Rick seems like a straight up guy and helped me out of a jam. I'm in the same business as him and if someone took my proposal and used it as a homework assignment, I'd tell them to pound sand if they then asked me to install gear they purchased elsewhere. When you use Rick's to install a system, unbeknownst to you, you have acquired a lifetime commitment from them. When we moved to a condo, they installed 3 big flat screens with a Sonos sound system, including one complex system with components in closed cabinets, and a remote that not only controlled it all, but reached right inside those closed cabinets to communicate. Magic. They consistently offered lower priced choices, and explained when a quality difference led them to recommend a more expensive option. We were confident we had the best quality at the best price - a buyer's dream. Since then, 2014, I've had occasion to call on them 3 times, when we made changes. Each time, as another reviewer stated, "I was treated like royalty." They dealt with my issues quickly and inexpensively, and made it clear they were there for us whenever we needed anything electronic. I was moved to write a review today, because my husband just finished a 30 minute phone conversation with Rick. We called, not realizing they were closed on weekends. Instead of saying that and telling us to call back, Rick asked what the problem was. In thirty minutes he talked John through a fix with the new Frontier cable box and its remote control that gave us back a living room television until Rick's programmer, Brian, was available to come and reprogram the universal remote. We had spent about 2 hours each on the phone with Frontier, who was very helpful, but couldn't figure out why their remote wouldn't work with their new box. Since we were trying to watch a hurricane and the US Open, we were very grateful. My husband asked Rick to please send us a bill for his time, especially since we discovered they were actually closed. Rick laughed and said, Oh no, this was part of their service. OK. So I passed this store on central and decided to go in and get a quote for a system to be installed. Rick seemed very knowledgeable and very helpful. Came down and gave me an estimate, which seemed a little high. I decided to do my own research on the items listed and got the products half of what he quoted me on. I wasn't upset about that, people need to make money. So I bought my products elsewhere and gave him a call back and asked him how much it would cost to install everything. He gave me a quote for the install which seemed pretty reasonable. We set a date for the 31st to get it all done. He also asked me if I would like a remote control that could pass through walls. I asked him how much it was, and he quoted me 700 dollars. I laughed because I got a quote from Best Buy for 310 dollars with a set up. Again wasn't upset about that either. Anyways, I call up on the 31st to ask what time I should be expecting people, and he proceeded to tell me and I quote 'we have been so slammed, I didn't bother to pencil you in'.... Ummmm, you set a date with someone at a certain time, you pencil it in. If you can't make it, call the person back. He really didn't care in the slightest. He just told me I can see if I can come in a week or so.... Haha no freakin way, so you can tell me in a week from now that you forgot to pencil me in. In my humble opinion, find someone else to do the job. There are cheaper and better options than using him. If you are rich and don't mind throwing your money away, be my guest and go with him. Just a super poor way to handle the situation. If you are new to the industry, you have to be competitive with others, not double the price. When you build a reputation, than you can start charging more and telling people you forgot to pencil them in and you are too busy. I am highly pleased with the price, speed of service and communication of this business. I brought my projector TV in to be repaired knowing exactly what the problem was and how it could be fixed and what a fair price was. As this was very intricate work I decided not to take on the project myself but to leave it to the professionals. They charge a $50 up front fee to access what the problem is and then tie that in with the final cost. I got my projector back working perfectly in seven days(over the Christmas holidays) and the price for service was very reasonable. I'm glad that I did some research around the web and came up with this place because they seem very capable of fixing any home theater issue. Thanks a lot guys. read more

Excellent service and expert know-how. Rick's repaired two flat screen TVs for me that had been zapped by a power surge. We've also got them working on vintage stereo equipment for us. We bought a 75" Sony TV tied into Sonos/Octava sound system system last December as our Xmas gift. We met Rick and worked mostly with Steve. Both were excellent! They often recommended options that costs less-more concerned about our experience than $$. This is a hands-on, very competitive electronic boutique store that made this a fun experience and not stressful. Eight months later (we would not write a review on this kind of major undertaking until we knew long term the full experience....same with car, etc), we are thrilled with our decision to go with them. We recently moved to St. Pete and were looking for a TV for our new home. We actually bought a TV from another electronics "Big Box" store. When it came to installation they told us what they could not do, so we returned it and found Rick's. Boy, they really treated us like royalty. Steve sold us a TV and suggested the perfect sound bar. When it came to installation, the installer, Jim, did a stellar job. It was no easy feat to hook us up in this vintage home of ours. But Jim would not give up until it was perfect. I took a Blu ray CD player and tuner in to be repaired.ir would turn on then go off in 10 minutes.The CD player was constantly open and I said don't fix that .Just see if the stereo can be saved .I paid $35.00 and kept calling.Finally they left a message stating they no longer mage Samsung parts for it.I kept leaving messages to see what it needed. They didn't know,but tried to sell me something for $200.00(just because I am a woman took full advantage of me)I went and picked it up the screws were never taken off the back and the CD player was more destroyed do they taped it back on.I would never trust these people after seeing that they did nothing but Jeep my money.CROOKS! read more

I can't comment on Home Theatre here but as far as electronics repair PASS on this joint. Rick charges $35 just to evaluate an electronic device for repair. In my case none of his techs even touched or looked at my device. He collected $35, made NO notes in profile of my request to evaluate. There were NO notes made by the tech who supposedly evaluated my device. The clerk at desk on pickup could not answer any questions. Easy $35 for Rick who only put the device in the back of store until I picked it up. Just like an earlier reviewer wrote. My experience was exactly the same. Took $35, said it's too expensive to repair and made up some ridiculous number. A legitimate company would have had 1. Notes by Rick (who accepted unit) to type in his software tool what owner suspects is problem and 2. Technician would make notes of what they looked at. Further to note the screws on back were NOT touched and still looked pristine new with no scratches on phillips head screws. How many times can I say avoid this merchant. Not honest, not ethical. Rick was a nice guy but other clerk had no clue as to why my unit was there and had NO notes to tell me what was actually broken on unit. Rick takes your $35, puts your device back to collect dust until you pick it up and that's the truth of the matter. I strongly advise to look for another St. Pete electronics repair shop. Will not go back here. $35 to look at a device (which I'd guess many times they do not) is way way too much and greedy. read more
