The motorcycle instructor Randy is an awesome teacher. I really enjoyed his lesson. He's a type of instructor you could go Two with no experience at all and he could take you through all the fundamentals. I paid for a two hour session and gave me a $10 discount for the second hour. He provided all gear and a motorcycle. He even gave me a motorcycle handbook from the DMV. The guy is very patient first thing he did was set me down and showed me all the controls and the parts of the bike. He taught me how to takeoff and get out of first gear and ride into second. I learned braking as well. After that I learned how to get up into third gear then downShift. Next was navigating turning and to start preparing me for the DMV test. After a few lessons with you, You'll feel like you'll have the confidence to start riding. I must say I was quite nervous and a little scared but this guy is awesome and he is really patient. When you mess up he doesn't scold you he talks to you in a nice patient soft tone and doesn't it make you feel stupid at all. The guy has over 14 years of Teaching experience and a lot of knowledge about bikes. He gave me some solid advice on which bikes I should get especially for a beginner rider and which bikes I should stay away from. Overall this is a very positive experience and I would definitely recommend this guy to everyone who is trying to get their motorcycle license. His lessons are affordable and he is patient. I'd never ridden a bike, and had very little experience with driving a stick. That said, 15 minutes into my first lesson Randy had me on the bike. Randy was always on time, very laid back, patient, experienced and obviously knows his stuff. The lessons are structured, however because they're one-on-one it's at your speed. For some reason I had a particularly difficult time picking up a skill, and Randy was patient and supportive in observing my error, showing me the proper technique and encouraging me to keep trying. I also appreciated the way each lesson builds on top of the previous, which allows you to learn new skills while improving on what you've already learned. I'd recommend "Ride with Pride" to beginners, as well as those who have taken group classes and still may need improvement. read more

So I'm not one to write negative reviews about anything, but I was told that Randy doesn't turn people away. After about fifteen minutes he told me I was unteachable. I can understand being told "it would be better to find an instructor more suitable for you", or " we can keep practicing and you'll get it" but he was adamant that it was all me refusing to listen. He claims nobody he has taught has dropped a bike which I personally felt was a red flag to begin with, too good to be true. He also said that whenever someone fails he blames the instructor which in this situation was pretty ironic. It was my first time on a motorcycle so I'm not surprised that it would take longer to get the hang of it. read more

I took a lesson from Randi a long time ago. He was the single worst experience with a 'teacher' I've ever had. I was nervous, I wasn't a driver, it was my first time on a motorcycle. He knew all of these things. He seemed to get frustrated with me, which made me more tense and I couldn't seem to get the clutch. He kept saying how no one ever had this much trouble. I had trouble with the grip of the handles, I have small hands. At one point I said, my hands are small this is hard, when I successfully did get the clutch once, he disparagingly remarked, 'Did your hands suddenly grow?'. I was not rude towards him during the lesson. After my lesson as I walked down the road to get to the bus for public transportation that I was taking he drove his motorbike along side me and told me I shouldn't bother to learn to ride a motorcycle, it clearly wasn't for me. It was not said kindly to me. I didn't respond, I was by myself and this was incredibly uncomfortable to have someone harassing me and belittling me as I walked down the road. Someone I had just paid to teach me. When I got home I had another surprise. He had emailed me and reiterated everything he said along the road. I don't know what about me had rubbed him the wrong way, but this was so unprofessional. I also didn't reply to his email. Because I wanted this toxic 'teacher' out of my life. From his email: "I am sorry to say i have never seen anybody spend 1 hour and 10 min learning how to release the clutch and get going." Why would you write that to someone? I am a small woman, I felt harassed and belittled by this man. I regret that I ever met him, that I paid him and that I didn't review him sooner. Ladies and Gentlemen, Randy is a great instructor. He is calm and patient. At the class, he will teach you everything from the bike, the helmet.. to the technique to ride. He also watches how you ride motorcycle and gives the advice to help you pass the M1 skill test. At reasonable price and one on one instructor, there is no reason to hesitate to set an appointment. Some people may think to take the scooter for M1 license, but the Honda CB250 is the perfect way to get M1 license, and I just got the M1 license on June 29th. I stumbled on Randy's yelp on accident. I emailed him and we set up an appointment right away. I was nervous my first day because I've never rode a motorcycle before. Randy was very patient with me which help tremendously. A PLUS FOR ME, HE WAS ALWAYS ONTIME! I think the fact that he was experienced and patient made learning easy for me. I took a couple classes, never dropped his bike, caught on quickly on gear changings which I was very shocked at how easy it was but I think it had alot to do with his patience. If you want the cheapest place to rent a motorcycle for your driving test at the DMV, Randy is by far the cheapest. Here's a story: I scheduled a test at the DMV via phone and arrived the next day for them to say I wasn't in the system to take my test. Randy had spent his morning meeting me and standing in line with me for them only to reschedule me for the next day. Randy's like "it's cool man, we'll show up tomorrow and have you pass." Next day I passed EASY. The best part about Randy is he knows the employees at the DMV and has an "inside" with them. As everyone knows, California DMV employees aren't the nicest or friendliest people all the time but if they see you with Randy you get preferential treatment. read more

I highly recommend Randy as a private motorcycle instructor. My first experience was at that $250 school where the coaches yell at you and you ride around in circles like a circus troupe. It was a terrible experience and then I found Ride with Pride. Randy provides private, professional quality motorcycle instruction. There are others that may be a bit cheaper, but most of the others are more expensive! Considering the quality of the service he provides I consider it a very good investment and I have already run out of business cards- giving them to my friends. Randy has a business license and an insured motorcycle that I used for the road test at the DMV. It wasn't hard after a few sessions with Randy and I passed the road test the first time! Ride with pride is single handedly the best way to get behind a bike for anyone at any level of experience! This might sound like a bold claim but hear me out, Randy the instructor is incredible. I came in with my wife for lessons after not riding for about ten years and my wife having no experience with either stick shift cars or motorcycle knowledge. Randy was punctual, welcoming, and straight up. His teaching style and knowledge reflect his extensive years of riding and we immediately felt relieved and less nervous. He ran through all the functions of the bike, the controls, the breaking, shifting, and starting up/turning off, (he even taught us how to put the helmet on lol) and anything in between. Randy is living his best life. He's been riding for years and loves to teach people to enjoy it as much as he does. I had taken a school course but felt too tense to let the information in the class settle with me and I ended up failing the skills test. With Randy, I was able to kick back, ask simple questions and just play with the bike until I felt comfortable enough to go back to the school, retake the test and pass! I was an experienced motocycle rider but it was 25 years ago. I decided not to spending too much money attending a expensive group class lesson but saving moneny renting a motorcycle for the test. Over the phone, Randy gave me some advices due to my riding experience in the past and he suggested that I might just need half an hour to get use to his motorcycle which is easy to ride for the test then I should ready to go. After taking the M1 endorsement course, I realized I hadn't learned anything at all. Despite the fact that I passed the course and got my M1 license, I did not feel street-ready. So I went on yelp, and thankfully found Randy. Without Randy I wouldn't be able to ride at all. I highly recommend him. When I decided to learn to ride a motorcycle, I signed up for a "beginner" motorcycle class through a school (one weekend & you take the test with them instead of the DMV). Well, it turned out a huge mistake - I have never driven a stick shift car and I am an overall slow motor skills learner - so by the second day, I was completely terrified and failed the test miserably. That's when I found Randy! He helped me get un-scared of the whole idea of riding and took time to let me practice the basics before moving on to the more complicated stuff. He was also extremely patient and supportive! After a few lessons, I even got the courage to finally get to the street =) Needless to say, when I returned to the motorcycle school (they allowed me to re-take, for a small fee) it was a completely different experience - instead of stuffing around and struggling with switching gears and other basics, I was actually able to learn stuff (and passed with the best score in my group). I would say the most important difference between going to motorcycle school and training with Randy was that he was more concerned about teaching me to actually ride vs acquiring specific technical skills (which are important but should come after the person is comfortable with the bike). Me: I'm a military member that is stationed overseas but needed a motorcycle license from my home of record. My bike was in Europe so I needed a bike to do the DMV test in California. I have completed MSF BRC and own a 600cc naked bike. Motorcycle: The bike that Randy provides is a 220cc motorcycle and it is perfect for the test. I did the whole test on idle without playing with the clutch, throttle or rear brakes. I made a mistake during my first and second time testing but it was completely not related to the bike at all. Randy: Randy is awesome! Talked to him on the phone and set up a time/place to meet before the test. I decided to test in Pasadena DMV but he can meet you at several different locations. He walked me through the test, set up cones and helped me practice. After I FAILed the first time, he offered his bike for much cheaper. After I FAILed the second time, he helped me practice on a Sunday afternoon and charged me even less for my third test. AND THEN! I Passed. Randy is awesome, give him a call. I recently tried to pass the dmv motorcycle skills test on my 63" wheelbase Harley, and failed miserably. Not because I'm a novice rider, but because my 600 pound factory chopper simply cannot be guided safely within a 12 foot radius circle. (The video of the skills test on the dmv website shows a man successfully navigate the slalom/circle on an 800 lb, 1800 cc touring bike....but the critically pertinent info missing from that demonstration is the length of the bike's wheelbase, as well as the length of the turning radius.) So, I searched CL for "motorcycles for rent" and Randy's "Ride With Pride" came up. Renting his Honda Rebel 250cc was the solution to my dilemma. Randy met me at the dmv, provided the reg & ins ppwk for his Rebel, I paid his very reasonable rental fee, and took a few practice runs on the course before checking in for my appt. What I could not manage on my chopper I EASILY accomplished on his Honda. Randy is a good dude as well, a personable and friendly guy whose calm demeanor certainly helped me relax enough to pass the test. I didn't attend Randy's skills instruction course, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the man to anyone considering doing so. read more
