They also mentioned we were the only guests that night and as a horror movie fan- it made me a little uneasy. The hotel staff called us a couple of times to verify our arrival time to make sure they had our room ready and security would be there to let us in (we felt oh so important). We started up the mountain and after a little way up we stopped to check in with security, a super nice guy who just had us fill out our paperwork and let us know our room would be open for us. We continued up the mountain but stopped frequently to take in the amazing views the altitude allowed. There are lots of spots to stop and sit or stand in awe of the beauty surrounding you. The Sasquatch cut out hidden in the woods was a bonus too! The room was just as amazing as the view. It felt like a little home and the bed was delightfully cozy. Our fridge had some beverages in it to enjoy during our stay as well which I really appreciated! The soaking tub was magnificent and the balcony is magical. We spent the majority of our time sitting on the balcony with some wine and enjoying the most amazing view of the valley below, it was our favorite part of the trip. The only downside was that the restaurant wasn't open during the year we went and there wasn't anything real close by to grab a quick bite. Ultimately we decided we enjoyed the room so much we didn't want to leave to find something to eat and just enjoyed the snacks we brought with us. All in all this place is amazing. I couldn't believe we were the first visitors because the view from this mountain is incredible. I hope they get their restaurant back up and running because I would love to return.

I've been many times so this isn't a one- off experience. Staff is typically very young and untrained. If it's crazy busy I'm patient, but if there are only one or two other tables and the staff is just standing around talking and provide terrible service, it's frustrating. Recently stopped in and stood by the hostess stand for 10 mins without any acknowledgment. They weren't that busy, but the hostess was cleaning tables, so we didn't mind waiting. When she came over no greeting or anything. We asked for a table and she just handed us a buzzer without saying a word. If there's a wait, good grief please just communicate that. I asked how long the wait was as she was walking away and she says "45 mins"... crazy she expected us to wait without telling us how long it would be. I honestly think this place would do much better if it was self-service. The food is OK but the cod sandwich did have visible parasites last time I ordered it.

The drinks were tasty, the service was very friendly (from the moment we were greeted and seated outside, to our server and inside the store itself). This is a super family friendly place, but do know there is LOTS of partying going on at the bar - it's a marina at Norris Lake, I'd expect nothing less. During the summer they do theme nights. You'll see everything from Halloween to a Polynesian luau. These guys don't mess around. The food is quite good too. We ordered the chicken quesadilla with everything (based on the recommendation of our "dock guy") and it was really tasty. It's very filling and packed with cheese (so if you are not a cheese person, might want to order it with light cheese). The onion rings are so good and served with a remoulade type dressing. One of us ordered the grouper bites. He didn't love them, but they weren't bad. Of course, we're on a lake, not the ocean, so it's to be expected. As for drinks, they have a good variety of beers and can make just about anything you'd like. I ordered a mai tai and it was strong and delicious. It was SO tempting to buy something in the gift shop. It's the best gift shop I've seen on the lake. So if you're looking for a fun souvenir, beach gear, a great hat, or even jewelry, stop in here. You won't be disappointed. They also have plenty of GREAT beverage options - alcoholic and otherwise. I was impressed with their selection. When we head back to Norris next year, we'll pop in for an early dinner again for sure.

The entrance and the hallways are filled with local historical photos, news clippings & ephemera, antiques, old farming equipment, classic cars, and tons of other things to look at. The llamas outside are a certainly a unique feature, and are quite endearing to watch. The rooms are very comfortable, many with lovely balconies and views of the lake. Those that look out to the back of the property offer an occasional glimpse of the llamas grazing on the land surrounding the hotel. Linens and towels are always top notch and freshly laundered. Occasionally I have had small issues with noise from neighbouring rooms, but usually when families with children are staying in them. Normally I sleep well and am not disturbed by other customers. The breakfast has been really well done the times when I have been there. A great selection of standard hot and cold items. Copious amounts of tea and coffee. I can't recommend it highly enough if you're coming to the area and want a great hotel without the crazy price tag that some local resorts might charge.

Avoid this hotel like the PLAGUE!! We stopped during our…read moreroad trip traveling south. Reviews were pretty good despite the cheap price, run down from the outside upon arrival. It was late and I booked it while on the road. Entered the room and routinely pulled the sheets down to the foot and noticed awful stains but no bugs immediately . This was the worst mistake I ever made. I decided to put pjs on and go to sleep with myself and baby boy in one bed and husband and other son in the other bed. I couldn't sleep. I just had a bad feeling and then as I got comfortable with the lights off I started itching. I flipped the ONE light on in the room and saw there was a huge bed bug under me that I knocked onto the floor before it could reach the baby. (First pic) . Then noticed others crawling around and toward him . I was horrified and traumatized. I couldn't believe I subjected my family to this. It's a longer story but we left to go to another hotel close by that cost more. I told the attendant what happened and said I would expect a refund. He proceeded to tell me there were no bugs. I told him if there was no refund by morning I'd be back. FF the next morning the staff argued several ridiculous points : I left the hotel because their WiFi pw was "TRUMP2024", I bought bed bugs from Walmart and put them into the bed, that they don't have any bugs at all and I never saw any and I'm making it up. All this so they wouldn't have to return $70. The manager even argued this in front of the police who were called while I showed their staff the video of the bugs crawling around. . I still was never refunded . I left telling them I'd write reviews daily

Yep, 40 years to find this gem. I understand BUDGET & the rate was lowest in the area; however, there should standards to be considered a hotel/motel. This ace would have met none of them. If it's going to stay in business, maybe they should rent by the hour. Pass by this one; pay the extra bucks & chance a 2 star place.
