Planned a day trip driving from West Mifflin (outside Pittsburgh) to Laurel Highlands venues. My trip included this winery. It was a beautiful weekday in October. I opted for a wine tasting of a flight of 5 wines selected from their menu for $5 and sat on their outdoor patio with tables and umbrellas to enjoy my sips. The orchard was in the background, a lovely setting against a blue sky. I liked the Tempranillo best so bought a bottle. Lovely shop, pleasant staff. read more

We were in Somerset for the fire and ice festival on January 18th and stopped by the Glades Pike Winery and I am so glad we did! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful, secluded, and the winery should be in a Norman Rockwell painting! My husband and I have been to wineries in the Hamptons, the finger lakes, and Soma County California, and nothing even comes close to its Diamond Wine!! I love ice wine and they told me that it was not quite an ice wine but a late harvest wine. Does not matter, it is my new favorite.!! Wonderful and scenic winery! I love that this winery has a casual atmosphere, no feeling like you need to dress nicely to come. We came with our dog after hiking in Laurel Hill State Park nearby, so it was very convenient and the perfect way to unwind. There's beautiful open green space for you to bring your own chairs to relax in, a patio, as well as indoor area. Oktoberfest was happening when we came, a great celebration with a live band, local vendors, and seasonal specials. I got the Apple Cranberry Wine Slushie and my husband got the Apple Cider flavor. Both were incredible and tasted like fall in a cup. Refreshing, not artificial tasting, and not too sweet. Will definitely be coming back here in the future when I'm out this way. Only thing that would have made the experience better is if they had food. At the time they only had one food vendor and the options were very limited, with a long line. read more

Glades Pike Winery was a great stopping off point after an afternoon at Laurel Hill State Park on Labor Day. Anytime that I go to a new winery, I like to try flights, so I picked 5 wines for $25. I'm a fan of Pinot Grigio, and was told that the Seyval Blanc was most similar to it. It was probably my favorite among the bunch, with the Rosé and Vidal Blanc as a close second and third. The seasonal and limited edition wines were very sweet, so the flight size was the perfect serving. The rest of my group ordered various flavored wine slushies. They were 11% and pretty tart, but very refreshing. We sat outside and enjoyed the scenery, there was a variety of seating to pick from on the patio and below on the lawn on the edge of the vineyard. The winery is open daily and hosts rotating events including live music, I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area! read more

Was so excited to stumble upon this cute little winery while we were waiting in between Frank Lloyd Wright house tours. When we first walked in, it was quite loud because of a bridal party that was in there but as soon as they went into the back party room (which can accommodate 200 people) all was good again and we were able to sample up to 6 different wines at no cost! I always love when you visit wineries and they allow you to sip without paying for a souvenir glass and tasting. We ended up buying a bottle of the Triamante and it was delicious! read more

We went for a girls weekend and stopped here because they were having an open house. The girl let us try as many wines as we wanted - helping us weed through the ones that we loved, the ones that we liked, and the ones we didn't care for - giving us advice the whole way. Needless to say we all walked out with six bottles each. Because we have a designated driver we also shared two bottles while we were there. The vendors were very nice. A little jewelry, a little chocolate, a little salsa - it was a very nice variety. Will definitely come back, the staff was amazing. The girl that helped us try out all the wines also took a group picture for us. Looking forward to drinking my wine over the holidays. read more

This place is such a nice little find. I was heading out to Somerset one day and happen to see it on the way. Me and my GF stopped in and purchased a bottle of cold bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and a cheese tray with crackers. Wow! They were both so good. We sat on the deck and enjoyed it very much even and even though it was 100 degrees out that day we still felt good due to the umbrellas and cold wine. The owners were very kind and helpful. If you get a chance stop in and get a bottle and a cheese tray. You will thank me later. read more

This winery is a gem in rural Pennsylvania. After a day of hiking in the local state park, we went to the winery to enjoy our afternoon. Not only is the venue adorable, the owner Steve and his daughter Liz were so friendly. The wines were delicious and as you walk in you get 6 free samples. The staff is all very friendly and knowledgeable, and we even got a private tour when the owner learned we were from out of town! We enjoyed our Baco Noir with a cheese and veggie plate, and it was a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. I would highly recommend this winery. read more

It's not a good outdoor place for some elderly wanting to see and enjoy the entertainment. No tents and very little shade. no chairs, dancing in the uneven grass area can be difficult. Have to walk to The porta Potties or climb up the steps. Nothing going on inside in the summer. For some the grass and rocks is also a fall hazard. read more

While staying at Seven Springs we decided to give this winery a try, since it's only a quick, 15 minute ride from the resort. We walked in and were instantly greeted and advised how they offer wine tastings and provided with a menu of wines. They have quite a large selection, broken up in various categories from dry to dessert wines. Their dry wines are nice and their off-dry are less than 1/2% residual sugar and tasted very well for those of us who prefer dry. Prices are standard. They do have a nice selection of locally made sauces, cheeses, salami, etc, all at a great price. We spent a while here enjoying everything we bought, to include wine, a couple of cheeses and salami, which they prepared for us, very nicely. They definitely exceeded our expectations with great customer service and suggestions. We liked it so much, we went back a couple days later and brought friends. read more

Glades Pike has been known for producing award winning wine since 1995, the owners started out with other couples in a wine club making wine in their kitchens and garages. They have an excellent variety of wines ranging from Dry, Sweet and Fruit/Dessert to others somewhere in between. Surprisingly the wines are moderately priced for such excellent quality. Glades Pike is open 7 days a week, has a banquet room available for indoor events and the gazebo and winery can be reserved for outdoor events. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable making this experience one of the best for wine connoisseurs. read more

This is a great place on the side of a hill. The owners were so polite and friendly. We took a tour, asked questions, laughed and got smart about their how they produced wine. Glades Pike has delicious wines. The guy doing the tasting for us explained each wine and was very passionate about the product in a down to earth way. Try the baco noir, the one similar to Lambrusco, and the black and blue! They also do tours, but you have to call ahead. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the Somerset/Seven Springs area. read more

We stopped by on a whim on our way to Hidden Valley Resort for the New Year's holiday. What a great experience! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The wine was good. My personal favorites are the Cab Franc and Red Zin. Ask about the chocolate candies with wine inside, they are fantastic! read more

Excellent wines and winery. Tasted several dry wines. Enjoyed them all. Wine server was very friendly and discussed their wine process. They get most of the grapes they use from the Erie region. The Blue and Black is very good. This is a combination of Blackberry and Blueberry wines, no other additives. If parking lot and banquet hall to cater special events. Definitely will return. The people were very nice. I tasted two of their reds, and bought a bottle of each. If I wasn't home when I opened them I would have taken them back. Both bottles were skunked. I paid top dollar for two bad bottles. Different wines. I can understand getting a bottle that has gone south now and again. But this just seemed systemic. read more

I live in Maryland and before laws were past I had to take requests for wines from Glades Pike on every visit! I recently got married there and it was an all star affair!! Scheduled a free tour for one of the activities for my sisters bachelorette party. The tour guide was so friendly, personable and really made it a great experience! It's very beautiful there. After the tour we tried many different wines with staff suggestions. Then ended our trip with a bottle of wine, cheese tray and fruit sitting on the gorgeous deck. FANTASTIC wine made in house from local grapes. The tasting was free (a nice surprise for us), the hosts were very friendly, the bottle prices were reasonable ($15-25 for the most part), and the location was easy to find. While the grapes weren't all grown on site, they were relatively locally sourced. The wines were consistently good and the dry reds were some of the best I've ever had. We were surprised at how good the place was. It was a little hike off the highway, but absolutely worth the trip. I will definitely stop by again next time in Pittsburgh. I was pleasantly surprised! I was on a five week vacation in October and into November and decided to add the winery's back east on my things to do. From NY. State Finger Lakes on down into PA. and into West Virginia (Oh by the way, I'm from Nebraska and yes we have some fine winery's also.) This is a very down to earth winery, welcoming, friendly, and helpful ! The day I stopped I happen to be the first to enter there doors and even though they were still in that mode of opening but they welcomed me in and answered all my questions about there wine, there vineyard and there business. A very beautiful area of the country for a winery. I bought 8 bottles and out of those again I was surprised with there Dry Red table wine. Normally I'm not all that crazy about dry wines red or white but there Cabernet Franc was fantastic. Depending on the grape used in different types of dry wines some can be very, very dry to the point that the dryness over rids any flavor that you might enjoy. Not so with this wine, It had a gently dryness with out making your mouth pucker or killing the flavor of the Cabernet from the first sip to the very last taste. It may be just a table wine but in my opinion it is an excellent wine for all occasions. So far I have tried all the bottles that I purchased and truly enjoy them all ! The Finger Lake winery's have some fine wine but I believe Glades Pike winery surpasses most of them and is comparable to the top ten wineries in NY. state lake area. Keep up the fine work. read more
