I tried this gym/spin class yesterday for the first time with Lisa (8:30AM Performance RIDE). Her class was great - high energy, great instructor. I had never tried the Spin shoes before and they have them available for free to use to clients. The girl at the front desk was very helpful and showed me how to use them since it was my first time. First class was free which was also nice. And they have childcare. Couldn't ask for more! I wish this gym was closer to me as I only have Crunch HV near me and they only have a couple RIDE classes a week whereas this one has 3 a day (they also have Barre and TRX). They had ~25 bikes in the class. I liked that they had it dark, especially during intense moments. It does have black lights so if you wear white or neon, you will glow. Pricing: $18/class; 3 classes $16/class; 5 classes $15/class; 10 classes $14/class; $115 monthly unlimited or $99 if do recurring. High energy instructors. Clean and Modern studio. High quality bikes. Good sound system & positive atmosphere. I don't necessarily agree with push ups or the dumbbell training during the class but that's just me. I'm not going to say if it's right or wrong... most people seem to enjoy it so...so be it. Btw - Check online for specials. I was able to get a 10pack (10 classes) for an end of Summer deal - $100. It's Definitely worth it. Full price admission isn't for me since I belong to another gym and really don't have the time. I would join if I could though. Check this place out. read more

Met the owner of this establishment and she is a first class woman. I cannot wait to attend my first class early next week. I believe I will try Spinning and move onto the Xtend Barre. After a few months I will have my finale and exclusively work with their HIIT program. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. Hands down, my favorite place to workout in the Philadelphia/greater Philadelphia area! I make the drive from the city to RIDE regularly because it is that worth it. What an amazing studio! Not being a fan of conventional gyms, I love coming here to get a single most effective body workout. Studio is inviting and cozy. Extremely clean, organized and minimalistic. Font desk staff is very accommodating, professional and friendly. The changing area in the back has a bathroom and a shower. Fresh towels are readily available. There is a wall of cupboards that one can leave their keys and shoes in. There is even a jar of ponytail elastics, which I am sure every girl can appreciate! Cycling shoes are available at no charge in all sizes and are a big help! Gel seat covers that have a saddle cushion pad are also available, which is definitely a big help for someone like me, trying spin for the first time. The cycling studio itself is open and has great décor with one wall spanning a photograph of an open road and a mirror on the opposite wall. Motivational writing is on another wall. What I love the most about RIDE and what keeps bringing me back time after time is its energetic, motivational and professional instructors. I had a pleasure of taking a class with a few and loved the energy and organization they brought to the class. I stuck with Claire for the 6 am Wednesday and Friday classes. She really wakes me up with her upbeat attitude even this early in the morning. Not to mention her music choices rock! I know RIDE also offers yoga, it's on my list to try. I highly recommend anyone trying spin and this studio in particular. I am not an overly athletic person and was very intimidated at first. Love that classpass offers some classes in the burbs! They offer your first class free, make sure to snag that before using up your classpass classes! They definitely don't offer all of their spots on classpass so sign up early. The studio is an awesome set up. Theres a large changing room (with hair bands, deodorant, bathroom, shower, cubbies, etc). They provide towels, seat cushions, and shoes. I always got there like 2 mins before the class so I didn't take any. If you want to rent any of these, make sure to go a little early. Clip ins are always a major plus if you want a better workout. This 1 hour class really is a full hour of work. I don't love the bikes, I wish they had monitors to read the resistance, distance, and RPM. The instructors are really great. They're super motivational and make sure to correct technique throughout the class. I'm usually not a fan of the flywheel/soul cycle style in a spin class (hand weights), but RIDE really knows what they're doing. Instead of ignoring legs and throwing in some arm exercises, resistance turns up during the arm portion and the exercises are actually a struggle. They offer a lot of different weight sizes. They also throw a lot of ab circuits in there in ways I wouldn't have thought of. The room is glowing from start to finish (literally, its black lit). Music is great. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in the burbs. read more

Classes are great - teachers & music are good and bikes are new. Online booking is easy and there typically is a bike available. The room is a little tight - making it rather warm if you take the 2nd class of the day. This also sometimes makes the floor wet and a little slippery. read more

This is a great little studio! It's a little easy to miss in the little strip mall where its located, but once you get inside and hear the music pumping, you know you're in the right place. The have Spinner brand bikes that seem well-maintained and they offer loaner shoes which is great! I think everyone should use clips for indoor classes - especially for speed work and climbing. Everything was very clean and everyone wiped down their bikes after the ride :-) Instructor Claire was super high energy and fun, in spite of the fact that she was teaching back-to-back classes and we were her second group on a Sunday morning. Good music and good cuing from Claire. The front-desk person was also very nice as were all the women (and I think 2 guys) in the class. My only caution/reservation is that there were several drills using small hand weights for upper body work like shoulder presses and flies. There was also a drill in which we were asked to put our hands behind our backs and pedal heavy. I tried all of these drills and had no problems but I know that a lot of Spinning purists and others are against this "Soul Cycle" style of training. I probably wouldn't do it if I were teaching but I think it's fine for more experienced riders. And if you want to opt out, go ahead and feel comfortable making the ride your own. This was my first class. Technically. I walk in and the girl at the front had this blank stare on her face - didn't say hello or asked if she could help or even a smile. No here's the locker room, here's the bathroom, etc. So I just stood around awkwardly trying to figure out what was going on. When people started shuffling in I followed suit. The bikes are not like other spin bikes I've used and there was no instructor that I could see to ask for help. Usually the instructor is up front or walking around the bikes asking if anyone needs help. More standing around awkwardly. Class was supposed to start at 7;at five past with no teacher present and already with a bad taste in my mouth I just left. Make no mistake this a snobby "members only" studio. This place is not for the faint of heart. It's an hour long class and you work pretty much the entire time. I wanted to die throughout the whole process - but it was a good workout. The instructor was engaged with the class the entire time. Cycling isn't really for me, but I had a good workout. If you're into cardio or want a good workout, head on over. read more

This was the first time I ever took a spin class. In the first 5 mins I thought I would never make it through the class but surprisingly I kept pushing myself and before I knew it, the hour was over. Sometimes I didn't keep up with the class when I needed a break but that was fine. The instructor I had was Claire, she was great. She didn't single you out or anything. I'm not super fit either so if I can make it through the class most people can. Will defiantly start making this part of my fitness routine! read more

I come here once a week, via ClassPass. I love Lisa and Jillians classes. I wish that they were available on ClassPass closer to class start time--you can't make reservations within 24 hours as the studio disappears off the app the day before classes--other studios allow you to sign up until an hour beforehand and I wish Ride did this as well. They provide towels and shoes but if you spin a lot I'd suggest investing in your own shoes because the ones they provide are old and not clean. I wish the bikes had updated capabilities as well: RPMS, etc. to show you how hard you're really working. Other than that its the best spin option in this part of the suburbs. Friendly people and instructors. OH and they never answer the phone and the mailbox is always full. Don't bother calling. read more

I've always been reluctant to try spin, but when I saw the free trial ride I unknowingly signed up for the best thing I could ever do for myself. My first class was led by Kween Claire. (That's how I describe her!) She is FANTASTIC! Her sessions are like a kick-ass workout turned DJ night. Her energy, encouragement, and thoughtfully-picked playlist make the hour go by so quickly - but not without giving me the most insane workout of my week. Every single instructor I've had thus far is just as challenging and just as enjoyable, but I had to mention the power of Claire's first impression. I just signed up for my second batch of unlimited monthly rides, and I can't wait to see how much it will transform me - both physically and mentally. Definitely worth every penny! read more

I like mixing up my workouts. I really look forward to coming here 1x a week. I wish I was able to get there more often. It is nice to go to a real spin studio vs the lame ones inside a typical gym.
