having to remind myself to come here the next time we are attending a birthday party!) We love that they have animals to visit and a ton of play space for the kids in addition to apple picking and berry picking. It's a great Maine experience if you ask me. Welcoming but also provides a lot of pick-your-own adventure at the same time. This year, for the first time ever, I attended the Nightmare on the Ridge and I have to say... it's INCREDIBLE!! The work that goes into such a production does not go unnoticed. I am not a person that likes horror or to be scared on any typical day but this haunted walked was something that I still enjoyed. We were able to grab and enjoy a cider before setting off into the woods and it was quite the adrenaline rush. All the actors were great as well (even the girl that dropped her phone on the floor, lol.) Highly recommend visiting anytime for an enjoyable experience or during Halloween season for some spooky fun! read more

The first thing you notice is the giant special flag outside their main building advertising their political views. Fine, but it took away slightly from the "fall fun" atmosphere. I came for a few things: a nice corn maze, apple cider donuts, the apple dumplings, a fun time with the puppies, and apples. First thing we did was try the dumplings, which are actually more like personal apple pies. They tasted like how you expect a decent pie to taste. There were many bees fighting for the sugar! Tons and tons and tons of kids everywhere. They had an interesting setup for the kids to play in which was neat, so definitely a good place for the family. Next we went to the maze. Halfway one of the workers said unconfidently that the maze was closed for work. No sign, just a rude kid telling us too bad...? Okay, so we went apple picking. There was a tractor driving people to the other side of the orchard because the front rows were no more, but we decided to walk. I think this was the best orchard we've been to. The apples were decently good, it was quiet and serene, and they had a lot of varieties. We spent probably an hour just walking around and sitting under apple trees, so lovely! And that was mostly it. We got our 6 dozen donuts that were alright, like others have said there is a lot going on here -- tasting room, hot dogs and pizza, which was fine. It felt chaotic but the pumpkins were beautiful and people were decently nice, most looked disaffected and not interested in being there. It was a good day and it does still feel mom and pop-y -- we did everything we wanted and I would probably go again if not just for the apples. Do you have a minus 5? At this farm/orchard on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 my husband and I visited this business. used to live this place, but definitely not anymore. I spent $53+ and what a disappointment. paid $19.99 for a jar of dill pickles that taste really bad. bought 5 Honey Crisp apples for $9+ and they taste nothing like I've had before. Bought "native" peaches and they suck. Bought 6 Apple Cider donuts for $8 and they were just plain donuts with sugar. Loved Wallingford's apple cider donuts. The only thing that I bought that is good is a gallon of apple cider. Since Ricker Hill took over from Wallingford's the quality of stuff has been going down, down, down over the last few years while their prices have gone way up. Now, you have to go outside to even check out and you can no longer watch the donuts being made. They are getting too commercialized and super expensive. Really really bad. read more

Growing up in the area I would anxiously anticipate the fall opening of this fruit house. I'd ride my bike up not one, but two monstrous hills just to snag a whoopie pie or fresh cider donut. Now the fruit house is open year round. During my visit this afternoon I saw signs to pick your own blueberries, so fun! There were also bales of hay for sale which seemed to be an interesting offering. Inside the fruit house is shoppers galore. A large kiddie section of toys and trinkets, cooler full of local apple cider, local spice and tea blends, local libations (cranberry wine, blueberry beer, cider), and let's not forget the fudge, cookies, apple pies, whoopie pies and donuts. Snagging one of each flavor donut (blueberry, chocolate, and plain) I was out the door. Gotta love the mouth feel of that granulated sugar covering each donut. I'll definitely continue to visit on each trip home to Maine. One thing I'd love to see is more organic offerings. read more

Apple Picking is open for the season but really I went to get the hot sugary donuts. This place turns me into a little school girl. I have been busting at the seems to get my hands on these donuts. The cider apple are my favorite but they do have choc and pumpkin. And the apple dumplings are yummy too. Served with vanilla sauce and/or vanilla ice cream. It is expensive for a little dish of pleasure but I love my once a year treat that I just had to get one. As with any apple orchard you can pick and take the wagon ride out to the fields but I love walking around this quaint store. Taffy, honey sticks, jams and jellies, syrup, fudge, fresh veggies, hot cider...need I say more??? Big place with lots to offer! We visited and immediately realized that Ricker Hill Cider had a tasting room outside. Naturally we got a pour and THEN visited Wallingfords. I saw great deals on melon on Facebook and went but quickly learned that what was left of the fruit was less than ideal. I bought 1 melon and no corn, unfortunately. Visiting Wallingford's in the highly anticipated fall season is apparently a big deal in these parts. The place was packed with folks in search of all the flavors and scents of fall - cider, apples, squash, donuts. It really is more than it looks on the surface and is a real draw for families as there is a petting zoo, tractor rides and, I think, a corn maze. The donuts here surpass all expectations and will be included in my future "Maine donut" blog - pumpkin, chocolate, plain, and sugar as well as other wonderful apple pastries like fritters and cobblers. Donut lovers line up in droves in the back of the store and are served by fresh faced teens who are super sweet and efficient. You can watch the donuts being assembled and most likely will be offered ones fresh from the oven. Delish! Views from the hill upon which Wallingford's sits are spectacular. You have to drive a bit off route 4 through some quaint villages. Watch for the signs and you won't get lost. Another plus is the enormous variety of apples you can sample - many I had never tried and you can pick and choose based on the accurate descriptions depending on your eating/baking needs - tart, sweet and all variations in between. The only thing I can think of that detracted from the visit were the schlocky inflatable Halloween characters that dominated the scene. Honestly, they are an eyesore - this place is fine on its own and doesn't need anything else to attract visitors. Other than that, I know that it will be on my list of close-to-home fall destinations next year. read more

Wallingford's is not only my favorite apple picking spot but it also my favorite place to get snacks in the fall. I first found this place because of a groupon for Apple picking a couple years ago and have been hooked ever since. They have a good selection of apples and pumpkins, and they have a play area for families, which I believe you have to pay to enter. The true gem is their donuts and apple dumplings. Their donuts come in plain, blueberry, pumpkin and apple cider. I always make sure to keep a dozen in the freezer to hold me over. The dumplings are dough filled with seasoned apples that you can get with other caramel sauce and/or ice cream. They also have a selection of wines and beer in addition to their various apple products such as cider. There is truly something for everyone. I recommend getting there early because they get busy quick and parking is limited. read more

This place seems to be a wonderful place to bring the kids. However, we weren't treated very courteously, and we would have had a much better experience if we felt more welcomed by the staff. Most of our questions were greeted with sighs, eyerolls and rude tones from the young girls working the day we went. I may be an old fuddy-duddy who was taught differently, but my young adult kids noticed it and commented on it as well. It was pronounced enough that we felt uncomfortable asking more questions about the site. Their gift shop is stocked with all sorts of fun things - toys, specialty foods, freshed baked goods, ice cream, candy and, of course, apples. Unfortunately most of their offerings are priced far above what an average family would be able to pay. The pick your own apples were a good deal, at $1.29 per pound, and the bagged apples were also priced lower than those at local grocery stores, which makes sense at the orchard. And the apples and baked goods we tried were delicious. We visited in mid-October. Our first stop was to say hello to the goats, outside in three pens near the main building. It was fun to interact with them, though if you want to feed them grain you'll have to bring some quarters for the machine (we didn't). They had a lot of farm scraps to eat, but some of them were a little interested in the grass and other items we were able to slip through the narrow slats to feed them. There are also some chickens in a small pen in one of the orchards. Wallingford's was set up for their haunted house, so we didn't get to go inside the barn or walk around more of the grounds, as we didn't want to pay the $5 fee each to walk through the corn maze. We did notice a sandbox and some activities that a few school groups seemed to be enjoying. My adult kids and I were there to pick apples. There are bags around to pick your own, and we headed to the trees, but at the time we visited we were told there were "slim pickings." The person we asked told us about four varities that were ready, but we were only able to find two of them (her directions were less than satisfactory). Perhaps earlier in the season would have been a better time to visit. We will probably return now that we "know the drill," but I'm sorry that our experience was marred by unfriendly, unhelpful and downright rude employees. read more

I've been coming to Wallingford's every year for a while now. I am the last person who should be writing a review for an apple orchard because... I am allergic to apples! But that doesn't stop me from enjoying picking out my pumpkins and mums, getting together with family to eat donuts and take obligatory orchard pics and walking around seeing the trees and everyone enjoying themselves. My family all love the tasting area, and raved about a few of the hard ciders. It's always absolutely crazy when we go, the inside of the store needs to be about 3x as big to be able to enjoy walking around and seeing everything. Half the time you're just saying excuse me to someone and getting bumped by 3 more. My biggest issue (and this is purely personal) is they have never had pumpkin donuts when I've gone! Luckily this year they had chocolate, but I've missed out on many donuts due to them only having cider quite often. read more

I love this place! The blueberry picking is awesome and I made several trips back as the berries were devoured before I made all the baked items I wanted to. The apple selection is great and I enjoyed trying some varieties I haven't had before. I love that they have Golden Delicious. I've lived in VT, upstate NY, and have also visited orchards in Mass. but this is the first orchard I've found that had Golden Delicious. The gift shop is filled with a lot of great items; wonderful baked goods, fresh cider, locally made canned goods, candies/chocolates, very cheap produce, and toys. If you're lucky enough to get one of their apple cider donuts warm and fresh, you'll know what heaven tastes like. Can't wait for them to open for the 2018 season! read more

We love Wallingford's!! Great place for the family to play in the corn maze, and pet baby animals. Always the freshest produce with a huge selection of gorgeous apples! I love the newly rebuilt section after last years fire. It seems like they expanded the hard cider tasting area. Secret tip... on a busy Saturday morning the Apple cider donuts are usually warm but not molten hot and fresh. If you ask for one without sugar they will cook you up your own fresh donut.
