Campground was nice, the trails sucked!! Every site you go on, they say that trails are marked. They are not marked!! My wife and I got lost for a couple hours Didn't know where we were at my wife was terrified. Finally seeing someone and they helped us get out to get back to camp. I will never ever go back there. Girls in office didn't know where our campsite was. Some of them were rude like we were bothering them and wasting their time. I will never ever go back there. Traveled a 1000 miles to get there. 2nd visit to ride Royal Blue. We booked 2 cabin's this time, Lazy Days & Daze Off, 2 adults in each cabin. As soon as we entered the cabin, we initially noticed the smell of an overwhelming air freshener, which I immediately unplugged from the wall, after a few hours it smelled like a dead animal somewhere and also had the smell of propane from the stove, although the stove was not on. We alerted management and had them check it out & then went back on to the trails in hopes it would be remedied when we came back in for the night. When we returned , we still smelled a rotting dead animal smell & propane and noticed someone had plugged the air freshener back into the wall. No call to let us know what the situation was with the smell & no offer to move us to a cleaner non smelling cabin, although the place appeared empty when we were there. Other things we noticed were a broken picnic table seat bench, subpar cooking utensils and pots that the non stick coating was peeling off. For the money paid, I would not reccomend a stay here, nor will we stay here in the future. Maintenance is sub par and not worth it. In a nutshell, they went in and did nothing but plug an over powering air freshener in to try and cover up the issue. read more

We actually stayed a mile down the road at Ridges at Royal Blue campground but came to the main Ride Royal Blue area several times for the general store, wash area, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful and bathrooms and laundry facility were always clean. Trails were well marked and had a variety of skill to choose from. We will be back for sure. read more

The only issue I have with the cabin we rented was the mouse problem. I first noticed droppings that weren't there when we checked in. Then a couple days later we had food items in a plastic tub sitting on the floor with the lid off. They chewed open a package of marshmallows, a package of protein chips and a single package protein cookie. Before making reservations, I'd make sure to ask if they have a handle on it now and for sure, bring a plastic tub with a lid for your food items. read more

Spent five days at the Ridges riding the trails with five of our friends. Sites are big & spacious with full hook-ups. Laundry is free, but only one washer & dryer. Free breakfast on Saturday morning. Wifi worked great for me (Verizon). Would definitely return! read more

We have gone down to ride royal blue several times and stayed in almost all of the cabin types the have and we loved them all! They are always clean and so are the bath houses! No matter what time of the day you go in they are always clean and ready for you to use! The staff is so friendly and helpful and the prices aren't to bad at all. The staff was friendly and helpful. Trails weren't that bad to putt around on. They have individual shower houses which are nice. It was an okay place to camp. They are really expensive and they RV sites are packed in like sardines. By the time you put your awning out your really close to the next RVs slide out. The spots are not really worth the price in my opinion. read more

We stayed at Ride Royal Blue in trailer Redneck 13. The only good thing I can say about it was the air worked good and it had washer and dryer. It says sleeps 12 but we had 9 people and it was miserable. There is 2 small VERY UNCOMFORTABLE old couches in the livingroom. We had to bring our camping chairs inside just so we would have enough seating for 8 adults and 1 child. The bedrooms ONLY have a bed, NO end tables, no tv, NOTHING! You have 1 TV in the livingroom for 12 people. There is also no wifi. We got 8 towels for 9 people and they will only replace them every 3 days. The staff never checked on us not once. They are very rude inside the General Store. Did not give any info on surrounding stores, gas stations, ect. They price gouge you, 5.00 for a bag of ice, 5.00 for a gallon of gas. Our group will NEVER go back! read more

After seeing and reading some of the comments about Royal Blue I had to comment. I'm leaving again to "Ride Royal Blue" Oct 1st 14. and this will be my 5th time and 4th year going. I have ridden lots of trail systems and stayed at most of their camp sites. 1st, lets understand that this is not the "W Hotel" this is a place to ride for days and get dirty, 2nd the folk down there are very friendly enough and down to earth, they're not going to kiss your a$s, and will leave you alone which is a great thing when you're just trying to enjoy the land and ridding, most of us do these trips not to be bothered by people. 3rd. I drive from Indianapolis IN and we have made this our get-a-way for our once a year trip, would be more if I could negotiate the wife better 4th Trail system is AWESOME, just enough fear to get your heart pumping but safe enough to feel confident. This place is by far one of my favorite places to ride, get dirty, wake up and do it over again for the next 4 days. If you're a person that likes a mint on your pillow every night and a wakeup call for morning tea, I would advise you to stay away, if your a type of person that likes the smell of gas, wood burning, atv exhaust, and the fresh air smell of mountains and only relying on yourself to be feed and tucked in at night; this will be the BEST trip ever for you, your friends, and family. They only cater to side by sides. Do not attempt with four wheelers. Trails are scary and dangerous!! It's all mud, rock, and big steep hills. Trails say they are "easy" but they are horrible and hard especially on a four wheeler. Do NOT take children!! Maps are not good and make no sense!! Not recommended! read more

No atv rentals on site. No game room. Nothing in store. Trail blocked by tree for three days asked multiple people and times to have fixed..finally on of the campers had a chain saw and removed it. Terrible customer service they do nothing to help or correct their mistakes. Not worth the money! read more

Offers endless trails with multiple levels of difficulty. The kids had fun, but easier access required going down the street to an alternate trail head. The trail directly from the campground was too difficult for novice riders, especially kids on dirt bikes. The Redneck Retreat cabin offered the necessities, but don't expect a lot of space inside or outside since the cabins are located tightly together. Dominated mostly by side-by-sides, we still had fun on our ATVs and dirt bikes. read more

I've got to agree with some of the reviewers, my wife and daughter and several extended family members have came here five times over the last year, my wife and I actually came alone in September as our anniversary present to one another and just got back from our Thanksgiving trip with family and made reservations for next Thanksgiving trip and we live in Alamo, TN. I think the responder that stated it best, this place is for riding the trails, getting muddy during the day and night coming back to what ever type of accommodations you've chose to select and enjoy the evening, it's not the Wynn in Las Vegas, the folks there are so helpful and friendly, I believe that some of these people have gone to a different resort. I recently stayed on 12-27-13 for 1 of the 2 nights we were scheduled to stay.The website is very misleading and there was no Southern hospitality,no breakfast,store was closed and I had called 8 times and left 5 messages and nobody has ever returned my calls. This is "piss poor" run place and we went to a hotel the 2nd night and I drove over 300 miles to get there and was excited to take my kids there after we saw in Fishers ATV world and other places. Major let down but the trails are great and mostly wooded which is nice and I loved the trails and there are way better places to stay by the interstate and a great Mexican restaraunt too. I'd avoid this one. I stayed in a rustic cabin so I wasn't expecting much. It was just a shack with 1/4 cedar plywood stapled to a big shed with the cheapest fake hardwood style flooring that had already gotten wet and warped. Bring you own bedding, but the beds were covered in plastic. If you've ever slept on a plastic covered mattress it makes noise all night at makes you sweat. I only stayed a single night which with extra fees and cleaning costed over $100. RV spots are very narrow. My friend brought his RV for this trip. There was only two other RV's in the park that night and they insisted he had to take the spot right next to the other RV, who had dogs. The picnic table was right next to the other spots sewer pipe. We were afraid to use the fire ring as it was only 3 feet from the other RV. Bathhouses, The bathhouse supplied for the RV and nicer rentals was nice. The rustic cabin areas not so nice, there were no paper towels or soap supplied. The bathrooms were dirty and two of the toilets clogged. General store, had nice employees but limited hours closing at 5. No restaurants or stores nearby for supplies, which can be frustrating when you realize you need something after a long days ride and have to run into town for a simple toiletry. Trail system, I've ridden better but wasn't horrible. Pressure washer, gets the job done but takes tokens which can only be bought at the general store, which closes at 5 and no token dispenser to get more tokens after hours. Riding permits, I was told after check in that I had to order riding permits online. This wasn't the most straight forward process to order some hunting license that was passed off as a riding permit. Sprint has no service at the resort so anybody with a Sprint phone had to borrow somebody elses phone to purchase, also requiring everybody to carry their phone with them on the trail to show proof. Overall not worth the hassle and money when I could go to plenty of other trail systems in TN, KY or WV for similar money and have a much better experience. read more

Please Read in full before you go. We stayed a total of 4 nights, 2 nights in a small Rustic Cabin, and 2 nights in the Redneck Retreat, a little larger cabin. Greed, is the theme in our opinion. The first 2 nights were $98 a night with a $25 cleaning fee? And a $8 admin fee? It's a 12x8 portable building with 2 bunks and AC, that's it. No linings, Not even a trash can. It had a public bathhouse with broken AC, you sweat down, and I had no hot water both nights. The second 2 nights were $185 a night with a $60 cleaning fee. And a $15 admin fee? About a 12x25 building with a rear bedroom, no AC, and a bathroom, no AC. Not even an exhaust fan. There was sign threatening additional charges if you didn't take out your own trash. What's the $60 bucks for? Oh and we decided to camp in the woods one night, and was charged $20 to park in a empty lot, in the middle of a 4 night stay. Ice was $6 a bag, $3 a mile down road. The restaurant only servers on the weekend. You are out of luck on breakfast, are any other meal during the week. Again, it's about the money, not providing a service. There are lots of new resorts popping up near by. Maybe this will get their attention. read more

It's a poorly run campground. They don't answer the phone (we watched them ignore it and let it go to the answering machine). Then they don't return the calls. The signs say they are open 8-5, which are mighty strange hours for a campground to start with. Got off the trails after 5 so no ice and lno firewood. And sometimes the office is closed in the middle of the day. Observed quite a few people try to get a site after hours. They called the phone # that is posted and no answer. They mess up reservations. Don't take rv site #4 as your hookups are about 50' away. No grass at all on the full hookup sites. They advertise that they have gas but were out for most of the week we were there. These folks should go camping every now and then so they can see how campgrounds are run. On the good side, the pizza and wings in the restaurant at the top of the hill were very good and the people working there were extremely friendly. It does not seem to be run by the same people as the campground. And the trails were great when you got off the gravel roads. Again, the trails are not managed by the campground - they just have an access trail to get you in. read more

Thanks for contacting me. First off, I would like to say this was our first trip to Ride Royal Blue. We were very disappointed. The girl was not too happy we arrived for check-in right at 5:00 closing. I apologize for this but it was out of our control. We had a 5-6 hour drive from Georgia (with stops). She didn't even offer us a map or ask if we had questions. She just said "get your key from the porch". That was understandable because I, too, like to leave work on time. We found our cabin and was very disappointed. It was overpriced and not what we expected. It was dirty and there was water puddled up in the bathroom floor around the sink, shower, and toilet. Yuck. We have stayed at several different cabins in various parts of Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. This cabin was not in the same price range for what it costs. We didn't sleep well our first night because the beds have a plastic wrapping around the mattresses. It made us sweat during the night even though it was cold outside. We woke the next morning and went for breakfast at the lodge. It was delicious and the lady working in the kitchen was hospitable. It was worth the money. We went back to the general store after breakfast to check-in and the same girl was working along with another girl. She was not friendly this time either. She actually took a personal phone call and stayed on the call the entire time she entered our information into the computer. This is rude and unacceptable for any establishment charging money for guests. We went riding that day and the leaves were changing and it was beautiful and fun. We hope to return to Royal Blue but will NOT be staying in your overpriced cabins. We will definitely stay off site. Thank you again for contacting me. Okay place. The campground has no shade and the sites have no privacy as they are very close to each other. The operators do not appear to care whether you stayed there, and it may have been a bother to ask them a simple question... In spite of the "strict" speed limit signs, I discovered the owners and operators are the ones speeding around the place in their vehicles in a cloud of dust. I didn't try the breakfast because I just wasn't inclined to spend any more money there.The trails are great! read more

Stayed in one of the small cabins in June 2013. The cabin was very basic. Beds, AC and electricity. But considering we were there to ride the trails, this is all we needed at the end of a long day on the trails. The campground was very clean, we used the shower house and it was well kept as well. This is an ATV campground. I would not recommend it for a weekend of family camping, if you are not ATVing. As there are ATV's everywhere. Access to the trails was very convenient, rode our dirt bikes right from the cabin, up into the mountains. Royal Blue Wildlife Management Area was a great place for trail riding with our dirt bikes. We went into town, short drive, for dinner as we did not plan on cooking out. We brought movies to play on the laptop for late evening entertainment. I have not personally stayed there, but have visited with several of my friends camping there on multiple occasions I normally stay at a hotel 1 exit south that offers free breakfast, tv, pool and no cleaning charge for $35 night less than their cabin comparably equipped (no pool). Because my friends were staying there I called and left 3 messages about this cabin and have not received a single reply, so I know the customer service is bad. It must be nice to have a business where you don't need to concern yourself with the customers. I guess I'll continue to stay at the hotel down the street that also has the convenience of A really good mexican restaurant, customer service, free breakfast, 2 gas stations to fuel up at, a subway for lunch and access to trail head. read more

What a TOTAL ripoff! We pulled in after a long day on the road, and nothing else for miles. When they told me the rate was $66.00 for one night, I was ready to leave but my wife talked me out of it. What a shithole! Mud and dirt, water faucets that didn't work, water that stunk (probably from the creek!), and when I dumped our tank in the morning, it overflowed. Can't complain about the mindless rednecks racing their ATVs up and down the roads, because it IS an ATV campground, but the clouds of dust coated everything by the time we left. Very poor experience at this campground. The following message was sent in response to a request for feedback. We've never heard from them. If you're in the area and looking for trails to ride, head to Windrock. Jessica, Thank you for checking in with us regarding our stay at Ride Royal Blue. For your knowledge we drove from Florida with 6 riders, we also went to Wilderness Off-Road ATV Park in Kentucky and Windrock Park in TN. We do have the following comments/suggestions: 1. Our reservation/check-in process was very disappointing. In the initial reservation call, I was assured that our 30 amp spot "had everything". I later found out that this didn't include sewer hook-up via friends. I called the day before (Saturday) to confirm our arrival and to move to a different spot. I was assured (by a gentleman) that as long as we arrived before 5 PM Sunday (September 29) it could be handled at arrival. When we arrived (around 3:30 PM), there was an envelope in the box with our non-sewer spot and no one in sight. Our spot had trash in the fire pit and was right next to a cabin even though there were a ton of spots open. Frankly that was a little weird--why would you place an rv right next to a cabin when the campground is empty? The next morning we went to check in and asked about paying an extra fee to dump. We were told the only option was $20 per dump. We said the price to upgrade spots is less, we'll just pay to upgrade spots and dump once on our way out. We were told by the lady at the front desk that wasn't an option in an extremely rude way and asked if I knew how to make reservations. She said "sorry" a ridiculous amount of times but did nothing. She asked if we wanted to speak to the owners, we said yes, but they never came by. Please train people who answer the phone to ask specifically about water, electric, sewer and to know the times you close on certain days. Also asking me if I knew how to make reservations was really unacceptable. Is all this information available on your webpage?--of course--but when your staff contradicts it--who/what are we supposed to trust? 2. When we asked the lady at the front desk about the trails she said she hadn't ridden any of them. This is pretty disappointing, other places we went like Windrock had very knowledgeable staff who were sure to share good riding paths. Please give staff some training regarding some simple loops or suggestions. It makes a big difference. If we aren't going to get any advice, I'd just as soon go someplace free like Wilderness. 3. We unfortunately had an accident at one of the farthest points from the campground. Other campgrounds we visited like Windrock had all emergency numbers clearly posted at the office and an explanation of what to do if you were injured etc. We didn't see this at Ride Royal Blue. Please post a concise list of emergency numbers, nearest hospital, etc. This could really make the difference for someone with an injury. As an aside, this was not just our opinion, we spoke to another camper who (unsolicited) mentioned they were frustrated with the lack of help/knowledge at the front desk. read more

This campground is the worst campground I have EVER stayed at. It's awful. The one star is for the cabins and the fabulous riding trails. But that's besides the point. The point is, this is the worst management of a business I have ever seen. We arrived on a Monday night and our cabin wasn't cleaned. There were hairs all over the dirty sheets and dirt filling the showers and bathtub. They apologized and "cleaned" the next day. The restaurant they advertised to be "on site" wouldn't be open until 4 p.m, Wednesday. Tuesday we went down to the general store, which conveniently closes at 5, and they were all out of ice. No ice for a full day and a half. By the time we were back from riding the store was closed at 5 p.m. Not to mention, Wednesday the restaurant was closed. Our bill came to a whopping 2,300 for 2 cabins for 3 nights? we thought it seemed expensive an asked if they would break it up, which they never did. We thought they had maybe booked us and extra night and when we asked they said "checkout is at 11 am on Thursday the 11th." Watch for hidden taxes!!! all I have to say is I'm never coming back and I wouldn't recommend you go either! read more
