I called Harriford Exterior Restoration, because they seemed to be the closest thing to any kind of roof service and located in the area. I talked to Brandon who laughed, when I explained my predicament and said in all his years he'd never had a call for removing something off a roof. He was very accommodating. Once he found out that I actually lived in the same neighborhood as him, I think he couldn't say no at that point. I asked him what a fair price would be, and we negotiated a number that both of us was happy with. After we made arrangements, my wife reminded me that we actually had some missing roof shingles. He removed the object off the neighbor's roof and repaired our roof according to his normal hourly rate. I am very impressed with Brandon's ability to be honest, helpful, flexible, and fair, even for something so trivial as getting something off the roof.

I have a Cape Cod style house with a large shed dormer on the back of the house. The pitch of the roof is 1/12, which is to say nearly flat. I had a membrane roof installed on the dormer back in 2006, but it had been damaged in a storm and was in need of replacement. I went back to the original contractor, but I was told that they no longer do membrane roofs. An online source directed me to JJ. He came over to my house and went up on the roof to take measurements. While up there, he took some pictures that he shared with me, showing problem areas. He gave me a quote which was just about double what I had paid in 2006, and that seemed just about right given inflation in the cost of building materials and labor. I was impressed by JJ from the very start. He told me of his long experience working for others in the roofing business, and he had a firm grasp of the issues involved with a flat roof. So I hired him. The day before construction was to begin, a truck dropped off materials on my driveway, and early the next day, work began. My recollection was that JJ was there when they began, but that he handed me off to his foreman, who also impressed me. The foreman took some new pictures after they removed the old membrane, showing why they needed to replace two sheets of plywood. When the job was complete, they did a thorough cleanup job, dragging a big magnet around the job site, looking for stray roofing nails. I didn't want to write a review right away, because I wanted to see if the roof would leak in the rain. It didn't. I used a moisture meter on my ceiling, and the moisture that was there before the job was later gone. So overall, an A+ job.
