When we visit Ohiopyle, Ridge Runner is a "must" on our list of places to stop during our trip! The owner Jake is so kind and helpful and their selection of spirits is great. I first came here a few years ago and really liked the canned cocktails and peach pie moonshine. Everywhere has apple pie moonshine (this place does, too), but not everywhere has peach pie! It makes a great cocktail with some lemonade and lemon juice to take down the sweetness. My most recent visit was this past weekend. I went into the store with the intention on just grabbing a bottle of moonshine and I ended up trying a pickleback sample (whiskey and pickle moonshine), buying more than I planned and getting to chat with the owner for a while. My mom got a bottle of their blueberry infused vodka and got to try a spiked blueberry lemonade, and I'm looking forward to making some of those at home! We'll definitely stop at Ridge Runner again during our next trip to the Farmington/Ohiopyle area, and maybe next time we'll be lucky enough to have some food outside and some more drinks! First time back in several years. We were in Uniontown and said we mine as well stop here and the winery. Thank god we did because the place got much better. All that you could do before was sample some of the spirits and or buy a bottle to go. Now they have an entire section built next to the distillery. Nice seats inside. Garage doors that allows the place to be opened when the weather is nice outside. A nice place to sit inside and a great looking bar with probably the coolest display for heat. They have a food truck that arrived? They have cocktails in place and all of the different samples available. I had the old fashioned with the honey infused bourbon based whiskey. It was incredible with a dried up orange. We sample the bourbon based whiskey, honey, and a few more including a clear white rum that tasted like something I've had from Colorado back in October. The day after Thanksgiving I wanted nothing to do with shopping and really just wanted to just try a place that was a bit of a road trip. Lucky for us this Laurel Highlands Pour Tour Passport has opened our eyes to new and exciting places such as this. Located near Ohiopyle and only about 20 minutes from Deep Creek Maryland sits this little gem. It's not much to look at but what it lacked in esthetics it more than makes up for in personality. Not really anywhere to sit inside we asked the barmaid if they did serve drinks. It wasn't entirely apparent to me if they just did samples of their goods and you could buy bottles based off your samples. She pointed to a list of seasonal drinks made with their spirits and mixers. Being Black Friday they had a couple of deals going on that day. Buy a bottle get 10% off, buy 3 get 15%, and Bloody Mary's were a dollar off. I wasn't feeling like drinking a Bloody Mary so i opted for this butterscotch bourbon drink, and it was fantastic! So fantastic I asked for the recipe and purchased a bottle of their bourbon to replicate the drink at home. My other half went with a pumpkin pie float which was so decadent and delicious, I could tell it was a winner. While we enjoyed our drinks we made small talk with our bartender, who was super nice and engaging. So happy we made the trek to check this place out! And bonus, a winery was right next door, and also listed on our passports. Definitely worth the stop if in the area or passing through. read more

Amazing little find off the beaten path in the Ohiopyle/Chalkhill/Farmington area -- plenty of vodka, whiskey, moonshine and rum to choose from, as well as yummy cocktails! Jake, the bartender, is amazing and will direct you to other points of interest in the area if you aren't familiar. He made some great recommendations and drinks! The blueberry vodka, peach pie moonshine, apple pie moonshine, cherry bomb moonshine and pickle moonshine were some favorites in our group. Everything is made right there and there's a fire pit outside with music and games. My peach pie southern sweet tea was great! I'd love to come back. read more

Very small distillery with awesome products. Sampled most of their products. While it is labeled "moonshine" it is watered down to 50 proof to make it more drinkable. I don't know if they make a "real" moonshine (150 proof or more). They are following suit with most small distilleries making "apple pie, pumpkin pie, root beer, etc to make them more appealing to a broader fan base. Honey Burbon (possibly 80 proof not certain) was awesome as was Apple Pie and Rootbeer. They also have mixed drinks ... we had a Bloody Mary (pic attached). We found this place in our Laurel Highland passports. It took us about an hour to drive here but it was worth it. We knew this place wasn't close so that's why we came out here on a off day. We walked in and we were warmly greeted. We were the only ones there but the girl said that they had been busy all day. Other people did eventually come in so we weren't by ourselves. We tried samples of their different moonshines. I ordered a Pumpkin Pie Float and it was excellent. I just ate and getting some ice cream and pumpkin pie moonshine hit the spot. In my wife's drink she got the bourbon and it was good too. We bought a bottle of the bourbon. Fast forward a day later... We made the same drink with the bourbon and it was excellent. This is a cool place and seems popular. I wish we were closer but if you are in the area definitely stop by and get a drink and buy a bottle or two! read more

I decided to stop in while en route to Pittsburgh. The Peach Pie moonshine was great. I sampled it and it exceeded my expectations. I thought I would buy a bottle of rum and some swag but I ended up buying the Peach Pie, the Root Beer, and the rum. The staff member there was very friendly and gave us the history of the place.
