Seyval Blanc, Rosé, Vidal Blanc, Summer Breeze (seasonal), Late Harvest Diamond (limited edition)

Glades Pike Winery was a great stopping off point after an afternoon at Laurel Hill State Park on Labor Day. Anytime that I go to a new winery, I like to try flights, so I picked 5 wines for $25. I'm a fan of Pinot Grigio, and was told that the Seyval Blanc was most similar to it. It was probably my favorite among the bunch, with the Rosé and Vidal Blanc as a close second and third. The seasonal and limited edition wines were very sweet, so the flight size was the perfect serving. The rest of my group ordered various flavored wine slushies. They were 11% and pretty tart, but very refreshing. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery, there was a variety of seating to pick from on the patio and below on the lawn on the edge of the vineyard. The winery is open daily and hosts rotating events including live music, I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area!

Good wines, lots of options, and a beautiful view. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful. I Can't wait to visit again!

Was so excited to stumble upon this cute little winery while we were waiting in between Frank Lloyd Wright house tours. When we first walked in, it was quite loud because of a bridal party that was in there but as soon as they went into the back party room (which can accommodate 200 people) all was good again and we were able to sample up to 6 different wines at no cost! I always love when you visit wineries and they allow you to sip without paying for a souvenir glass and tasting. We ended up buying a bottle of the Triamante and it was delicious!

We went for a girls weekend and stopped here because they were having an open house. The girl let us try as many wines as we wanted - helping us weed through the ones that we loved, the ones that we liked, and the ones we didn't care for - giving us advice the whole way. Needless to say we all walked out with six bottles each. Because we have a designated driver we also shared two bottles while we were there. The vendors were very nice. A little jewelry, a little chocolate, a little salsa - it was a very nice variety. Will definitely come back, the staff was amazing. The girl that helped us try out all the wines also took a group picture for us. Looking forward to drinking my wine over the holidays.

This winery is a gem in rural Pennsylvania. After a day of hiking in the local state park, we went to the winery to enjoy our afternoon. Not only is the venue adorable, the owner Steve and his daughter Liz were so friendly. The wines were delicious and as you walk in you get 6 free samples. The staff is all very friendly and knowledgeable, and we even got a private tour when the owner learned we were from out of town! We enjoyed our Baco Noir with a cheese and veggie plate, and it was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. I would highly recommend this winery.

    Yum!!!!

Don't bother purchasing any of this wine. It's awful! Weak, bitter and just plain a waste of money. Sorry folks!

Bella Terra Vineyards is a winery, restaurant, and event venue in the small town of Hunker in…read moreWestmoreland County. It sells a variety of dry and sweet wines (e.g., red, white, rose, sparkling, and cider), cocktails, mocktails, and beers. Some vineyards are on the grounds as are many barrels and bottles of wines. The restaurant has both indoor seating and seasonal outdoor seating in lakeside cabanas and winter igloos. It is open for brunch/lunch and dinner. It is a nice setting for daily dining as well as special events such as weddings, bridal and baby showers, and private parties. Furthermore, the website lists activities such as bingo, painting and candle-making classes, live music with dancing, and more. For my husband and me, I made a reservation for lunch in an igloo. Our igloo was large enough to fit eight people and cost $50 plus foods and drinks. A larger "party dome" fits up to 14 people and has a fee of $75. The temperatures outside were very cold, but our igloo was kept warm by an electric fireplace and a zippered door. Throughout our meal, our waitress provided timely and friendly service. The Bistro menu listed shareables (e.g., pretzel sticks and charcuterie board), several smash burgers, several flatbreads, mains (e.g., fish and chips, cajun chicken pasta, and quinoa bowl), several salads, several handhelds (e.g., turkey melt, veggie wrap, and Italian panini), many sides, and a couple of desserts. Prices were moderate. (The menus for Sunday Brunch and a group Gathering differ.) The waitress first brought our Sweet Wine-Cookie Flight (4.5 stars), which consisted of the following pairs: Diamond Reo with Brown Sugar Pop Tart, Sweet Finley with Chocolate Salted Caramel, Riesling with Cookies and Cream, and Rose Cider with Strawberry Crunch. The wine glasses came in a wooden box, which was slightly too small, so I needed several minutes of time to carefully pull each wine glass out of the box. I, however, did enjoy the sweet flavors of the wines and cookies. Next our waitress brought out our shareable and two mains. The Hummus Plate (4.5 stars) consisted of fresh and tasty hummus, feta, olives, top seedz crackers, tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers, carrots, celery, and tzatziki. My main course was Crab Cakes (4 stars) with a substituted side of salad. Two crab cakes were a decent size of 4 ounces each, but I would have preferred more crab meat. I liked the garlic aioli. My husband's main course was the Cali Burger (4 stars) with a side of fries. In a brioche bun, a beef patty was topped with fontina cheese, applewood-smoked bacon (which he would prefer be crispier), avocado, avocado ranch, lettuce, and pickles (which he commented were nicely crunchy and sweet-sour) (no tomato at his request). The total price for the flight, shareable, two mains, and a soda was $98 plus sales tax and tip (plus the earlier $50 fee for the igloo).

Now, after several…read morereturn visits, I can honestly say it has become one of those places we intentionally build into our Saturday adventures. What keeps bringing us back is not just the wine, although there is certainly plenty to enjoy there. This visit included a flight, a glass of Starlight White, another newer red offering, and the small bites that have become one of my favorite parts of the experience. Fresh bread, cheeses, olives, dipping sauces, hummus, and even a couple of truffles create the kind of simple but thoughtful pairing that encourages you to slow down and stay awhile. What stands out most, though, is the authenticity of the place. During this visit we once again had the opportunity to spend some time with Lee, whose warmth and hospitality seem to reflect everything this winery is about. Nothing feels rushed, overly commercial, or manufactured. It feels genuine. On this particular Saturday, we sat outside overlooking the grounds of Kings Mountain Golf Course, enjoying a break from the routine and watching golfers make their way through the course. There was no special event, no live music, and no grand occasion. It was simply a relaxing afternoon, and somehow that made it even better. There are plenty of wineries where you can have a tasting. There are far fewer places where you leave feeling refreshed, welcomed, and already looking forward to your next visit. Vin de Matrix continues to be one of those places for us, and it remains well worth the drive from Pittsburgh.
