Happy to say I completed my eight week course at New Mom school!! I wish I would've had this community with my first son. When I first started the class, I was very nervous. There was 14 of us girls some second time Moms-and most first time moms and we all fell included no matter if you've done this before or not you were treated equally! The girls in my class got together every Tuesday before class and we really build a friendship to the point where we have done outside experiences out of our schedule class days! For me, this was to me other mom and be able to be in a community where I felt heard and understood and felt comfortable around and definitely got that and more! After I had my baby I noticed I had people in my circle that weren't going through the same things as me. Although they had kids, we weren't going through the same thing at the same time. I was skeptical because as an introvert I was scared to go out with my newborn (he was 3 months at the time) But I'm glad I crossed paths with New mom school again. I signed up and went from Newborn class all the way to their last class of Rising toddler. Through the classes I met many wonderful mamas that were all going through the same things, we could relate in the milestones our babies were having. New mom school had many professionals come in and educate us on things like pelvic exercises, on how to have a safe car seat installed, and even things like how to establish a sleeping schedule for baby. Even though for some this information may sound like it was a no brainer. When you're sleep deprived and learning as you go, as a first time mom I appreciated every advice. My family loves New Mom School! The front and back offices are always super clean & tidy (immediate green flags). I participated in an 8-week 'Rising Toddler' class with my 11 month old son. Having a time and space dedicated to him socializing with other babies in his age group was a really great experience. Dana, our instructor, is a rockstar!! Every class was engaging and fun, and it quickly became something we both looked forward to. My son explored new toys, learned new songs/stories and (most importantly) played with his baby buddies every week. As a first-time mom, having a supportive space to be honest about how postpartum is going was also very special. The other moms in my cohort were all kind and relatable.
