Some prices are high, but this is a great local shop. There is plenty of parking in the back, and they have a good variety of healthy plants. I had to go to a different shop for a fruit tree I was looking for, but the staff at Rick's was very helpful and I appreciate their insurance policies on the fruit trees they do have. They also have a nice selection inside, of plants, seeds, tools, and they have worms for purchase behind the counter. read more

Love ricks garden center for all my gardening needs! I buy all my trees, plants, mulch, bird bath, etc from them. I want share what I just learned though- if you want to buy shell-less birdseed and shell-less peanuts do not buy them here. We went to buy a 20LB bag of shell-less sunflower seeds and it was $60. You can go to "This Place is For The Birds" another local owned business and buy a 50LB. bag of a shell-less seed, mixed or not, peanuts, etc and it's $80. Ricks Garden Center needs to find a better source for their seed. $3.00/LB is ridiculous. read more

They are here to make money and are rude; they know nothing about their products, and their prices are extremely high. I found this nursery via Instagram and saw a cute post of their mini succulents and had to come to buy one. Someone reached out to me on IG and offered to set some aside for me so I said yes! I drove over to buy just the succulents but ended up buying more because their prices were incredibly affordable so I was happy to bring home more plants and supplies I needed for my garden. The checkout was quick and easy. The cashier clerk helped me with loading as well, which I very much appreciate. If you wish to shop at a nursery especially on a rainy day, go here as almost everything is inside! I plan to come back again soon. read more

I had a very good experience with the owner the first time I went to this shop. That's the reason I came back again. The last 2 visits (and definitely the 3rd) was nothing compared to the 1st visit. Staff will surely make you feel unwelcome. Either they have the attitude "are you done with the questions" or "I have better things to do". Not helpful at all. Interestingly, there's a lot of them around that are not really busy with anything. Finally, I decided to buy plants last week. I got the last 2 spireas (plus a few more plants) they have left after the weekend sale they had. The spireas died after 3 days. I went back to ask what we can do about it. They said none. Maybe a discount. And the guy even had the audacity to say "plants need to be watered". Sure. That was a great tip. I thought all these time they survived on their own. SMH Anyway, not going back to this shop anymore. I came back because of my first experience and because I wanted to support local businesses (thinking they are more personable). Not! I'd rather go to big box stores now coz they have better warranty on their goods. $70 wasted. Lesson learned. Moving on. * other shoppers have great experience. I would not recommend this business. Their customer service is terrible and their return policy inadequate. Without going into a lot of detail, suffice to say that they did nothing to satisfy a long time customer when a problem arose. I won't be going back, there are enough other garden centers around where the service is better. I don't need the aggravation of dealing with a business like this. read more

Oh my gosh. We bought an indoor ficus tree here and as soon as we brought it home realized it was infested with pest millipedes that eat it's roots and has a horrible fungal infection that's spreading through the leaves. The plant was on sale and we asked why and they said it was just a good price... now seems like an unlikely story and that they knew. I am pretty bummed because when I just called they said I'd need my receipt for a refund and they won't necessarily do and exchange. I will update review if they actually handle this properly. Very bummed!! Oh well. I guess I'd recommend a different garden shop for sure to ensure you are buying healthy plants!! read more

First off, let me tell you that I wanted to support a local small business. I usually go to Lowes for my plants and flowers. After I asked for help 3 times at Ricks, a lady helped me find the flowers I was looking for. As I was paying for them, I asked what the return policy was: was told by the cashier it is 30 days with my receipt. Fast forward 2 weeks, 2 of the 3 plants are brown and I pulled them out to return. When I called the store to ask the best place to park (upper lot or lower lot) to return these plants, I was told there is a "No return policy on perennials". I told him that his cashier said there was a 30 day return policy. He said that is only for trees. I let him know that I will buy my plants from Lowes. This is why the large chain stores put the small businesses out of business....it's all about customer service! read more

I like this place a lot. It has been around forever and the facilities are somewhat dated, but the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Obviously well-trained. The nursery is down below and has it's own parking, but there is a ramp to connect them. During the height of the busy season it pays to park below. Wife-unit is still recovering from hip replacements, so I usually drop her off up top and park below, she tends to buy annuals and I perennials, so this works out well. With cell phone technology she lets me know when it is time to pick up her and her plants up top. They seem to buy from the better Colorado growers, a lot of the growers are the smaller ones so some different product is available. We do shop most of the garden centers, but we typically make Rick's the first stop and then check out the others to finish our gardens. read more

Oh, man, I'm sorry. First review, and it's a bad one. I hate to do this to a local business... but still. Rick's has an excellent selection of houseplants, but their staff... ugh. How do you find that perfect tone of voice, so that when you ask "May I help you?" what you're really asking is, "What the hell are you doing in my store?" I don't know how, but they do. I think the sneer helps. My first experience with Rick's involved some bedding plants. My mother had called everywhere looking for "Snow on the Mountain," and was assured they had it at Rick's. I went to pick it up, and they handed me a flat of "Snow in Summer." Not the same plant, but I didn't know, and there wasn't a label, so I took them over to Mom's house and put them in the ground. Unfortunately, that's not all I put in the ground. Those plants contained weeds, lots of them, and the Snow in Summer didn't come back the next year, but the hemlock, or whatever it is, sure did... and then it spread. I have been fighting what has become known as "The Rick's Curse" for five years. In a weak moment, I decided to give Rick's another shot this Spring. I went there with my mother, who will glady spend hours in a garden shop and end up buying several hundred dollars worth of flora. We were there until ten minutes before closing time, at which time the staff turned out the lights on us. I get it, you want us to go home... emptyhanded. The staff is rude, condescending, and in a hurry. There are plenty of other garden shops in town I can go to, without feeling like an imposition. read more

The staff at Rick's seems really pleasant and helpful. Each time I've gone, I get a few different staff members asking if I need help and if I've found what I'm looking for. If they did not have what I was looking for, they knew when and if the item would be arriving in store. Parking and getting in and out of the lot, is a bit of a hassle. Rick's parking lot is situated right on the edge of Uintah and when leaving the lot, you're almost backing right on to Uintah. I've gone to Rick's first thing in the morning and the traffic was not too bad but by the time I left, about 30 minutes later, it was a minor CF getting out of my parking spot. The plants for my garden were purchased at Rick's. So far, they all seem very healthy and look great. It's still pretty early in the season so it'll be a while before the final verdict is handed down. Cost for plants here seemed just a bit more than the other LOCALLY owned places in town I shopped. But out of the other places, I just had a better feeling at Rick's. I really did not look around the store because it's so cramped and packed with stuff so I can't really give a good opinion. Check out was a hassle because there is only room for two people in line. But one of the super nice gentlemen opened up an additional register for a few of us waiting to check out. read more

Rude Rude Rude......went shopping for a pot for a snake plant. I asked one of the ladies in the back what size pot I should transplant it in. She replied 8" pot. I asked her about the root system of the plant and it was obvious she knew nothing about plants. She simply replied to my question with: I don't know. I just know what they tell me to tell you. Go up two sizes on pot size. How about that. She then walked away. Won't go there again! There are plenty of places with knowledgeable employees that are willing to help. read more

Although this store follows the community guidelines. Everyone was wearing a mask. And the store was very clean and nice. Everything was extremely overpriced. I would never recommend someone to buy a plant form them. They're so expensive I'd recommend somewhere else because this Place just wasn't very good. Their smallest plant was $10 and the plants aren't very big but the price point is. Something that should have costed $15-$20 at most costed $60 it just wasn't worth the price. The plants looked healthy and nice. But there's so many other stores that are so much better than this one. read more

For years I've gone to good earth for most of my plants. Have stopped by Ricks this year for early spring needs. Bravo!! I've had great customer service and they have had what I need and then some. Super helpful staff that don't look at you like your a moron when asking a question. I can't seem to shake the rude treatment by the older staff at good earth though the younger staff really are great. I may return for tomato plants but Ricks will be my recommendation to friends this year. Glad they reconfigured the check out area. read more

I don't have any reason to shop there anymore since I no longer have a garden or place to put plants, however, when I did, this was one of my favorite places to buy plants. Their staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I particularly liked to grow herbs and found they carried a wide and interesting variety (don't know if they still do - this has been a couple of years ago - FYI). 5 star experience! I'm a first time gardener- completely clueless, with ambitions of planting my own organic veggies/fruit/herb crops this summer. Since this is my first time ever pulling weeds, sowing, etc. I was super confused and lost at how to do anything related to all things gardening (transplanting, fertilizing, growing, even watering for Christ's sake, smh).. I made multiple trips to various big box stores like lowes and home depot but nobody there could really HELP.. Walked into Rick's and Tyler walked me though every.thing. from potting soil to the containers, fertilizer, organics, transplanting methods, compost. I mean wow. Nice garden center that is much larger than you realize. The front parking seems too small for a garden center and it is! There are two ways to enter the back of the property, pulling right up to larger or bulky items you may purchase. A good selection of ceramic pots and other accessories inside, but a bit pricey. But, if you're looking a certain thing, they may just have it! I wasn't awed over the selection of plants, but this was my first visit and toward the end of the season for annuals. Will check them out again next spring and see how I feel then. Great location! You can buy your groceries, gas, a burger, prescription drugs and your plants all on the same intersection :) read more

I had the most delightful experience shopping at Rick's today. A friendly and helpful woman named Natasha helped me pick out a variety of perennials for a flower bed I'm working on. She helped me pick out various sized plants and draw out a map of where to plant them. Most of the perennials are on sale this time of year-- buy one get one for a lot of them. And all the plants are grown in Colorado. I highly recommend Rick's. Stop next door and get a milkshake and a burger while you're there. read more

Great friendly staff, very organized, and broad selection; although heavily priced. Might just be the going rate here but back in Ohio 1 gallon perennials are $5 (or less), not $10-12. Don't get me started on the hanging baskets, veggies, seed, seeders, feed, feeders, decor, or even top soil for the matter. But hey don't take my word for it see for yourself. Rick's is a very solid garden center with very helpful staff. I have shopped there many times and have never been disappointed. Their selection of drought resistant plants is one of the best in the are. Do note that they have tow different levers not accessible to each other. The entrance off Unitah has smaller plants and a lot of supplies. around the block you can see the vast selection of larger plants and tree. I have also used their lawn food product and I have been very happy with it. read more
